Because Apple has already announced the official price. /sSo the same processor as the current 15 inch MacBook Pro. But that extra inch raises the price to $3000.
C'mon. always take those rumours with a grain of salt.

What would make it more professional? Genuinely curious. If this doesn’t have a refresh rate of 144hz it is trash computer. I’m a speed runner so I am a true professional and so far this doesn’t sound professional
Disagreeing with Kuo, Lin thinks the 15.4” will be discontinued after the introduction of the 16”.16" model would be all-new. Top-of-line addition. 15" model will presumably live on. So, I view it a bit differently.
Yes, me.After all the MacBook Pro issues starting in 2016, is anyone going to purchase one when they first come out ?
Unless people really need one, I suggest waiting at least six months before actually buying one.
I've been hoping for a while they might come out with a 15" MacBook or Air, the U series chips have become pretty competent since going quad-core, with IceLake, the iGPU should be up to handling the larger screen without needing to kick in a dGPU as well. I don't think they'd go for it in the Pro line though, because they like to be able to say the 15" can drive two 5K displays at once.I'd take it in 16" base config, the 28w is faster than my 2011 15" and that is plenty fast for my uses.
The key point besides price is functionality. Will it have the necessary ports, i.e., SD card, USB-A, or continue this stupid thinness craze. We want FUNCTIONALITY and not having to look for adapters. A couple of millimeters isn't a deal breaker. LACK OF FUNCTIONALITY IS!
I wonder if it'll be an event or if they will announce it by just updating the website.
Core i9 8 core
32 gigs of ram
1 tb ssd
Nano-texture display option
$4899
I will pay extra for an escape key.
A MacBook Pro Pro, in addition to the recent 13” MacBook Semi ProI doubt the 15" goes away. Ming-Chi Kuo expects a new 15" with scissor keyboard in 2020. Alongside the 16".
16" likely starts off as highest-priced, top-of-line config and eventually slides down, but it will take time.
This is what they did with the first Retina display model in 2012.
Exactly my thought. This first-gen product will have the usual birthing issues along with hot CPUs. I’ll wait for the Ice Lake refresh six months down the road.Is that with or without thermal throttling?
15" will be standard with TouchBar. 16" will have TB and Face ID, maybe?Makes no sense to have a 15" and a 16". There is not enough difference between the two. Since they will be using the same processors as the 15", this new form factor cannot offer a significantly better experience. My bet is still that the 16" will replace the 15". It's too close in performance and features not to.
FaceID?So what's this thing gonna have then? Tiny bit (0.6") bigger screen? And?
I wonder if it'll be an event or if they will announce it by just updating the website.
Loved my 15" Pro with matte screen but hated the silver bezel. And an optional touchbar (aka no touchbar). And a scissor keyboard. And MagSafe. And HDMI. And SD Card reader. And a better trackpad with Pencil support. And a better battery. And no throttling. And a matte screen.
Good golly, there's quite a bit I'd pay extra for.
