To be fair, Keane didn't play well in the previous game against Everton, but that was largely due to the rest of the team not passing to him (and on the few occasions when they did, he didn't do much).

Don't understand the attraction of Ngog - haven't seen him do much at all to be honest. I'd rather see El Zhar on the bench (assuming he's fit?), at least he's looked lively when he's come on.

Torres and Gerrard have a good understanding, but when Keane is added to the mix it seems that the three have yet to really link up efficiently on a regular basis.

On a side note, USA 3-2 Sweden last night, both squads fielding younger players. USA midfielder Sacha Kljestan scored his first, second, and third senior international goals with a hat trick. The USA squad was mostly made up of younger prospects from the MLS. My own Columbus Crew had three representatives on the pitch, a bit of a reward for their championship season. Next up is our important World Cup qualifier with Mexico - and Blackadder will be in the house for that one!

"It's always important for us to progress in this competition, it's massively vital to try and win the FA Cup, another trophy. I think Robbie Keane has a future here. I wanted to pick 19 players, but could only have 18."

Robbie Keane: Liverpool's 19th most important player. :D

Liverpool needs to avenge the league draw with a win here.

EDIT...or they could draw again. :(

Especially bad result for me seeing as USA number 1 Tim Howard's error sealed the draw.

I phookin' hate millwall...
They're not exactly popular around here either to say the least, especially at the moment.

Is SportDaq still going?

Is there a MacRumors league going?

Yes. Though, I can't remember what code you need to join.
That's the MR fantasy football league which is in its second season now, we don't have a SportDaq one though (unless I've been a bit thick and missed it).

To be honest I think Tim Howard was still in awe of Torres' skill to put Gerrard through and can thus be forgiven of not paying full attention.

That doesn't bode well for the USA if we ever face Spain in the Confederations Cup or World Cup!

EDIT: Jaffa, looks like you narrowly escaped having John Arne Riise on the squad...I used to rate him but as I watched more and more football I decided he really wasn't that good. Cannon leg, but no accuracy and only average at his primary job as a defender.

I dunno... obviously we're not quite at Liverpool's level so he might have been able to do a job for us. I suppose we'll never know now.

Still, at least we're showing a bit of ambition in our transfer dealings - although we can't really be surprised at being priced out for Riise. I mean, never mind the transfer fee - we've all seen his wage slip. We can't match that... :p

True!:D I guess it's not so much that I think he's rubbish; more that he costs too much for what you get.

There is a big transition in taking a Championship side that has earned promotion, keeping it up, and turning it into a Premier League squad proper. You have to get new players that will raise the club's game but it has to be done on a budget.

Indeed – and for us being sensible with our money is particularly important given that we had severe financial troubles up until a couple of years ago. Our former chairman Adam Pearson got things under control and now I think I'm right in saying that our total debt only amounts to about £250,000 (which is absolutely nothing in Premier League terms), but you only have to look at the likes of Leeds United to see what happens when clubs gamble their futures away.

We've been pretty sensible so far with some good quality free signings (Geovanni being a prime example) and where we have spent money we've got some good deals I think. Bullard at £5 million is the one that sticks out (his fee is double our previous record spending), but if he has the impact we're all hoping he has then it will prove to be money well spent.

Are Spurs done with the FA Cup now? I'm looking for their next match and I see that Manyure are playing the winner of the Derby County/Forest tilt and going against Spurs.

Spurs are out of the FA Cup. It's a knockout competition, so if you lose a match that's it until next season.

They still have the League Cup final against Man Utd to come on the 1st of March.

Hearing a rumour that Robbie Keane isn't even in the squad for todays game and has stormed out... hope not :(

Rumour is that he's on his way back to Spurs. Looks like Harry is trying to recreate the pre-Ramos team....

Hull were silly enough to do it with Bullard though.

That would be Man United thank you very much, go back to your baseball.

Could be an interesting tie that one if Derby get through – they've already shown this season that they're capable of getting a result against their more illustrious opponents.

And actually, Derby themselves know a bit about baseball grounds... ;)

he he... I thought it was 1 and 1. Oh well...

double checked it... still "manyure".

YEah and we're only top of the premier league with a game in hand, champions of Europe, champions of England and have the world player of the year.... hmmmmmmmmmmmmm real mature of you

Just a small, friendly reminder that even though we're talking about football here, with some friendly banter and some rivalry between fans of different clubs, the rules about trolling and insults still apply. ;)

I refer you to my last post regarding our Bullard spend. ;)

It isn't the fee (that was actually a bargain in some ways) but the wages. If he's on 45k a week that is some money. If Hull struggle or even go down you are stuck with a massive albatross around your neck. And he is almost 31...
