I'm experiencing the exact opposite. My phone feature performance is dramatically improved. Contacts respond instantly and I can switch between the keypad, voicemail and contacts now without any hesitation. Try a reset. I think you have memory ghosts.

FOR ANYONE THAT HAS NOT YET UPDATED THEIR PHONE ... REBOOT YOUR PHONE FIRST - THIS WILL MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS RUNNING AT IT'S BEST FOR THE UPDATE! :)

wow i just read this whole thread and my iphone is only half way done the mandatory backup. does neone kno if having your iphone filled to where there is very little space left decrease its performance? and if so how much space should u leave free so u dont see decreased performance?

Did you ever back it up to iTunes after you purchased it via the phone? if not, it's gone...

Wow, ok, this was kinda weird. Yes, I have backed up my phone after I got NetShare. I backed up my phone, installed 2.0.1, installed itunes 7.7.1 and then it was missing from my computer. After I plugged my iPhone in, NetShare and a few other apps reappeared in my applications.

I don't know why some of my apps disappear from my applications after the iTunes update. Anyway, all is well now.

No problems here. I did my 3G and my iPod. Took maybe 30 mins for them both combined.

It's snappier!

Heh, j/k. Going to wait until I can use Pwnage Tool with this new firmware. :)

Address Book Snapier

I used to endure a 5-10 second pause in the UI when I opened the address book. That appears to be a thing of the past with the new firmware!

Having followed the guide thread about shortening backup times:
Total backup took ~100 seconds, 80 in the actual backing up stage, the rest the start up and wind down stages.

But then, I looked at the "3" updates going... RSS! And it was all going so well. No, wait - horrendous queues, O2 foulups, MobileMe nightmare.
I think 4 of every update isn't too bad afterall... Strange things is, iTunes is picking up 8 apps to update (and giving 4 copies each) the App Store on the phone is only seeing two.

I've noticed that in the iTunes/Mobile Application folder there can be multiple copies of an app. I don't think iTunes realized it's the same file just updated and when there is an update for an app it will show "x" amount of updates for "x" copies of that app in that folder.

Warning: Anyone updating to 2.0.1 on a previously jailbroken (2.0) iPhone or iPod touch will find Cydia and any other applications installed via Cydia removed.

If history is any indicator...the apps are there but need a reinstall.

location function no longer works

1st gen iPhone. Just did the update and now my "locate me" button in the maps app does not work. I tried in Twinkle and WhereamI. They all just give me the spinning wheel.

DUDE!

SUMMARY:

So, it appears there is a concensus that the overall phone seems "SNAPPIER!!!" and Safari seems "SNAPPIER!!!"

-HOWEVER, it appears that some people are finding improved 3G reception, and some people are finding decreased 3G reception. What could possibly account for this ????????????????????????????????

I'm not an expert or anything, but it could be calculating the reception differently (hopefully more efficiently).

What is all the fuss about backup times??? My16GB has always taken just a few seconds -- and that's with 1500 songs, 7 videos, 500 photos, and a dozen apps. Why do some take so long? I don't get it.

BTW, for those of us still stuck on dialup this 250MB update will take a couple of days to download. )-:

You're not backing anything up then.

Started playing Aurora Feint after updating... as I was leveling up, the game hanged

But the phone did seem snappier!

So our backups suck, but man... your bandwidth? It took about 3 minutes for me to download it.

Seriously though... if you tell iTunes to back up your phone manually, it takes a few seconds?

The backup doesn't touch music, video or photo's - just apps and their data along with notes, sms, call history and so on.

So I'd guess that the people who have quick backups don't have many apps loaded or the ones they have aren't that big. My backup is just over 400mb each time and took about two hours prior to this firmware. I'm still backing up with the new firmware but it does look like its quicker - about an hour.
