Ole Miss got hot towards the end of last season....and it just seemed like everything was working for them.

This year, they have looked terrible for the most part.

Bad in the 1st half against Memphis....beat up SE Louisiana....and terrible again today

Snead is good...not great.
Nutt it Nutt...will win when you don't expect and lose in the oddest ways when favored

Sounds a lot like Texas Tech. They'll ruin your season one week, just to kick you even further in the nuts by losing the following week to a nobody. :p

Great game by South Carolina. I want to give a big thanks to them for possibly shutting up some of the obnoxious Ole Miss fans around here. I know we discussed it around here before, but I would say OVER...RATED applies here. :)

Edit: I just want to add this is yet another reason why I can't stand pre-season polls. OM was rated that high due to what they did last season, not anything they had done this season. This is why I would like to see the first poll come out until week 3-4 or so.

Can someone explain to me how Ole Miss got to be #4? I'm not saying they're not good, but they had four losses last season, and haven't yet played a defining game this season. They also don't seem to be one of those programs that always get the benefit of the doubt either. For some reason I can see them at #13 or #14, but #4?

I'd agree. And they looked horrible tonight. Yikes. Not entirely sure it was because of a great game by SC. They sucked too.

So much for the "Snead is the best passer in the SEC" nonsense. After the game he said he was glad the pressure of being #4 in the nation was off them. What a loser. No wonder he couldn't hack it in Austin.

This week, my Utes play the Louisville Cardinals at our home stadium (which has been sold out for a few days now). As far as I'm concerned, Utah has to win this game if we are to keep the anti-bcs system in motion. The Big East has been considered the worst of the current AQ conferences and if the Utes lose to them, it gives BCS proponents way too much firepower.

Go Utes!

Also, I heard that the TCU v Clemson game isn't going to be televised but has been put on ESPN360 instead? What's up with that? That sounds like a great game to me.

I think we can safely say Utah and BYU are both out of the BCS for this year. It's not fair, but that's just how it goes. TCU still has a shot, but they've got to beat Clemson and run the MWC table. I'm not sure they have the offense to do either.

I didn't mention anything about Utah getting in the BCS this year. It just won't happen. What I'm talking about is the MWC not having a poor showing against the Big East.

I think we can say that with 100% certainty

Though it is unlikely, it is not impossible for BYU to still get a BCS birth. They currently sit at 20 in the coaches poll and if they win the rest of their games (including ranked 14 TCU), it might be enough to get them in a BCS game. It's unlikely, but we definitely can't say that it won't happen with 100% certainty.

It also isn't impossible for Vandy to win out

But they won't

Opinions on Purdue vs. Notre Dame game? For us Boilermakers, this isn't a rivalry game (even though ND seems to think that all of their opponents consider them a rival. Believe me, you guys aren't THAT special. Get over yourselves.)...the prospect winning over ND is extra special because ND is known for being so arrogant and it's a chance for us to put them in their place. Granted, their school spirit is awesome - don't get me wrong on that. The sheer fact that ND fans manage to see a silver lining in everything is great, but I can't think of a fanbase that is more bitter about losing than Notre Dame's; I've read multiple ND forums and blogs that spit out accusations that the other team cheated. There's a point where you just have to accept losing a game.

Anyway. I hope it's a great match. I don't expect or even want it to be a blowout for either team. Whenever two Indiana teams face off it's always a fun and exciting game.

May the best team win. But for me, go Boilers.

OU's D has been over-rated (or in some years, just not rated because it was so bad) for some time now.

This has generally been the case ever since OU lost Mike Stoops as D-Coordinator after the 2003 season.

However, this year's defense is described by Bob Stoops and Brent Venables as one of their best in his 11 years as head coach.

Now, I think Miami will be a heck of a matchup and everyone is on the U's bandwagon, but let's see what happens when Jacory Harris plays someone who will actually rush him. Florida State and Georgia Tech are ranked 101 and 87, respectively, in total defense. As of now, OU is #9 in total defense, #1 in run defense, scoring defense, and tackles for loss, #23 in pass efficiency defense, and #5 in sacks.

Say what you will, but OU has only allowed 14 points in 3 games this season (all to BYU) with two shutouts. Now I realize Idaho State is terrible and OU should shut them out, but BYU and Tulsa are known for their offenses, ranking #10 and #7 in total offense in 2008.

Thoughts from watching some games this morning

- LSU's QB is incredibly average. Could he look down his WR's any more? Against better competition, LSU is losing several games.
- FSU is without doubt the most up-and-down team in D1 Football. Looked good against Miami/BYU....like a D2 team today and against Jax State
- Michigan was bound to come down to earth. They are a solid team...nowhere near that good.

Yeah, LSU's QB is average. Too bad our (MState) QBs aren't even that good. Mullen needs to recruit another Tebow for us. Or Tebow's backup. Or whoever the third stringer is at UF. Any of them would be better than our starters.

Yeah, FSU is down 14-0 to a USF team with a QB making his first start ever. Will the real FSU please stand up?

It looks like TCU is going to seal this game up 14-10 in a rainy Clemson stadium. I'm off to the Utah-Louisville game in just a minute. Been a good day of football.

meyer broke tim tebow tonight. for those of you that don't know, tebow was sick and played in the game, and the gators were winning 31-0 over kentucky after one quarter. common sense says to hold tebow back in the second half, right? wrong. tebow gets hit in the head and now is concussed. trying to run up the score and you broke tebow. i don't like the gators AT ALL, but i like tebow alot.

this may bode well for lsu, as we play the gators in two weeks, and without tebow, we can kiss their championship season goodbye.

This Texas Tech-Houston game is getting really exciting. Anyone else watching this?

The win for the Utes tonight was bittersweet. I think we played really well, but we suffered some TERRIBLE injuries. The biggest loss is our star RB Matt Asiata who tore his ACL and will be out for the rest of the season, basically ending his career. I don't care what team you hate/like/root for, it is really sad to see an injury take away a players final year. :(

And Houston scores and takes the lead! Crazy.

Houston has quite the team this season. And how about TCU? Great win for them.

No kidding. It's a real shame that that game wasn't televised (I had to watch it on ESPN360) because it was a great one.

A great win for Houston. The polls should be pretty crazy tomorrow.

As for Tebow, as much as I hate the Gators and all of the Tebow talk by ESPN, it is really sad to see a player get injured like that. I hope he has a speedy recovery.
