Anyway watch the MotoGP at Laguna Seca yesterday?  :D

Yup - was waiting for the rerun of the GP. Absolutely stunning bike work by Stoner and Rossi; I don't watch much Moto GP but that was amazing until Stoner went off.

Pachyderm I apologise for the lack of pic of the new spec cars - its a graphical representation. I don't have a scanner but if I can I'll scan it and put one up. It looks more like a 2005 era Renault - curved sidepods, but with a 180º horizontal (actually flat as opposed to curved) rear wing, a wider front wing (the same width as the front wheelspan) with no added horns or anything, and no flicks off the main body. Its very clean looking; much prettier then the current cars because of the lack of the extra pieces.

not a problem. sounds much better anyway. ;)

Well the slicks are right, but apart from that its not within the specs for 2009. The front wing should as wide as the front tires for a start, and I don't think its allowed to be as complicated.

I've yet to see an image of how the new rules will apply to the cars, though from my understanding of the new regulations, they'll be reminiscent of the late '80's early '90's cars in relation to the lack of aerodynamics features, though obviously they'll be significantly more refined aerodynamically than the cars of 18-19 years ago.

I'm really looking forward to next season though... could be a vintage season, not seen for the best part of almost two decades. :)

Thats kinda what it looks like. Here's the description:

F1 Racing said:
Lower wider (adjustable) front wings; narrower higher rear wings; changes to the diffuser; and clean bodywork...no more aero "add-ons" ... KERS (a device that recovers and stores energy that can be used in one of two ways; continuous discharge of the stored energy around the lap, or as a "power boost".

EDIT: Yay my 500th post. In an appropriate place too. Cheers guys and gals.:D

Apparently for next season they have got around the 'no barge-board' rule by moving the side pods back and putting the boards where the side pods are currently. Apparently.

I didn't realize

was going to be your first choice. :p

That's going to be a bit hard. Notice how the side pods come up to the driver? They house the rather vital structures that let the thing pass the side impact tests

I would be very surprised if R. Youden didn't know that already.:p

Expect to see the barge boards supported off the SIS
