Arsenal coughing and spluttering into life.. let's hope it improves. Still, no complaints about the result... :)

The pub we were in pre-match was packed – probably about 95% of supporters were City with the rest Fulham, except for a single solitary Arsenal fan sat at a table by himself cheering on his team on the telly. He appeared to be drinking some concoction with lime juice in it, with a straw.

The pub ran out of Fosters. The Londoners weren't happy. :p

:D :D :D

Congrats on the result today and welcome to the premiership.

If we play as well as we can do then we have a fighting chance of survival.

I don't think Hull can expect to do much against the big four, or even the Tottenhams and Aston Villas, but if you can hold your own against the bottom half of the table survival becomes a pretty realistic proposition.

Indeed – it's about what we do against the teams in the bottom half, and snatching what we can from rest. Basically with the big four though it's going to be damage limitation.

Right, I'm off – we're about to make our Match Of The Day league debut. :p

Gah, that stuff is as bad as Budweiser! Fosters: Australian for urine.
..
Our Southern friends cheered up when they were told that the supplies of Coors were still plentiful, so they opted for that rather than sampling one of the wide range of well kept bitters that were on offer.

There really is no helping some people, is there? :p

On the subject of those who are beyond help, one bookmaker is already paying out on Stoke City's relegation from the Premier League – on the opening day of the season.

Young Fraizer's been handed a starting place in Manchester United's tie against Newcastle – and already in the first ten minutes he's had a really good chance on goal.

I'm a little torn – I'd love to see him do well with this opportunity but I know that with every good performance from him the already slim chance of us arranging a loan diminishes.

He looks quite dangerous...based on his form here and in the Community Shield match he may end up being a fixture at the club, to the disappointment of the Hull faithful.

Great goal from Obefami Martins to put Newcastle ahead....and before I even finish typing that Satan...erm United equalizes. Newcastle look weak at the back and they'll be very lucky to get a draw - to even do that I think they need to score again, because I just know United will. New signing Coloccini looks like he's still trying to adjust to the league.

This would be United's league if it weren't for that pesky Roman Abramovich.

A very good result :D

wolf in a goofy avatars clothing? ;)

satan was correct... ;)

Well they do call themselves the "red devils", so it isn't like they are pretending they aren't associated with the prince of darkness.

Newcastle should take heart in their performance, though I think United should win this game. They showed better form here than at pretty much any time last season.

Wow, Chealsea destroyed Pompey...I did not expect them to roll over and die like that!

EDIT: Jonas Gutierrez is having a very good debut match for Newcastle, with good pace and vision.

EDIT 2:
Newcastle earn a well-deserved point at Old Trafford, and Man U have dropped two points on the rest of the big four to start the campaign. Still, the same thing happened for United last year, and look what happened. If Tevez or Ronaldo were available United would have won.

Jonas (Spidey) Gutierrez is a top player, makes it even better that we signed (stole) him via the Webster rule.

What about Michael Owen & Mark Viduka out injured affecting the result?

Newcastle are starting to put a team together but need more players, as the thought of Alan Smith as the only back-up in midfield is scary.

So good to come away with a point from the Theatre of Tourists instead of the normal pasting.

and Chelsea look awesome.

Good point, but on a couple of attacks the Newcastle defense was sliced open only for the attack to break down due to miscommunication between Rooney and Campbell. The rookie has the pace but hasn't had time to develop any kind of partnership. With Tevez up there it would be hard to see the game ending 1-1, despite the fact that Newcastle defended well. Tevez is just so fast...

Maybe if Owen were out there they could have applied better pressure at United's end.

Not just clubs in the north of England - last night (in MLS news) the Columbus Crew won a tough game at home against FC Dallas 2-1 with both goals manufactured though crosses by our evergreen Argentinian, Guillermo Barros-Schelotto.

When in doubt, get a South American. :D

yep, I reckon those South Americans can play a bit!!

I hope we play ManUre as the first game of the season every year!

It's about squads, that's what winning the league is about.

True, and that's usually Manchester United's strong point - they are deep and everyone on their bench would be starters for any other premier league team, certainly any team outside the big four.

Not today though. This is a game that we might all be talking about next May...

I wish.

Man U will be fine and beating the **** out of everyone soon enough. I wouldn't worry too much if I were a Red Devil supporter... now Spurs though...
