No, I was wearing a jersey ("JOHANSON 37") just like I always do.

And the Panthers SUCKED on Sunday.

ok...I saw a guy (I guess you figured) wearing that, and he had the name "Clay" written on the duct tape across his back. A shot in the dark.

sorry your guys played so poorly. It was an absolutely beautiful day for a game, though. I had a ball.

Even with the ankle he should have been picked. Maybe rookie ofthe year...

The NFC stinks - I wrote off the Eagles season so many times this year and all the other teams keep them in it and now they are finally coming around - it would ba a nice Christmas if they can beat Dallas...

And the CHAMP IS !!!

ME

Hey if my Steelers blow, my fantasy team should be good at least

see you all next season

maybe next year I'll do some of these leagues for $$ :)

Indeed. I can't believe I went from 6-0 and total dominance to 4th place...

I think next season I'll be sure to set things up a bit earlier so that we can draw a full compliment of 12 teams (maybe 14  ).

Those of you who participated this season, let me know of anychanges that you might want for next year. For example, I am thinking of adjusting QB yardage to 1 for every 40y instead of 50y, passing TD down to 4 (or 5) points, and awarding special team TDs to defenses.

However, the one joy of this miserable FF season ending is that I can now bask in the glory of my Iggles in peace without worrying about how Brian Westbrook is killing me...

I'm in a few leagues and the one you made and a Steeler one I'm in are similar. You really can't generate big points unless you score a TD. otherwise you could have a monster running game like having 140 yards rushing, but all you'd get is 7 points. I'm in this one league, and the scoring is odd. At first I thought it was dumb, but I grew to like it. If a WR gets 80 yards you get 80 points, QB throws for 200 yards you get 50 points, DF is 10 points for sacks. Now I wouldn't do it with those extreme numbers, but I liked having two ways of generating big points. A TD, and reaching a certain yardage mark.

Welp... 1 more week of reg season and it's onto the playoffs!
For some of us, at least. :)
Yeah, the Panthers make it in as a #6 seed if:

  • The Redskins defeat the Giants Saturday night (likelihood = 50%)...
  • ... and the Panthers defeat the Saints Sunday afternoon (likelihood = 15%)...
  • ... and the Bears defeat the Packers Sunday night (likelihood = 75%).
The Bears have nothing to play for, so they may slack off against the Packers... not good for the Panthers. Also not good is that the Saints can get the #2 seed and a valuable bye week if they beat the Panthers, so we can expect them to give their all.

Not looking good for the Panthers. I ain't holding my breath for a playoff spot this season.

i wouldn't worry about the bears not giving it their all. the teams are huge rivals, they'll want to finish the season strong by killing the Packers. i'd say youd have to worry about the Redskins more.

:)

The Bears aren't planning on resting their starters as much as someone in their position might (maybe grossman and jones), but you also have to realize that Tank Johnson is re-enterting the lineup and I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to earn his starting spot back for the playoffs with some excellent play.

similar story for the redskins vs giants. while the giants are playing to get a playoff spot, they have played really poorly lately, whereas the redskins have played more or less solidly, but have found a way to lose games. so, it'll probably be close, and the redskins will just fail to win.

A good question, and it'll be must watcher if that's the way it goes.

Da Bears have an edge, as of right now (IMO).

Dallas is a dome team and Soldier Field is ****ing COLD in January. Plus, there's some real problems going on inside the organization. Ones we can all see in the media, but I expect to be 10x worse than what we're actually seeing. Glad to see Terry Glenn is continuing his vein of malcontention. He's a scrub. I expect Dallas to fall apart.

Beyond that, it depends on which Bears team shows up.

Pretty much the way I'm seeing it, too, and hoping. I wanted to figure in performances vs. Eagles as another factor in favor of the Bears, but they didn't play eachother this year. Dallas lost twice against them. Aside from the embarrassing L against the Fins (the Pats game 17-13 in the respectable zone), the Bears seem to have recovered from a the bad Nov.

The bears offense has recovered, but I don't think the defense is. Hopefully the return of Tank Johnson, and a recovered Nathan Vasher and Peanut Tillman can restore some of the luster. But we will still be without Tommie Harris and Mike Brown. The defense is banged up, and hasn't been the dominant force it should be.

But I do agree it depends on which Bears team shows up. We've seen the offense, defense and Special Teams, click on the same day, we just need that to happen in the playoffs.

bears slack vs the pack?? i think not. lovie said when he was hired, it be a good season if the bears beat the packers. well even though its a meaningless game as far as going into the playoffs its still the packers, if they loose to the pack, that would kinda be an unsucessfull season in their eyes. they want to beat the packers whenever they can.

I think people make too much of weather. Its been rather nice around here lately (chicago). Also I think that home field advantage has much more to do with the fans and the environment they cause (home teams win around 70% of the time) .... MUCH MORE than the weather. Dallas players have played outside in their career, so I think the physical elements are much less of a factor than

Of course home field is an advantage, that goes without saying, as does the bye week. I didn't think that needed to be enumerated.

I would have to disagree with you, weather can be a HUGE factor.

If it's a nice day? Weather effect nullified. If it's breezy from off the lake? Kicking and passing become difficult. We'll see a lot of the ground game and short passing yardage. It changes the whole game plan. If it's sub-zero, everyone is effected, bodies move slower. Hits become more painful. Your energy gets sapped much more quickly. Despite dome players maybe having played outside during their careers, they're still totally spoiled by 'controlled' temps and nil-winds for at least 8 games a season. If it snows? Well, we all know how warm-weather/dome teams cope with snow games versus teams more accustomed to late season fun.

I never discount weather as another man on the bench. I know that Miami hates coming to NE in December.

I do agree for the most part but then I recall that Falcons @ Green Bay playoff game a few years ago... and remember that in the playoffs, you can't rely on anything any longer. In the last couple of years, aren't the road teams ahead of the home teams in playoff winning percentages?
