The Potters have had a grand total of 4 attempts on goal in the game, while Chelsea must have nearly thirty shots - most of them pretty poorly taken to be fair. Chelsea's finishing has really let them down today.

...and just as I type, Beletti saves some serious Chelsea blushes by slipping a header just by Sorensen. Big Phil looks a little relieved.

Stoke just need to survive through stoppage to get a deserved point.

EDIT...And Stoke lose it at the death. Disappointing. The blues crowd around Scolari celebrating as if they'd just won the league.

A typical big four finish for the Blues, but Delap had a good goal and Stoke defended well for most of the game.

I loved the scenes of the Chelsea 'fans' leaving with more than 5 minutes to go.

Shame that Stoke couldn't hold on, but a point is more than they probably expected to get.

Edit: Damn it, Fat Frank.

3-1 was a harsh scoreline - I think we deserved something from that performance. They were a little lucky with the third which looked a clear offside from our seats at least.

Still, while the cockneys face a long dark drive home we're off out to spend my tax rebate on a nice tea and drinks. Ultimately, it's a win for the Tigers. :p

Van Persie was definitely off-side during the build up.

Superb finish by Nasri for the second. Poor defending for Arsenal's first by Hull really. Still, unlucky to not maybe come away with a point.

In other news, good win for Leeds away at Brighton, with a great second from Fabian Delph. He's reportedly off to anywhere between Scum and Fulham, so who knows what's going on with his future.

Grayson's loan signings at the back and up front really made a difference, a goal from Trundle and great defending from Naylor and Dickinson.

Good times.

Excellent. I wish Charlton Athletic nothing but amusing misfortune. :p

Yes, as mentioned in an earlier post it was a bit of a makeshift defence with Zayatte being suspended and Gardner still not fit. We had Doyle at rightback, a promising prospect but still only young and lacking experience while the gaping centreback slot was filled by Sam Ricketts, a fullback by trade. Add in a debutant leftback – Kilbane, who looks a promising acquisition to be fair – and there was the possibility of some defensive misunderstandings, despite them all working their socks off. Ah well, onwards and upwards. Despite the loss, we've still got three points from our two matches against Arsenal which is pretty good return really. I suspect most City fans will be happier with our three points than most Arsenal fans will be with theirs. :p

On a positive note, one thing I was delighted to see last night was Ryan France finally making his Premier League debut. Much has been made about Myhill, Dawson and Ashbee being with the club through all four divisions of the English League (and the latter captaining us through this period, a rare if not unique feat) but France too has been with us since the old Division Three days – in fact, his journey started a little earlier as he actually joined us from non-League. He's not a spectacular player, but one of those honest hardworking ones who's happy to graft for the team and let others take the headlines. I'm really please he's had the chance to play in the Premier League with us, and not only that he put in a pretty good performance for us too.

Third was offside.

Yeah, Clichy was definitely to blame for the equaliser. With the penalty shout, I'm sorry but in my eyes Djourou looks at the ball and is trying to head it. Maybe some referees would give it, but I think it's one of those either way ones. Still, I'd be complaining quite a lot if it went the other way.

Overall though I don't think Hull deserved a point out of it.. really. Alongside the first two goals, which especially the second was very good (van Persie clear man of the match, carrying us at the moment).. van Persie hit the bar, Bendtner hit the woodwork too, and we had the third goal. Didn't watch the whole thing but - pleased with our recent form, even if we haven't been playing exceptionally.

EDIT: Jaffa, what were the Arsenal fans like yesterday?

Yeah, Clichy was definitely to blame for the equaliser.
Mendy had him completely outfoxed. The glove-favouring Gaul has been a bit of a revelation for us at times, frighteningly nippy and totally unpredictable. I don't think he knows what he's going to do himself half of the time. :p

The problem is of course that this unpredictability isn't a great asset when he's been played at rightback. During the opening stages of our match against Liverpool Mendy was making Dossena look like a right chump, until the injury to McShane meant that he was moved back into defence.

On that subject, McShane did very well for Sunderland in his first match for them since he was recalled from loan – giving away the penalty that lost them the game. Good lad. :D

They made more noise than we heard at the Emirates, although that wasn't exactly tricky. ;)

The thing with away fans of course is that generally the people who are prepared to travel distance to watch their team (especially on a cold winter evening) are more likely to be the ones who'll be vocal in their support, and they're crammed together rather than being spread out around a large stadium.

They were in good voice at the start and when you had the lead – when the scores were level things quietened down quite a bit in the North Stand. I think a bit of 'Oh no, not again' nervousness crept in, especially as it was Cousin who got the equaliser just like at the Emirates. But overall, they were very vocal and supportive I thought.

Oh, and I won't disagree that van Persie had an excellent game either. He looked very classy indeed (even if he was offside for that third ;)).

The 209th Merseyside Derby kicks off now. Lord Blackadder should be happy that both Torres and Keane are starting together in a 442 formation. Alonso is also starting. No Fellaini for the next two games (I'm expecting something really fabulous with his hair when he comes back). Any one know the odds for red cards? I assume there will be at least one tonight.

BTW, the game is live on Setanta in the States for anyone who cares.

Prediction: 1-1

I'm not sure about that...I think I'm bad luck - I suspect that anything I think should be done is the opposite of the correct approach! Nevertheless, the jersey is on. Setanta carries this one stateside, so I don't get to watch. :(

We need three points today.

EDIT: ...and get just one. Will this be remembered as the day we gave the title to United? I hope not...ruined my day at any rate. Torres' miss will be the big talking point I imagine.

Bellamy has a habbit of getting into trouble with managers and fellow players but seemed a bit settled under Mark Hughes in the past so hopefully he'll behave.

Unless that's him upset Robinho already!

I see Joe Kinnear and Phil Brown and are in trouble with the FA. What did they do? (no link available)

Basically, they had a bit of an argument on the touchline during our recent cup tie and the referee sent them both up to the stands for the remainder of the game. Tempers boiled over after your old pal Daniel Cousin got flattened by a Newcastle player.

I expect Kinnear swore a bit, too. :p

We're still a quality side - Ferguson better be making those sacrifices to the devil every day if he wants the title this year. He'll need all the evil help he can get. ;)

Hahah bitterness? i'm jesting..... yeah liverpool is a quality side and don't forget there's a loooong way too go yet, it's to tight at the top and bottom of the league right now it can go anyway!!! But i still believe we will win it (we just want to even your record) :D

I think as long as Fergie is in the saddle, Man U will be fancied for the title. More than ever, every single game counts. If United lose a single game it's even stevens again. Of course, Liverpool could find themselves six points adrift at any moment. And Chelsea is still in the running of course.

I hope it's another close title race though either way. The relegation battle looks set to be another nail-biter as well.

Don't be silly, he hasn't sold his soul to the devil or owt – the devil sold his soul to Sir Alex. That's how downright evil the scarlet-nosed Scot is.

Meanwhile, some good news for pachyderm and other fans of Sheffield Wednesday. The Wendies have got a new board, and rather delightfully I hear that one of the new chairman's first official acts was to stop them playing after goal music. That's one club turned away from the dark side, hopefully more will follow this shining example.

What a game at Turf Moore!

3-0 to Burnley with 5 minutes to go.

That will take it to extra time and if it stays 3-0 they will go through on away goals!

So far if you look at each half of the two games it is:

1 - 0
0 - 4
1 - 0
2 - 0

What a game!
