somewhere during the use of the 2.0 software, my Photos and Camera Apps STOPPED opening. All it does is try and open up the program for a few seconds, then closes back to the homescreen...

here's what I've done so far:

manually restored 1st Gen iPhone 2.0 software...result: nothing
automatically updated 1st Gen iPhone 2.0.1 software...result: nothing
manually restored 1st Gen iPhone 2.0.1 software...result: nothing
unsync'd all photos are resync'd photos...result: nothing

what am I missing? please help...the camera and photos apps are being missed!

Ok this happened twice to me with my iPhone 3G. It really sucked ass. I fixed it the last time by hooking it up to my computer, and I deleted the pictures I had just taken with the phone. You don't have to delete all the pics, just the ones taken with the iPhone recently before the problem started.

It's almost like a corrupt photo ****s up everything so you have to delete it. Mine did the same exact thing. Photos, Camera, and wallpapers would not open. Try what I said though, it fixed mine up perfectly.
 
been backing up for over an hour now...its moving really slow. im on a 2g iphone..blah

Just updated to 2.0.1 from jailbroken phone. It does not brick your phone. You will lose all your jailbroken apps but that should be expected. You're back to the normal iphone, really.
 
to restore phone quicker delete all apps on phone prior to restoring. then uncheck sync apps. do it for music too and it will be faster.
 
Wow, damn thing wants to restore from backup again.

What sucks is that it keeps popping on top of whatever other things I'm trying to do to pass the time. This is getting to be really annoying. :mad:
 
How about an iTunes update to fix the ridiculous Application update BS that goes on? iTunes has been telling me to download the same update for the NYtimes app for about three weeks and it's getting pretty F&$*(%G annoying!!
 
Finished updating. Everything works. Safari feels snappier. Really. ;)

But it's hard to tell. For a minute I thought it was slower: I tried to access apple.com and it was taking too long. However, it turns out that apple.com without the www. sub-domain does not always work. Once I added the www, it worked.

Overall, before the update, I noticed the slowness, now I don't, so I assume something must have changed.
 
Wtf!?

I updated, now my case has cracks, my screen is yellow, my headphone jack is recessed, my screen has banding, Help!! Well, at least Safari is snappier. :D
 
I just updated to 2.0.1 and now non of my non-apple apps work and my ipod mode is showing nothing. According to Itunes its all still there as I only have 500meg free on a 16GB 3G. Looks like I will have to restore YET AGAIN! Thanks Apple.

I am really starting to realize why I have been so anti-Apple since the Commodore days!
 
My phone seems much faster. However, I am one who has noticed reduced 3G signal bars. Most parts of my house are 1 bar.

The firmware (i.e. the iPhone OS) is 250MB, pretty much the same size as the last version that it replaces, so you aren't going to have any less space available after you update.

so sick of people bitching whining crying moaning groaning you get the picture. if i dont like something i dont buy it.
 
I can also verify that my jailbroken and unlocked iPhone remains in such a state but Cydia and any other apps installed are gone.

2.0.1 also kept my BossPrefs setting to hide the Stocks icon.

2.0.1 is also for touches with 2.0

No, its just the fact that all I have heard from the Apple fanactics is how much better Apple products are. I finally decide to get my first product from Apple and all I do is have troubles. Hopefully now if I restore to a fresh 1.0.2 it will be the last time I have to.
