"iTunes could not sync to the iPhone "iPhone" because an unknown error occurred (-19)."

Pretty new to macs and I understand that "unknown" probably isn't too helpful, but does anyone have any idea why I am getting this?

This is after I try to install 2.0.1.

My girlfriends did this as well. Hers was in the middle of a sync, so I had to disconnect her iPhone from the computer, then uncheck automatically sync, then hook it back up to the computer and hit update.

I just started a restore on my 3G and iTunes asked me to update my phone to 2.0.1!

Wow..just installed the update.

The phone is faster.
I lost 12lbs
I have more hair
And im at least |-------------------one cm------------------| longer too!

Yes, that was fanboy sarcasm.

same here. also been like this for a couple of days...

I read somewhere saying there is multiple copies of the application within "Mobile Applications" in the iTunes folder. It seems to the application doesnt delete the orignal and makes a copy of it. Just delete the previous verisons and that should solve your problem. :)

My question is does it fix the bug where your icons get moved every time you update an app from the iPhone app store.

omg i'm going to die

Haven't noticed the fixes. Still get contact lag, still get text lag. Am I missing something? Apps installed much cleaner than before and Safari, ironically, does seem a bit snappier. Other than that, seems buggy still....

Meh.. still havent done it all!

What Apple failed to correct is the geotagging stuff up.....

While im sitting here typing this in Melbourne, Australia - it appears my photos are being tagged somewhere in the middle of the pacific!

Good one Apple!

I got this, too. First do a complete Sync (don't update the software). Then with the phone still connected, run the update software. It should work (at least it did for me and I had the same error).

I'm still trying to recover from this error...

First it restored the firmware (hopefully it was 2.0.1) and now it's restoring from backup.

Currently looking at dialog on my phone that says " Activation Alert No signal is detected. Signal is required to complete activation"

Certainly doesn't give me a warm fuzzy...got my fingers crossed.

Mine has been stuck doing the mandatory iPhone backup during the update process for the past 90 minutes. THIS SUCKS.

Ok... all done with the update.

Back up still seems too long. It takes about one minute from the get go to completion.

The interface has indeed sped up. There is no longer that horrible lag while typing in SMS and the lag is completely gone when clicking on the Phone app to select a contact.

HOWEVER..... I too have seemed to fallen under the dreaded umbrella of reception decline. I used to have 5 bars here in my house and now I'm lucky to be getting 3 bars. FYI This is an EDGE first gen iPhone.

Things get weirder! Just plugged my old [first gen] iPhone into my computer and it says "2.0.1 firmware available". I say again... WTF?

Warning: Anyone updating to 2.0.1 on a previously jailbroken (2.0) iPhone or iPod touch will find Cydia and any other applications installed via Cydia removed.

iphone won't be here till tomorrow...but to update it you just plug it into your laptop (MBP for me) and go to itunes? or what do you do?

Plug in your iPhone and iTunes will start.
If there is no message after iTunes has started telling you there is a new update, just hit the "check for update button".
Hit Download & Install and that's it.

After the iPhone is updated you can resync your Apps, photos, music, etc.

It's very easy ;).

Agree on the backup speed but it looks like the restore/backup loop is still there. after a restore from backup it goes right back to the Setup as New Phone or Restore from Backup screen.

Backing up now and if that doesn't work then trying trick of choosing Setup as New Phone as that worked last time.

Syncing/Backing up is indeed dramatically faster! What a relief.

I'm experiencing the exact opposite. My phone feature performance is dramatically improved. Contacts respond instantly and I can switch between the keypad, voicemail and contacts now without any hesitation. Try a reset. I think you have memory ghosts.

Error 6 is normally because of the USB connector you are using. So if you aren't using the USB cord that came with the iPhone 3G, then I would suggest using that. If you are using the cord then I don;t know what it could be... Are you connecting through a USB hub? If so, then try a direct connection.
