So far, so good (crosses fingers)

I've noticed no lag in the contacts and also no lags when choosing someone to text. Keyboard has been ok so far and the bars stay the same as before in my house.

Backups are way faster now so I'm glad for that seeing as how I've restored the phone 3 times now since Saturday and never did a backup cause it took a day short of forever.

Keep up the good work, Apple!

Still getting same reception and speeds on my phone.

hopefully someone can help me out...

somewhere during the use of the 2.0 software, my Photos and Camera Apps STOPPED opening. All it does is try and open up the program for a few seconds, then closes back to the homescreen...

here's what I've done so far:

manually restored 1st Gen iPhone 2.0 software...result: nothing
automatically updated 1st Gen iPhone 2.0.1 software...result: nothing
manually restored 1st Gen iPhone 2.0.1 software...result: nothing
unsync'd all photos are resync'd photos...result: nothing

what am I missing? please help...the camera and photos apps are being missed!

thanks.

Also...the "Wallpaper" settings screen will not open either...so essentially anything associated with photos/photo-taking will not open.

I can unhappily report that BOTH the address book field sync inconsistency bug AND the iCal calendar color sync issue are still alive and present in 2.0.1. Nice job fixing those, Apple.

Should I do a backup first or will it do it automatically before installing 2.0.1? I ask because I have the hour plus backups so I don't want to do it and turn around and do it again. Thanks.

They REALLY need to do something about Google Maps. Its street database is so NOT updated or reliable. I'm in the delivery business and it's gotten to the point where I simply bookmarked Mapquest and created an icon on my home screen. I rely on Mapquest now to give me turn-by-turn directions because I can ALWAYS find the streets I'm looking for, unlike on Google Maps.

And this Locate function is a joke....that is, when it actually works!!!!

Let's hope TomTom gets their app ready quick, fast and in a hurry!

Leave the GPS stuff to people who actually know what they're doing!

Steve Jobs cursing in Russian?!!!

Ok, so after reading other peoples experience upgraded 2.0.1 on jailbroken iPhones, I decided to take the plunge. It's currently still updating so I can't provide any status if it will be a success, however, something very strange happened. Right after iTunes said it was preparing the iPhone for the upgrade, my iPhone restarted and there was a cartoon of Steve Jobs, with a text bubble filled with what looked like Russian! Has anyone experienced this?! I'm worried it phoned home and apple has a record of my phone. Weird...

My 3G iPhone updated without any problems. Then I went to update the G1 iPhone and all hell broke loose. Now I'm stuck in some kind of restoring loop...

Try deleting the MISC folder.

I had problems with my camera not saving pictures. After I deleted the MISC folder and any other folders in the DCIM folder, everything was OK. To do this I used the demo version of phoneview http://www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/

I posted this fix at Apple's discussion board...it seems to have worked for others.

That's the restore image of a pwned iPhone unless you change it or disable it.

LOL, that's not Apple, that's your "friends" that made the jailbreak software. :D

I was looking for a pic on Google, but couldn't find it. It was actually written as a splashscreen for the jailbroken 2.0 beta firmware.

Are Apple so stupid that they need telling that a two hour backup during which you can't use your iPhone is a major problem that they need to do something about?

If so, we are all doomed.
Not everyone has that problem my back-up takes around 2 minutes.

Its a 16Gb

237 songs
15 Videos
20 photos
18 Apps

8.5 Gb available.

Update complete, phone seems snappier however my cell signal has no improvement:confused:. I guess I'm going to need to get a new sim card from AT&T and see if that fixes the signal issues.

I can confirm that this will not resolve your issue... a SIM card has nothing to do with signal reception.

Ok, thanks. I did actually read the previous posts, but they talked about Cydia not working, and didn't mention the lock/unlock status of 2.0.1. I wasn't sure if there was a post that mentioned that the phone was now locked as well?

Can anyone please update or point me to a post that specifies whether 2.0.1 will lock a previously unlocked 2.0 iPhone? Thanks.

Downloaded it, but it refuses to update my iPod Touch. I keep getting errors and crashes. Lame!

I had the same thing on one of my 1g iPhones. The fix is to do a restore and when it asks to restore your previous setting DONT. Use the other option and set it up as a new phone. Worked for me.

No Wi-Fi after 2.0.1 upgrade

Was working fine earlier this evening, then did upgrade. Now Settings menu says "No Wi-Fi", and under About the Wi-Fi address says "N/A".

Anyone else with this problem?

Before anyone asks, never unlocked/jailbroken/etc

update: another reboot fixed it.

Bluetooth Issues Fixed?

Does 2.0.1 fix the bluetooth / visual voicemail problem with some bluetooth headsets? For example, I have the Plantronics 925, and you can't listen to your visual voicemail messages through the headset. In firmware 1.0 - 1.1.4 you could. In the top right corner of the screen in visual voicemail there is a button that should read "audio". Tapping that button would allow you to choose between iPhone audio, speakerphone audio, and bluetooth audio.

In the 2.0 software, "audio" appears with these options with only a few bluetooth headsets (jawbone and apple included). However, with many more (motorola, plantronics, blue ant, etc.) bluetooth headsets these options are not available. Instead of seeing "audio" the button only reads "speaker" with no further options when tapped. It just toggles between the iPhone ear and speakerphone.

This is a major bug / programming error that I hope is corrected with this release. Please post if there is any information on this or if someone gets it working. Thanks.

The unlock survives the 2.0.1 update BUT you have to be legitimately activated with a carrier to get activation. In other words whilst the phone is unlocked post 2.0.1 (you get a signal) it isn't/can no longer be activated via pwnage for now unless you have a legit carrier account which activates the phone for you

The Jailbreak doesn't stick either. In fact i think its safe to say the phone only remains unlocked because Apple didn't update the baseband firmware this time so the unlocking for the 2.0 fw sticks post 2.0.1

No problems to report upgrading to 2.0.1. 3G reception is the same in Southern NJ. Backups are much faster. Everything seems snappier though (keyboard, home screen).

Nice work, Apple.

i just noticed that today. i was at work thinking "couldn't i listen to voicemail via bluetooth before?" updating mine soon to see if it resolves that issue.

Lol...I had never seen it before so I thought it was related to the 2.0.1 update.
Other than that, update was successful, but haven't really seen many changes. UI is quicker throughout, but mobilesafari loading speeds are the same. Camera still takes too long to load.

Well, mine failed w/ a -1 error...don't know what that means. Had to reset the iPhone which put it in recovery mode w/ the little iTunes icon and a USB cable.

Connected to iTunes which restored the firmware. After a reboot it is now applying the backup performed right before the update started. Think I started this process almost 1 1/2 hours ago.

BTW, have all of you guys complaining about long backups looked into the thread about clearing out your crash report files??? That resolved it for me except for one very long backup after upgrading iTunes to 7.7.1.
