Bottom Feeder or 2nd Round Playoff Loser?
Hmmmmmmm... sign me up for Marty or Tony

Who is the bigger fool, the person who is never rich or the person who wins the lottery and loses all their money?

Marty and Tony have both had championship-caliber teams they squandered. If the same teams were coached by Belicheat or Reid or Parcells they would have gone to the Super Bowl and probably won it.

Not necessarily a fair comparison

Belichik and Parcells could beat their team with your players
They are a rare breed

That's my point. Dungy couldn't take the team he built to the Super Bowl but someone else could.

well then by that logic Gruden couldn't make his own team winners either. Dungy is not a horrible coach, but I wouldn't put him among the very best either

I'm worried about the injury report coming out of the Ravens win. We got banged up pretty good and, as far as I can tell, the only thing that happened to the Steelers was that their defense took a nap during the game courtesy of the Chargers stellar offensive output.

I can't imagine the Ravens losing to anyone three times in one year, but heart and guts will only carry you to halftime. Still, I say Ravens win 12-9.

Yeah, I actually like the Ravens team more than I like the Steelers but I can't see the Steelers losing after so many Ravens went down. Plus, I have to think that if push comes to shove, veterans like Rothlesburger and Ward will find a way to beat a rookie QB and coach. :(

Well, I've heard "Hall of Fame" and "Dungy" mentioned together in the same sentence before. Personally, I don't see it.

Personally, I'm a huge Dungy fan and I'm biased for that reason to be sure. The team he built in Tampa Bay was the team that won the Super Bowl, and he did a good job in Indianapolis.

You could argue that his successes wouldn't do it for most, but to be blunt: the first black coach to win a Super Bowl will be in the Hall of Fame.

You are making an argument for him being a good general manager and not a good coach.

Hell, the year that the Bucs won the Super Bowl Jon Gruden had TWO teams there. The one he built in Oakland and the one he coached in Tampa. Yet I don't think Gruden is a a hall of famer.

And to say that Dungy will make it into the HOF solely because he is black is shameful.

Maybe I could have chosen my words a little better, but you're making some semantic assumptions there far from what I was saying. It's not worth arguing about, but I do understand the difference between a GM and a coach. From my perspective, he was an amazing coach and both Tampa Bay and Indianapolis became and will continue to be better franchises.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Friday said that they have fired head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Bruce Allen.

"We will be forever grateful to Jon for bringing us the Super Bowl title, and we thank Bruce for his contributions to our franchise," Buccaneers co-chairman Joel Glazer said in a statement. "However after careful consideration, we feel that this decision is in the best interest of our organization moving forward."

Gruden had been the head coach of the Buccaneers for seven season, coming from the Oakland Raiders. Tampa Bay defeated Oakland in the Super Bowl his first season. His overall record with Tampa Bay is 57-55, but the Bucs have been 22-26 over the past three seasons. They started this season 9-3 but lost four straight and missed the playoffs.

So is this Super Bowl going to be a battle of East vs West PA? Since Gruden has been fired I think the Cowboys should look to sign him up. He looks like a man who can chew up Owens when he gets mouthy.

Chargers bracing fans for L.T.'s departure?
SAN DIEGO (AP) — The San Diego Chargers appear to be bracing their fans for the possibility that LaDainian Tomlinson's brilliant eight-year run with the team could be over.

According to the team's Web site, club president Dean Spanos called the star running back Thursday to discuss reports that the Chargers might part with Tomlinson, who has been slowed by injuries the last two postseasons and will count $8.8 million against the salary cap next year.

Nobody's safe in Dallas, regardless of what Jones says:
Cowboys fire defensive coordinator Brian Stewart
IRVING, Texas (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Brian Stewart on Friday after two seasons, the first big coaching move after the team limped to the finish line and missed the playoffs again.

More moves may come soon. Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett remained among the finalists for the St. Louis Rams' head coaching job.

Cowboys are opening a new stadium this fall. We'll see who's running the asylum by then..The inmates,or the coach...

i sure hope not. go cards!

everyone who says the eagles will win easily: you have to admit that arizona actually has a chance to win this game, which is saying a lot considering the history...

Steve Spagnuolo, who spent two seasons as the New York Giants' defensive coordinator, has been hired by the St. Louis Rams to be their next coach.

Rams spokesman Rick Smith said he was not aware of any announcement and no news conference was planned. Calls by The Associated Press to Spagnuolo's agent, Bob LaMonte, were not returned.

Spagnuolo, 49, agreed to a four-year deal worth about $12 million, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which was the first to report the hiring.
Spagnuolo replaces Jim Haslett and takes over a team that finished 2-14. Haslett went 2-10 as interim coach after his promotion from defensive coordinator when Scott Linehan was fired following an 0-4 start.

Spagnuolo was the architect of the Giants' sack-happy defense that thwarted New England's run to a perfect season in last year's Super Bowl upset.
By late afternoon, several media outlets were at Rams Park but there was no sign of Spagnuolo or Rams general manager Billy Devaney.

Spagnuolo was one of five finalists for the job, along with Haslett; Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett; and defensive coordinators Rex Ryan of Baltimore and Leslie Frazier of Minnesota. Garrett flew into St. Louis on Friday night, prompting speculation he would be the new coach. But he was only there for another interview.

The 49-year-old Spagnuolo took over as defensive coordinator in New York in 2007. A year before, New York ranked 25th in total defense. Under Spagnuolo in 2007, the Giants ranked seventh, led the league with 53 sacks and made the playoffs.

The New York Giants are targeting Dom Capers as their next defensive coordinator, replacing Steve Spagnuolo, who was hired as Rams coach on Saturday, sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen Saturday.

Capers was New England's special assistant/secondary coach this season.
Capers was given permission and has interviewed for the Packers' defensive coordinator job but is more likely to go with Coughlin. Capers worked with Coughlin in Jacksonville in 1999 and 2000.
