2007 was the year I...

for me, in 2007 I...

  • Got married and after all the rain this year, it was on a beautiful sunny summers day :)
  • Went to Berlin for Honeymoon
  • Bought Macbook Pro
  • Moved mortgage and missed all the interest rate increases last year
  • Bought first digital SLR camera
  • got another tattoo

- An uber awesome person made me a Demi-God :)
- Caroline and I celebrated our 5th year together
- Got my family into "Mac". Everyone has an iPod now and theres a heavily used iMac in the study.
- Realised I'd find it hard to move away from my town purely for the beautiful and epic landscapes I'd miss.
- Lost then found a good friend (damn leash :D)
- Saw the last of the good Doctor Who sidekicks. Catherine Tate? BLEH.
- Only game released was a demo piece for a week-long contest, completely inspired by Mario Galaxy.

In 2007, I...

  • Decided I wanted to work in a completely different area to my studies
  • Experienced debt, and vowed to never go into it again
  • Appreciated my friends at home a whole lot more
  • Met a few really nice people
  • Became increasingly paranoid
  • Lurked on MR a whole lot more :D
  • Cleared out a lot of my childhood things from my room
  • Took up playing football (soccer), and have thoroughly enjoyed the exercise and challenge
 
Graduated from Gonzaga (should have also had a minor in chemistry but the catalogue didn't change in time)
Decided I wanted to go into lab science and not field science
Got a job/moved to a new city
Rethought my philosophy blah blah blah boring stuff
Decided that indeed working in medical research isn't very fun
Decided maybe I should rethink field science
Looked at various graduate schools

first one was a seat belt ticket. guy pulled me over on my way to lunch. after he found out he couldn't get me for my bumpers, he gave me a seat belt ticket. second one was for driving my truck with expired tags. 3rd was for the same thing.

my only vehicle, only drive it to work and back, and the one time i go somewhere else i get caught. it just had a laundry list of things wrong with it keeping it from passing inspection. non of which made it dangerous to drive. just need one more thing and it will be legal.

-The year where I said f*** it to Best Buy
-Got a job at Radioshack
-Got a cell phone (after saying that I'll never ever get one ever.)
-Got a 5G iPod and actually owned a current iPod for a while
-The year where I wasnt with anyone at all
-I turned 18, which opened up a ton more jobs
-I got a ton of new computer stuff, including a 24" Sony CRT monitor
-The first anime con I've ever been to. Otakon 07. That was the funnest 3 days of my entire life.
-Suffered bouts of depression and personal and emotional lows
-Had friends there who actually care and helped me through my problems
-Lost a bit of weight
-Became a lease holder on my house
 
2007 was the year that I...
-...will continue to write on my papers for a month
-Bought a MBP
-Had my one year Mac-iversary
-Started slacking off
-Got a learners' permit
-Continued to be single
-Discovered my calling
-Sneezed while having a nose bleed
-Got another sun burn
-Didn't die
-...generally though was ok and will try to improve the next year
 
2007 was the year I:

The Good:

Won a photography contest
Got a new DSLR :D (Canon XTi)
Got a new iMac (20" Alum.)
Saw a camel spider, an amblypigid, a hydra and a green tree boa live and up close :)
Went spelunking again :cool:
Learned how to tag birds
Saved a sloth from getting hit in the freeway
Attended an entomology congress and presented 8 papers.
Took some of the best pics I've taken yet (both macros and portraits)
Became a TA (Animal Biology Lab)
Got my grades up
Broke up with my GF (the relationship was becoming intoxicating)
Got a new car

The Bad:

Lost my dad to a heart attack :(
Felt I lost a few good friends
Became increasingly apathetic. :(
Realized that I have to work on a lot of character flaws
Broke a few hearts (without knowing it, which sucks since a few are good friends)
 
In 2007 I...

- Joined a fraternity
- Made the relations between my ex-gf and myself much worse
- Strengthened my bonds with a girl I've cared about for a long time (but never got the chance to have a relationship with... hopefully 2008 will bring good luck)
- Was featured in a newspaper (for the iPhone!)
- Drove 4 hours just to get some White Castle (for real...Georgia has none)
- Found out what the fuss was about Organic Chemistry (the pre-med destroyer class)
- Went to Lollapalooza with my best friend from Elementary School
- Finally got over the way I handled my mom's breast cancer 4 years ago
- Learned to accept myself for who I am
 
I don't feel like listing everything and I won't, but here's the most prominent thing I my mind right now.

  • realized just how far the junkie a**holes in my family will go to get money
  • let my wife's nephew and parents move in with us (thanks to my junkie brother-in-law and his new junkie wife)
  • not felt safe in my own home
  • decided that I have too many toys and need to simplify things

• Fully supported Dennis Kucinich for President
• Everyone looked up to me at school
• Decided to make something of my short time on Earth
• Donated Blood
• Met Dennis Kucinich
• Got a stickam account
• Got really close to someone
• Realized that I will make an impact
2007 was the result of a blossoming of a lifetime of ideas
 
  • the year my girlfriend told me she didn't feel "that way" about me anymore
  • started my first real (post-college) job
  • bought a MBP
  • moved to Virginia (for work) from NY
  • started eating sushi
  • waited in line for an iPhone on launch day.
  • realized i don't need a lot of money to be happy
  • stopped eating red meat

* Realized how superficial some can be
* Realized how great family is
* Realized friends come and go
* Do not want a dilbert job
* Didnt shoot any fireworks.....really pissed at that or see Rockies games and I live here and we even made WS
* got an ipt after my ipod was stolen
* got leopard and a wii
* waiting to find that special girl......big goal
* make it a point to not be on my computer much unless needed. i want to lead a king of the hill type lifestyle haha...aka drinking beer outside with friiends
* goal for this year is to run my first marathon
 
Crashed two cars
moved three times
fell in love
realized time is running out
Learned some lessons
Found out why women confide in me
Spent 4k on a night of drinking
 
2007 was the year that I....

  • Bought my first Mac and never looked back,
  • Joined MacRumors,
  • Sorted myself/immediate family financially,
  • Started saving to go on holiday/vacation abroad for the 1st time (since married),
  • Got Cookie the amazing parrot.. and also lost her :( (R.I.P sweet baby girl),
  • Got our 1st LCD TV,
  • Got Ruby the African Grey,
  • Started decorating the house (just not finished lol),
  • Came off my anti-depressants yay,
  • Took the DWP to court for my disability after they kept trying to say I was lying, even though I had stacks of medical evidence and medical practitioners on my side
  • Won the DWP court battle

There is probably a lot more but thats all I can think of off the top of my head.
 
Here it goes:

Did a major career change, managing over 200 people.
That career change happened from one country to another.
I bought a sports car.
I bought a condo.
I have still saving accounts after all of spending!
I read quite a few books in 2007.
