Upgrade from Pwned 2.0 works

I have successfully upgraded my Pwned original iphone (edge) to 2.0.1.

All went smoothly. I didn't have Cida installed so don't know if this will work/still be installed on the phone after the update.

All my apple store apps are still there and the phone doesn't require you to reactivate after this update.

Awesome.

Failed for "unknown reason" doing the update and left me with only the option to do a restore.

I just did a full backup before starting this so hopefully it restores OK.

Edit: Restore failed :(

Trying again.

Well I've just experienced a persistent bug from 2.0 on 2.0.1...tried to post here via iPhone. Typing the reply was slow as molasses, then stopped responding altogether, then Safari crashed and ate my post.

As on 2.0, the freshly opened Safari didn't crash (this time).

Netshare has got to be one of the worst applications ever written. It's definetly not worth my ten dollars. :)

Why must we get the whole software in a package, It does a "forever lasting backup",then it wipes the phone, then installs the firmware, then you have to do a restore which takes 1.5 hrs and then on top of all that then you have to sync it and wait another .5hr until your media is put back on it. Retarded......

really? when I updated from 1.1.4 to 2.0, it took my about 30-40 minutes total. And backups aren't slow! Mine just zips through. And it does not wipe your phone... it didn't do that to mine, for the 2.0.1 update, although it did for the 2.0. Stop complaining, just be patient, it doesn't take forever and I have lots of apps (20 or so), a few games, and more than 2.5gb of music/videos/etc..

My install went smoothly. I had performed a full backup a few days ago after an App Store crash wiped my phone. Since having performed a full backup my subsequent backups haven't been as lengthy and seem to reflect whatever changes occur to the phone between syncs.

I think with the full backup already performed the install went far more smoothly and rapidly than others have reported. I suspect that the solution to the long backup issues is to permit the phone to perform a full backup. At least that seems to be the case in my situation.

Hope this helps.

I wish they would post a log that tells what the **** this version firmware does. I'd like to know what exactly it is that i'm downloading for 200MB >.>

nope.

oh yeah... i'll be installing this *real* soon.

right. after my first 3G froze up constantly and became completely bricked, i returned it for a replacement sunday. thanks but no thanks for the update guys. i'll wait another month, at least.

to the rest of you... good luck.

I'm still waiting on them to update AIM with the push features.

same here as well as push myspace and facebook for when u get comments and stuff. id also like to see push app updates so u dont have to go into the app store to check for updates. and this is random but a good tide app would be awesome. i would love to have an app that can tell you the days tide report as well as a few days in advance (there is a web app but it isnt very good for viewing the next couple of days)

Okay here are a few tips for everyone with slow syncing times. Reboot your iPhone. Try to limit your apps to the ones you need. I went through my Apps I downloaded and put a hacksaw to them. Everything is much more fluid and snappier.

Try putting some sizeable apps on it and then they won't be. Then you'll b*tching about it like the rest of us.

Interestingly, my last backup took over an hour... then I ran it again manually without having even disconnected the iPhone, and it took < 4 minutes. I'm updating some apps now (new AOL IM, and Radio) then I'll backup again.

Only a few points to make:

Backup during sync is super quick now, I wonder if it even backs up apps now.

On both of my iPhones, I now get one bar in my house. On my 3G iPhone under 2.0, I could get 3G upstairs in a back room, now no 3G anywhere in my house. i haven't been outside yet to check the signal, I will later.

I may go back to 2.0 due to better signal or at least more bars indicating a better signal.

2.0.1 vs battery life

maybe it is to soon to answer. but is the battery life is affected by 2.0.1 ?

i downloaded it but didn't intalled it yet...to affraid with what i've read about 2.0.

any response would be appreciated.

okay so maybe im doing something wrong?

i don't notice much of a difference at all...it actually kinda seems worse

ive never had a keyboard lag and i still dont

but contacts takes about 5 seconds to open.....sms is taking anywhere from 5-15 seconds to open which is annoying

lastly.....my phone won't let me open up settings....it freezes on a blank screen and i have to hold the home button for 15-20 secs to force quit....

anyone else having these problems?

NO Wi-Fi?????????!!!!!!!!!

I went to turn my Wi-Fi back on and it's grayed out. It just says
No Wi-Fi
I can't select it!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's disabled??????!!!!!!!

Anyone else?

your back up time is proportional to how much your phone changed since the last time you backed it up. If you install or remove a bunch of apps it will take a while to back up. people saying their back up times are faster probably havent changed much on their phone since their last backup.

About 2.0.1

1. Same LOUSY Notes app.
2. Same LOUSY, USELESS, AWEFUL ringtones.
3. NO DOCUMENTS VIEWER!
4. NO MMS!

You folks at Apple are certainly LAZY! The phone is EXCEPTIONAL but certainly is DEVOID of BASIC SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED FEATURES! YOU CALL THIS A FRIGGIN UPDATE! BE SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
