Any fellow fans on here?

Ah yes, the SPL...the league with only two teams.:D

If I was going to support an SPL team it would not be one of the old firm, that's too easy. Probably Hearts, or maybe Inverness or Aberdeen. Of the Old Firm teams I prefer Rangers, even though I was raised Catholic.

So, Capello has handed the captain's armband back to Terry. I agree that he is a player who always gives 100%, an important trait for a captain.

But whenever Chelsea commit a foul, Terry leads the charge on the ref and allows his players to surround him. He's also shown a real petulant streak.

For me it would be Rio or Gerrard, but I'm not on the training ground so perhaps Capello sees something I don't.

When Rio kicked that female steward I would've taken him out of the running. My own personal views (and it seems the country's) on JT and his behaviour on and off the pitch should rule him out. Oh well.

For those who have an iPhone/iPod Touch check out iFooty (iTunes Link), only gets the data from the BBC but seems like it may become a personal favourite. It is free at the moment as well.

Thanks for the link. I wasn't aware of this app. Pardon my ignorance on the BBC service from which it collects its data (I use livescores.com) but do you get live goal updates with this app? If so how does it work?

My brother is semi pro and when i go and watch him Im usually the 'guy in the crowd with the scores'

Looking through the application it seems to be pretty in depth (espically for a free application). I literally found it about 2 minutes before I posted so I haven't had a chance to check on a match day but it seems like it retrives the liver text updates for the matchs and will display the live scores.

However to do this you have to go into the club and then view Match so it might be slightly annoying to view a league as a whole at a time but you can find out the information.

Unfortunately it only goes down to League Two, but it seems like a very good start to an application.

Who does he play for?

I forgot about that incident...yeah, that should eliminate him.

I'd like to ask Capello what the problem is with Gerrard...is it that he plays too far forward? Or is it a personality issue?

He used to play for Matlock Town but he now plays for Staveley Miners. I'm the guy farthest left (black coat) sat in the stand in the main pic. :D This is about an hour before kickoff.

Maybe it's language skills ;)

Nah, I reckon it might be because his position isn't guaranteed.. Gerrard, Lampard, Barry, Hargreaves, Huddlestone etc. - he wouldn't want to have to pick him because he's captain even if he didn't suit the formation.

As I've said several times before, I think that John Terry is a very talented footballer and I think both Chelsea and England benefit from his presence.

However, I've serious concerns about his attitude towards officials and other players. He's an odious little man I wouldn't put anywhere near the captaincy unless he can demonstrate a total and genuine change in his behaviour.

As far as I know he's been in every single England squad in the last several years, barring injury.

Sums it up nicely.

Personally, I'd have given the armband to Gerrard. He's proved to be a good captain for his club and I can't recall him putting a foot wrong on the odd occasion he's captained England. I think he's earned his chance to show what he can bring to the national side so far as the captaincy is concerned

Mind, we maybe shouldn't be surprised that our Italian manager would favour a defender... ;)

Compared to the EPL which has, er... only 4 teams? :p

Well, I live in Aberdeen currently but I am from Glasgow and have always supported Rangers. I absolutely loathe the religious and political ties associated with the Old Firm though. I try my best to distance myself from it.

I had hoped when I was younger that in my lifetime, the history between the Old Firm fans would fizzle out, but I quickly realised that was naïve and unlikely to ever happen.

Pleased with the recent signings we've made though - takes the attention away from the embarrassing defeat to Kaunas in Europe.

xUKHCx - Thanks for the app link!

You need to have a word with young Fuzzy. ;)

Thanks, but seeing as I think I'm older than you I don't know if you are being sarcastic or if I come across as being immature!

There seems to be a lot of people in Aberdeen support Rangers, not sure why. Maybe it's because a lot moved up there to work in the oil. My family straddle both sides of the spectrum, they are just my local team!

I don't agree, I think Kenny Miller has been shocking and Walter is staking his job on it. We'll see come Christmas.

It could be to do with the oil, but in any case, it is very strange. Generally speaking, Aberdeen and Rangers fans hate each other even more than Old Firm fans. I'm only here because I came to study at Aberdeen University a few years ago and now have secured a really good job here.

Yeah, I know many Rangers fans who dislike Kenny Miller, but whilst I don't think he is a super striker, I think Andrius Velicka was the real low point for Walter. I don't mind that Kenny has played at Celtic, I just don't think he is that good.

The signings I have been very pleased with are Bougherra, Mendes, Davis (almost complete), Aaron Niguez, and Mo Edu (pending work permit). These have went some way to boosting our very poor midfield.

I hope Cousin gets a new shot this season with our stronger midfield, and that Darcheville can find his form again.
