The cisco VPN client still doesn't appear to use the DNS provided by the VPN concentrator.
 
Question

If I download this update on a different computer than what I normally sync to will it remove everything of my iphone?

no settings are there folders are there to.. when yo go to select one it pops up and cancel or set click set and back out and click the button and click it to come back on its just a black screen.

Update took 1 hour and 3 mins.

Started at 7:13 pm and finished at 8:16 pm. I have an original iphone. I only synch when there is an update. I have 3 apps and 220 songs and I never synch my outlook or my photos. My signal strength is the same. SMS has less lag, however the contacts is still a little sticky. There is improvement, but still a tad sticky. Never had a problem with Safari, so I can't attest to it being "snappier" (whatever that means).

As I am typing this just got a No Service in a room that always received 4 bars. Did a hard reset and all is well, (for now).

No complaints. We'll see how it goes. :rolleyes:

App launch time benchmarks v2.0 versus 2.0.1

Okay, here is some data I collected immediately before the 2.0.1 firmware update and then immediately after (for the first generation 8GB iPhone). I did a cold reboot of the iPhone before each set of tests:

**** Averages of two trials each ****
2.0 firmware application launch times:
Settings: 3.1 seconds
Contacts: 2.8 seconds
Camera: 4.0 seconds
MotoRacer: 10.4 seconds (first music immediately preceding "Touch To Begin" screen)
Crash Bandicoot: 16.2 seconds (motor sound prior to start of intro video)

2.0.1 (5B108) firmware application launch times:
Settings: 3.2 seconds
Contacts: 2.8 seconds
Camera: 4.0 seconds
MotoRacer: 10.3 seconds (first music immediately preceding "Touch To Begin" screen)
Crash Bandicoot: 16.2 seconds (motor sound prior to start of intro video)

Summary, NO difference in application launch times for these five applications. Your mileage may vary but this seems to contradict those who are claiming much faster launch times with the new firmware.

In any case, everything seems to be working after the firmware update.
 
Hmm is MobileMe Bookmarks ON/OFF syncing new? It's in the MobileMe settings in the mail section on the iphone.
 
After two hours of backing up and installing, I received a message saying "Error, could not install update on Iphone" and it shut off...
 
The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6).

ok, after ATTEMPTING to install, it crapped out towards end the of installation. It's in recovery mode.

Restarted my Mac. Received this error "The file 'iTunes Libray' does not appear to be a valid iTunes library file. iTunes has attempted to recover your iTunes libray and renamed this file to 'iTunes Library (Damaged 3".

can someone please answer this because I dont want to be installing this on my laptop than find out its going to require me to restore my phone.

Safari Password bug fixed?

Does anyone know if this update fixes the password issue with Safari? The bug shows you the last character of your password for about 20 to 30 seconds after you entire it into a form field that has a type of password.

that's not a bug, it's a feature.
 
Oh wow!

I just noticed my Outlook calendar is now synced with my iPhone calendar..

All of my important dates are in there

I don't mean it shows you the key pressed, I mean in the form field itself it will show you the last plain text character entered. It sits like that for about 30 seconds and then goes to the password *.

Example

*****e and then thirty seconds later its ******.

This was introduced into the 2.0 upgrade.

Yes that's a feature, not a bug.
