I got it about an hour ago. It didn't come up straight away and I had to click on the "Check for Update" button before it found it.
* Contacts lag is pretty much gone. This was very annoying. I have opened up apps, closed them, and then gone back into Contacts, and it still opens much quicker than it previously did.
* Haven't noticed the very annoying SMS typing lag yet. Hopefully it stays away for good!
* Safari opens faster and responds more quickly.
* Better reception?? My iPhone sits in its dock in the exact same place every day/night. After the update, I got 3G reception for the FIRST TIME while in the dock (I am in my rec room in the basement where cell reception is terrible). I loaded Google Reader and it responded very quickly. This could just be coincidence, but it's still interesting.
* Haven't checked on the "backing up." I will install a few apps tomorrow and then do a sync and see if it's improved.

I was about to rag on people for saything nothing but IT'S SNAPPIER, but damn, it really is! hehe
I still experience a few lags in Contacts, but not nearly as bad, and usually it's quick. The whole interface is a lot better now too.

Just installed 2.01 then went to check for any app store updates, and, well... this 'aint right...
I have had this issue for two days now.
Very confused. I am clicking "Check for updates" in iTunes and its saying 2.0 is the latest firmware available. WTF?
Don't feel bad. I live less than mile from the tower and can see it right now out my window and most of the time I have between 3-5 bars. You would think I would have 5 all the time.
For those with both a 1ST generation iPhone and a 3G iPhone, you will have to download the 2.01 update twice. There are different versions for each iPhone.
Ok one bug has been fixed that I can confirm.
Before on my iPod Touch iPhoto didnt show thumbnails for the saved images on the device, and now it works.

ugh! so far my phone says no service. im not too happy with this update. there seems to be a bug now with reception wtf!
Any word on if this update helps anyone having GPS issues? Mine cannot find my current location, inside or outside.
Yeah, I have had this for about 4 days and when it says I only have 1 update to download, it shows every application when I press the button.
I'm downloading it now and preparing to install it...
