Err what

Mark Hughes has told Sky Sports News that Spurs have accepted Manchester City's shock bid for Dimitar Berbatov.

...

City's offer for Berbatov is reported to be in excess of £30million and would set a new British transfer record.

...

Where did this come from, oh wait.

I really thought he would have to stay at Tottenham. Spurs now have to rely on Pavlyuchenko (unproven in the premiership) and Bent (proven rubbish in the premiership).

I personally don't believe he is worth £30+million but if this goes through so be it.

:p Production value isn't everything. Hehe.

I really don't think he's worth £30million, but, City have money to burn it would seem.

Fergie must have a trump card. With Rooney and Tevez the only 2 proven strikers at United they will struggle to win the league again. Does anyone really think, though clearly an immense talent, Frazier Campbell can chip in with 20 goals this season? Didn't think so.

Karim Benzema rumors are hotting up over on the BBC website. I'd enjoy that one, be a bit surprised though.

Bent (proven rubbish in the premiership).

:D

£34 million is the number I've heard for Berbatov...but doesn't he want to go to United? I wouldn't risk 34 million on that sulk.

Liverpool have let Finnan go, and picked up a couple 18 year-olds. If Torres has a significant injury Liverpool are so screwed...Benitez won't even give Keane 90 minutes, soon he'll starting from the bench and by January he won't even make the squad - he's the new Peter Crouch. <panics>

Now Real Madrid have made this mad rush even madder (according to the rumors) by tabling a 36.5 million-pound offer for Berba...though just before this came out it was being reported that Spurs had accepted Man City's bid. Someone on the BBC live text pointed out that Berbatov is best buddies with Petrov and Bojinov at Man City, so that move is beginning to make a slight bit of sense.

I ask you, is he really THAT good?

In the best news of the day so far, Voronin is on his way back to the Bundesliga. That's one less marginally effective player Rafa can rotate in.

EDIT: Sky has rubbished the Real Madrid offer rumor, though Man City's new owners are apparently ready to spend Real Madrid levels of cash in the next few hours. Names like David Villa are being tossed about by the press...

BBC Sport Website said:
1710: Ridiculous. Manchester City's prospective new owner Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim has revealed he has made bids for Valencia's David Villa and Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez. Can someone remind City they are not Real Madrid? Meanwhile, Madrid have not given up on Villa and appear to have entered the race for Berbatov. Best deadline day ever?

Best. Deadline Day. Ever.

Pure madness. If City pull any of this off it changes things quite a bit...good news for city fans whether they get Berba or not - free spending billionaire ownership to replace the human-rights-abusing free-spending billionaire ownership they were saddled with.

yes and no. lately no.

In light of today's Man City madness (Berbatov, Villa, Gomes, Robinho) I'd like to confirm that I will not be signing for them... however, a lot can happen in the four and a half hours remaining! :p

I've just spoken to a friend of mine whose brother lives in Manchester – apparently, said brother's girlfriend was asked for directions to the City of Manchester Stadium by BoyBach a little earlier this evening.

You heard it here first, folks.

Meanwhile, my favourite rubbish transfer rumour of the day was the alleged sighting of Hamilton Ricard loitering around the KC. The fact that the former Middlesbrough forward is currently serving a three year prison sentence in a Columbian jail may point to it being a case of mistaken identity, though. :p

:D I love the transfer deadline day madness!

Did anyone see how Mike Ashley might be facing a slap on the wrist after the cameras caught him drinking a pint in the Emirates? I love this part:

Newcastle issued a statement which said: "Mike was offered a drink which he thought was non-alcoholic so he took it in good faith."

Arsenal confirmed they do not sell non-alcoholic beer in the stadium.
:D

Apparently we've just signed Daniel Cousin from Rangers on a three year deal. I don't know if Fuzzy14 or davidjearly are going to be around this evening, but if either of our resident marauding Scots stick their heads in here could they reassure me we've not just bought a lemon?

His lass looks pleasant enough, mind. We've got a H&M here and a big Next, so Hull's perfect WAG territory.

Oh bollox:( Can you not take Kenny Miller instead?

I like Cousin, I think he's our 2nd best striker (out of 6!) He's pretty passionate, scored a cracker against Celtic at the weekend and then got sent off, doesn't take much to get sent off at an Old Firm but it's normally the ones with the bit between their teeth who appreciate what a local derby stands for! Thought he made a good partnership with Novo, however he wasn't a favorite with Walter. I'm wondering if the only reason he was played at the weekend was to bump up his price!

Take care of him. If Hull are now Premiership maybe they should open an Italian Center for the WAGs?

He's a great striker but has a bit of a negative attitude for the less important matches. Don't understand why he left for Hull (no offence) when he was looking for top flight football apparently. It obviously could not have been European football.

He is immensely capable and the best striker in Scotland on his good days. On his bad days, he can't be bothered at all.

You've signed our best striker IMO, and now we are counting on Jean Claude Darcheville for skill and Kenny Miller for quantity.

The last goal he will ever score for us was indeed against Celtic yesterday and can be seen here at the very beginning.

So, who would you say is number one? Please not Boyd... I'm sick of the Boyd lovers.

Hmm... we've had a few of those in the past too.

Doesn't his lass have family in Belgium? They're obviously moving here to take advantage of the ferry link to Zeebrugge, besides the obvious attraction of playing for the Tigers. Yes, that's probably it. :)
