As SOON as?

I beg to differ. They've had quite a few sucktacular years.. then a few aaaaaalmost there years, and then 2 solid years. Statistically speaking, SB losers go back to sucktacular status. Something the Squawks might have trouble climbing out of.

Seattle's Record since league realignment:
2002 7-9 second in NFC West
2003 10-6 second in NFC West, made playoffs
2004 9-7 first in NFC West, made playoffs
2005 13-3 first in NFC West, first-round bye, made Super Bowl.

Only missed the playoffs once since joining the NFC and already have two Division Championships and a Superbowl appearance. They have already done better in the NFC than they ever had in the AFC West.

Hmm I thought they moved to NFC earlier than 2002.

Anyway.. the NFC isn't the powerhouse it was pre-98.
"Doing better" there isn't all it's cracked up to be. :)

haha..with six games a year against Arizona, San Franscisco, and St. Louis that tends to pad things. Though this year might be different with Leinart and the Edge out in the desert.

Too true!

I'm curious if James can be the catalyst to put the Cards over the edge. They've shown such promise the last 2-3 years, only to fizzle badly. The Cards being decent.. well, that might just be a sign of the Apocalypse. :D

seriously. 1st the bungals are good, now arizona. what is the world coming to?

Well.. the Bengals were decent in the 80s (81, 86, 88). It was the 90s that really hurt them.
Zona has not had a winning season since 1998 (9-7), and before that.. 1984 (9-7)!

Didn't think Leinart had signed yet? And more rookie QBs fail than succeed in their first year.

It will be interesting to see how James does with a less strong O'line in front of him than he had in Indy. And I'm still less than convinced about the defensive backs...

Still... they have more chance than either SF or St Louis in a very weak division...

Good point Spidey.

Edge isn't young anymore, and (IMO) he's not been the same since his injury. A weaker O-line, and lack of real downfield threats to take the heat off him..

My mistake. If he remains unsigned for too much longer I see him losing the possibility of winning the starting role similiar to the Brees/Rivers ordeal during training camp in 2004.

and if by suck you mean winning the Superbowl then yes, I completely agree with you....and if that's not what you meant than you bite your tongue

well i'm setting my expectations low, but hoping for the best. i would like them to do well this year, but i don't have any delusions either.

Credit to cnn hotspot:

I wonder who will hold out longer, Paris or Leinart?

Agents get your players into camp - it hurts their careers to hold out. When agents hold out for more money it is only in the agent's best interests (commission).

-Monday Night F Ball on ESPN
-J Madden to make ridiculous comments
-Troy P to take someone's head off, and then calmly walk away while blessing himself
-Every game against the Bengals cuz they hate us so much
-Reggie Bush not playing a single down
-Leinhart being the new Ryan Leaf
-V Young blowin up
-S Holmes getting rookie of the year...ya right

The beauty of living on the West Coast. Football from when you wake up to when you go to bed every Sunday.:D

Caught a little bit of the Indy/St. Louis last night at the bar though didn't have a good view of the TV. Guess I'll just have to wait until the weekend.

Ya

no more bar for me...I've had enough, even though getting served coffee and eggs by ridiculously hot, semi clothed waitresses at 10:00 am is nice.....I'm done.

I hate how you may or may not get the audio for your game....and you have to stare up at the screens, .....makes my neck hurt....

And the depression of being a football fan in the UK :( The good news is that you have Sunday daytime to do things in but the games start at 6pm UK time and to go out to a bar means getting home at 1.30am after the early game - and recording the Sunday night/MNF games!

I always assumed people in the UK thought football was stupid......

I think they have a much better opportunity this year, since even their backup QB (for when Rex gets injured) is much better than anyone they've had in past years.

Plus, if they can keep their running backs reasonably healthy, they'll have a great tandem there, and decent receiver corps. Plus their defense, if anything, will be better.

Great defense.
Reasonable offense.

Hopefully they'll at least win one playoff game.

Prediction..

Seattle will win the superbowl that was robbed from them last year.

probably the most likely prediction, but an incredibly safe one, wouldn't you say?

how about a revitalized oakland raiders or san francisco 49ers? yes, too early according to anybody who watches and follows those teams, but the raiders with moss and shell (as coach, again) or the niners with smith can throw some monkey wrenches into peoples' predictions

i am waiting for a bay area superbowl, the way our region had a bay area world series during the earthquake year...but if we do have a bay area superbowl, i will say it's good defense beating good offense as is the case in the vast majority of playoff games and superbowls...the same way that that baseball's A's great pitching shut down SF's legendary and record breaking big hitters

I'm no Cards fan (go Cowboys!), but I wanted to remind you about Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, Brian Johnson, et al. In fact, I'd say all they have going for them are downfield threats....
