Hi,

Total novice here; I had to google "How to install RAM" to see what this process involves:rolleyes:. It looks incredibly simple, and since I'll be buying a MBP soon I'm definitely NOT going to waste my money upgrading on the Apple site. Do I need to buy TWO of these to work together for 4 GB of RAM, or if I buy ONE will it work with my preinstalled RAM from Mac to reach 4 GB? Sorry if this is a stupid question; thanks for replies!

you can buy one and use 1 from your macbook for a total of 3G :) the biggest thing is make sure you push it all the way in....

Just received my confirmation email, albeit 2 hours after I ordered. Ordered two sticks :)

Funny thing is, I'm still waiting for Futureshop to stock the new 2.2 Macbooks. Have near $1000 worth of gift cards waiting to be spent

Shipping to Toronto ended up being $38

I don't know how that one guy got shipping for less than $20 unless the more you order, the less the total shipping costs are (He ordered 4 sticks, I ordered 2)

Anyway, nice find :)
OWC has 4 GB RAM for $125. Total after shipping would've been a bit over $150. Only about $20 difference between that and Fry's but savings are savings

If anyone cant get shipping I will give you my address and ship them world wide doing it for a few people, live at the post office:( anyways :)

That is indeed a great deal, I have ordered from Fry's before and they have very fast shipping with great service. If I had the cash I would go ahead and order one stick and upgrade my machine to 2.5gig and then get another 2 gig stick later. I don't really do anything that needs that amount of RAM but at that price it wouldn't hurt to get.

deliveries to england

I might be getting a mb in january after the expo, but do you know if frys ships to england??

Yeah cheap is right!!! I bought 16MB of RAM for my Performa 575 back in 1994... Yeah, you read that right... 16MB... $600 US... those were the days !!!
Well, I bought 4 MB of RAM for my Mac II for $500.

Just received my confirmation email, albeit 2 hours after I ordered. Ordered two sticks :)

Yes, mine shipped today, for $19.54. I was surprised that it shipped so soon, because it was apparently back-ordered, and when I phoned to enquire when it would likely come in, I was told they were expecting a shipment after the 26th. Very pleased to find out it shipped a week earlier than expected!

Not sure why some other posters have paid higher shipping, or been refused shipment to Canada.

Yes they shipped

Just got my JUST SHIPPED notice, they are coming my way!!!!!!

Looks like the deal is history :( no longer in stock;0 TOLD you it would not last!!!

Sweet! mine shipped too!

Im going to get them on the 26th Same day my new MBP gets here. Got both tracking #'s today!

I am so glad i placed my order, I almost missed out on it.

Thanks everyone on this thread. I hope these are the right module for my MBP and everything works good.

Mine's on its way too. Excited to take my 15" 2.2ghz MBP to the max.

What're you guys going to do with your old 1gb sticks?

Wow, mine apparently arrived today at noon but no one was home

That's pretty quick considering the fact that I ordered yesterday at 4pm and live in Toronto. That's only 20 hours!

I have a feeling that I was charged so much more ($40 compared to $20) because they gave me priority international shipping, which I didn't request. To be honest, there wasn't even an option to choose which method of shipping you wanted if you said that you lived in Canada. They just calculated an amount prior to checkout without letting me choose a method of shipment

Anyway, the e-mail they sent me to confirm my order had a tracking number on it, so I went to DHL and entered it. It appears to be mine, as it says it was delivered to Markham, Canada which is technically part of Toronto but not my part. However, when I go to track my order on Fry's.com it says Tracking Order not available yet.

So it could be mine, or it might not be

Your MacBook Pro will come with 2 x 1 Gb modules from Apple. In order to upgrade, you will have to take one or both out, because there are only 2 sockets.

Add one 2 Gb 2 Gb + 1 Gb = 3 GB and one 1 Gb module left over

Add two 2 Gb 2 Gb + 2 Gb = 4 Gb and two 1 Gb modules left over

Those 1 Gb modules can be used in any other intel Core Macintosh.

Keep in mind that a MacBook or Mini has the similar problem -- they ship with both slots filled with 512 Mb modules.

hmm... Is this sale still going on? I looked at the link and it said it was invalid. :( I called twice and they hung up on me :/

I try to give my original ram away on the forum....if someone needs it

Nice gesture, but I'd keep your RAM as a backup and in case
you need to send it to Apple for service. They've been
known to refuse service when generic ram is used.

So that Transcend deal is no longer going (modules are
back up to $60). Not that it matters for me, I will likely buy
1st party ram (Samsung or Micron) from OWC.

Grr... I can't believe it! I dont care how good their deals are, I've been hung up on 3 times and I was put on hold for eight minutes until I hung up. I know its rash, but I would not go back to them!
