sorry to interrupt the back and forth...but has anyone gotten their display from a reseller yet? I ordered mine 2 days after they were introduced and still no word on where they are. Any one else in this situation?

Sigh...If only the apple online store didn't charge sales tax, I wouldn't be in this predicament.

Ok, Why did the ship date on my 23" CD change from 7/26 to 8/24???
I ordered like 2 hours after they we're announced. My 2.5G5 sill says 7/30, what will that change to October???
WTF???

I ordered my 20" the day they were released from a UK reseller, and no sign yet, I have been assured it would be in July, tick tock, tick tock...

Have 23" but lack my 2.5

Good to their word the courier company have dropped off my 23" :)
My wife was even impressed by it's size (phnar phnar)

Now I don't want to be a whining bitch, but I had an e-mail on 21/7 that my display had shipped, then on the 22/7 I had an e-mail telling me that the adapter had not shipped. :(

But the adapter had just been shipped :) So I check the tracker and the adapter shipped today 5 days after Apple realised that they had initially forgotten to ship it. How the... what the... but...

Anyroad the display is crap, sits there in it's box tripping the dog and scaring the cat, no sodding 2.5 to plug the thing into.

Look on the bright side, your already half way there. If you ordered the stock 2.5 then your dream come true is near.

My 23" arrived today. There are two dead pixels. I called Apple and they said that it would take 8 or more for a repair/return. I can live with the two, but it doesn't thrill me for all that money.

Speaking of which, I ordered my G5 and the display before June 18th so that I would benefit from the Brilliant Savings rebate. I was assured on three occasions that Apple would honor the rebate, even after the machine was delayed and the display was upgraded automatically. I called because the fine print says you must take possession of it by June 26th. Anyway, they assured me it would be fine.

I think it'll still be fine after talking to them today, but one unexpected glitch came up which others waiting on this rebate would be wise to check on. The "purchase date" for the display and G5 were both separate dates and they were both after June 26th. Apparently, Apples uses the ship date as the official purchase date. I was on the phone a while straightening this out.

The display rocks. It's also much lighter than I had thought it would be.

So you got the non-aluminium display right? Cause I see you used the rebate, or did your order got upgraded?

Just curious to know, cause i'm beginning to get scared if the new 23"s (al) also ship with some dead pixels..

No, as I said in my post, it was automatically upgraded. I got the new display and they said the upgrade would apply. What I didn't count on was the order date being changed.

I'm not surprised that the new ones are shipping with dead pixels. I just didn't want any in *my* new display. I don't know of any product with any size display, from a camera LCD to a big screen, that doesn't ship with dead pixels. What varies is how many ship with them. In reality, it doesn't affect my work, just my sense of dignity. ;)

no 23inch shipping

I just spoke to someone at Apple and no 23inch displays have shipped via the online store. they're missing a part or something like that.

unless you got lucky at one of Apple's retail stores we all have to wait.
Me and my firends ordered three on June 28th 12:30pm (eastern)

never heard of anyone with dead pixels either on the newbie, could anyone verify this

Mine came via the online store. I ordered the original one in mid June. Apple automatically upgraded it the day they were announced. It arrived today.

I don't know if mine is the first report of one with dead pixels but, as I said, dead pixels on displays are not that uncommon. My old 17" had one. My 20 has a couple. Everyone I know seems to have one. To me, the exceptionally lucky people are the ones with no dead pixels. I still don't like it, of course, as I'm a working photographer and videographer.

Man, if I paid $1800 for a monitor, I'd be pretty damn pissed if there were any dead pixels.

I second the fishtank's comment, however, it's not that unusual, or rather, sad but true that happens. $1800 is the edu price BTW. The HP 23" people have been talking about around these forums like it's the cat's meow that costs $1700 (new, refurbs you can find for $1600) has worse than two dead pixels by many people's accounts and HP's number of dead pixel allowance is two Apples.

I paid less than $1500 for it, if you count the Brilliant Savings rebate. I guess many of you have not seen a lot of LCD monitors. I've worked on many, in many different environments, and I've seen many dead pixels. Like I said, it doesn't make me happy, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

I must be one of the exceptionally lucky people you referred to earlier. I've had seven LCDs of both the laptop and desktop kind and not one dead or stuck pixel yet. Very very lucky.

Actually you're not that much in the majority, many people have no dead pixels. I've no idea what the split is between monitors with and without that come from the factory. I don't consider myself lucky but my iBook and my 20" plastic Cinema Display haven't any dead pixels.

23 inch FED EX number

:) :p  Great Ooogley Moogley! Mine just got a fed ex number and is scheduled to arrive tomorrow - sad - but without its sexy G5 body -

so I have a REALLY REALLY important question - will my DVI port on my ATI 9600XT on my PC run this beast?

I mean it should it is the same card on the entry level G5 (more or less)....

iDave Question

I will be sure - I will feel like a sacraligious biggiot running XP on the display - but I blame my falling into the seventh layer of hell on the 90nm Fab Plant delays. (Can't blame Stevie J cause that would be like blaming god)

So iDave - you ever hear of Pagosa Springs Colorado (south central area of state I think)? Is it nice?

Thanks!

IJ

WTF???

Things might not be as bad as they seem. I originally had a ship on or before 7/26 too. When I checked this morning (7-27) it was changed to 8/24 too. Well, I just got a shipped email with the tracking number (about 23:30 on 7/27).

Now I just need my 2.5 ships on Friday like they're claiming. :)
