Hopefully the keyboard letters pop-up like they're supposed to in this updated Safari... I always hate when one of my keys doesn't pop-up when I tap it.

I thought my iPhone was the only one doing that! I just updated to 2.2.1 and I'm still getting the same problem with the keys. Not so good on the bug fixing!

Man no push notifications. Apple screwed me! When I bought by iPhone the option to have Im running in the background was taken into concideration by me.
Now month after I bought it there is still no background notification service.
I mean it's not that I don't like the phone without it, but Apple should at least inform us when to expect it.

I think apple realized that push notification (great idea) but not practical. They are just going to get background services run on the phone in the end. That is why they are going to wait until the next version and allow for that since this ones battery is bad at time already.

What ever happened to Push Notification services for all apps? Howcome no one has brought this issue to light?

Oh, wait, it's obvious now! Jobs meant September '09!

You know something that is true. He never did say 08 did he. Very clever.

After installing 2.2.1, images saved both through Mail and through Safari are still blurry if they are large files. Small images seem to work just fine. I emailed myself a 1.5MB and a 4.5MB photo and each turned out blurry. An 80kb image turned out fine, as did several 400x600 images from Safari.

Has anyone else noticed that the image size seems to determine whether the image is saved properly?

I've attached screen captures of an 80kb version of a photo and the 2.8MB version. The 2.8MB version ends up blurry when saved to the camera roll and viewed on the iPhone. The actual images saved are fine if imported onto my Mac, but show up blurry on the iPhone. See the examples I've attached.

Again, the actual images saved are fine, but not when viewed on the iPhone. These are the screen captures from the iPhone screen, not the originals.

I just saved that file from Safari and it's nice and sharp in my camera roll. Sorry.

You just saved a 140kb .PNG file. The problem lies in saving the originals when they are large files. It won't show up by downloading the small screen caps I posted. These were my own photos but you could try going to a photography site and downloading a thumbnail and then the original image to see what I'm talking about. Or just try downloading a 2+MB image.

My iPhone 3G froze during the "preparing iPhone" stage of the update process, with an empty status bar on the iPhone. I had to reset the iPhone by pressing the "home" and "on/off" buttons simultaneously. The iPhone then would not start, and I got a "recovery mode" error message when trying to re-connect it to iTunes. I had to restore the phone to the factory settings which obviously deleted all the data I had on it, all my settings, and all applications I had on it.

I hope I can restore the phone from the backup... but want to warn others who are trying to upgrade. My phone was not unlocked and did not have any problems whatsoever. I have no idea why this happened.

I am unable to sync my 1st generation iphone after updating to 2.2.1. Anybody having the same issue?

w/e i wasnt really expecting anything big form this update (although deep down, i was praying for SMS improvements, and dare i say it!!!!...ok i wont :))

Maybe because we're all still waiting on basic functionality that (arguably) should've been there from the beginning?

Yet... you still bought the phone... knowing of this "basic functionality" missing... or are you going to claim Apple lied to you?

Good to see that they've stopped images pixelating when saved from email, it's a shame it's still happening when I save anything from safari.

The 2.2.1 update did not fix the pic save pixelation problem from mail (G iPod Touch) yet "broke" image saving from Safari. Before, pics saved fine from Safari; now, they are pixelated.

Yet, my sister can save fine on her iPhone.

I really hope someone challenges the iPhone soon so they will start adding things that actually make it worth updating.

Be careful what you say, or Apple will use its newfound patent enforcing powers to zap you from the heavens.:rolleyes::)

Seriously though, I am looking forward to 3.0 because maybe then we'll start to see some larger changes. Oh, and my Safari image saving is screwed up too.

Exact same issue for me... Looks like Apple is bricking people without unlocked phones now.

Tried restore x2 already

3rd time a charm??? - running now

Nope, looks like I'm bringing it to the apple store, ? 3rd phone since the release all by "updates"

I just noticed the "App Store" icon on the main screen is badged with the number of updates available for my apps. Don't know if it's a new feature or not but I've never seen it before.
