I'm heading to the Vikings game in a couple hours, let's go Vikings! If the Vikings win, they're in at the 3 seed, and then would have to face the Cowboys most likely. The other scenario would be that they would face the Bucs, which I would much rather do because they're not the greatest road team. Then we would play the Panthers whom we've already beat. We're going all the way! ;)

I didn't think of the Vikings as one of the top four teams I saw as contenders, but if the Vikings win, they sound like they would be in a great position. The Panthers could be on the outs and maybe they lost a couple in that bar fight with the Giants. As for the Bucs, if their road record is bad, then you are in great shape going in. The Cowboys, when hot, are the best offensive team in the NFL, but when not, they are in the bottom 16 so if the Cowboys are off, then that bodes well for the Vikings. The tough scenario, and the likely ones that may give you trouble is a strong defense like the Titans in the Super Bowl (akin to the '70s Steeler's Steel Curtain who picked up four rings), or a strong offense like the Colts with second best NFL record holder Peyton Manning. But the pressure would all be on the Titans, NFL's top team, or the Colts, recent ring winners.

I would see it as an upset, but I would imagine most of America siding with the Vikings.

Not for nothing, but the Titans ( or any team for that matter) don't even belong in the same zip code, let alone same sentence,as the Steel Curtain. The defense that team had will more than likely never be seen again in the NFL. Let's see the Titans win something first...The AFC is wide open this year.

This might be the best day of football this year. Giants/Vikings, Cowboys/Eagles, Pats/Bills, Dolphins/Jets. Playoff spots up for grabs.

Agreed.Lots of good games. One thing's for certain. It's never a good thing to have to have to depend on help from others or scoreboard watch to get into the playoffs.

I'm happy that I am getting all these games in a double double.

The Steel curtain, Phillies defense in one year that knocked out 7 starters, the defense of Haley and Co. of the Cowboys, and LT's great defense, stand out as the big number producers in history.

The Titans can be a fly by night great one year defensive phenom, but I see a team that will consistently have good defense numbers for years to come, whether they get a ring or not. The Raiders before their first Super Bowl win, had a legendary defense that had the respect of the entire league for years. You are right, it will take time and some consistency for at least 6 years, to match the 70s Steelers, when the Steel Curtain ruled football, for the Titans to be in the same sentence.

If somehow NE wins another couple of Super Bowls via their defense, and obviously not by offensive blowouts, they will be an East Coast curtain, too by any yardstick.

What is incredibly impressive is how lackluster the Titan's offense is at times and how many times the defense has carried them. And the bigger question down the line is if the Titans will bring Hall of Famers from their defense. In ten years, the Titans may be a memory or post similar numbers to the teams I mentioned above. This is what makes football fun. :)

Yes that is amusing, both goal posts are leaning in opposite directions.:p

Argh.... am home at my mother's who has no satellite sports so I can't see the Pats game and I won't get the Jets/Miami game.

But I can see everything else thanks to my streaming Gamepass. Have to say that streaming at Mum's house via Virgin is appalling quality wise compared to my Be* at home. Not so much the basic speed but it seems to occasionally drop down to a v low speed before getting back to a decent standard.

Heh - looking at the weather at the Buffalo airport - the winds are gusting to more than 60mph. Awesome! It was cool watching the wind carry the poor Buffalo kicker's kick wide right.

hope he's ok. you never want to see someone taken off on a stretcher

James Brown just reported that the Steelers are reporting that he suffered a concussion.

He's probably done for the season though. If you have a concussion thats serious enough to make you get taken off on a stretcher, you're not coming back any time soon.

Yep,that's not good for them going forward, even with the bye week. I'm sure Tomlin will get ripped in the media for having him out there in a meaningless game..

Oh man - I didn't realize the Steelers didn't have anything to play for. Wow - poor call by Tomlin.

Well, in Tomlin's defense, the Steelers played like **** last week and definitely needed a tune up before the playoffs. Injuries are just part of the game. Sometimes you get unlucky.

At least they have a decent backup in Byron Leftwich.
