Yeah, you never know what those crazy voters will do. It's a shame we're even discussing this crap. I'd much rather be bitching about our seeding in an eight team playoff. ;)

Are you going to be at the game on Saturday, Ignatius? I was thinking of burning some flier miles on it, but it's not going to work out for me. Oh well, I have a great restaurant to watch it at.

Nah. I'm glad they're doing well, but I don't really care about the Frogs. I may stop by a friend's tailgate earlier in the day to have a beer or two, but I'll be in front of the TV watching my alma mater lose (probably) while the Frogs and Utes clash.

Hey SLC, you wanna talk about dropping in the polls??

How about Boise State beating their opponent 54-9 and dropping three spots from #4 to #7 in the BCS. Heh heh. Now that sucked.

I'm not going to argue about where Boise belongs in the rankings though. If we win out and retain at least a top 6 spot then I think we deserve a BCS bowl. We travel well, and our TV ratings are increasing every year. ESPN is airing 7 of our games this year, and they wouldn't do that if no one watched. Plus we easily sold our allotment of 17,500 tickets to the Fiesta Bowl in '07, and then sold a few thousand more on top of that.

If we get passed up on a BCS bid by USC or Iowa I'll be pissed then, but until that time I'm just enjoyin' the ride.

Of course I still want Utah to pull out the upset this week. ;)

Here's my Bowl Predictions

BCS Title Game-
Alabama vs. Texas

Sugar Bowl-
Florida vs. TCU (I would LOVE this matchup!)

Fiesta Bowl-
Boise State vs. USC (look out, Badandy!)

Orange Bowl-
Cincinnati vs. Georgia Tech

Rose Bowl-
Oregon vs. Ohio State

I LOVE this time of year!! I just wish it wouldn't go by so fast! I can't believe we're already in to week 11. :(

If Boise State wins out and especially if we go to a BCS bowl and win, look for us to be the first non-AQ team to be ranked preseason top ten. :D We're losing just two starting seniors! And wins over Oregon State and Virginia Tech (in D.C.) might give us enough firepower to remain in the top half of the top five.

...Of course let's not get ahead of ourselves here. ;)

Go Broncos!
Go Utes!

:D

If LSU and USC both finish with two losses (though Stanford will test USC this week), Oregon wins the Pac 10 and TCU stays undefeated, Boise might get left out.

USC won't go to a BCS, it is a joke if they do

And as long as Penn State gets back to the top14, we would most likely get invited to a BCS over Iowa.

Penn State doesn't deserve to go BCS this year. Big 10 sucks @#%.

It's a non AQ kind of year, hate to break it to you but it's true. If there's an at large bid up for grabs between BSU and PSU, BSU should get it this year.

That's assuming TCU bests Utah, which is likely but not a certainty.

not saying we deserve, our offensive line is laughable. But it is true, if the big10 gets 2 BCS spots, then PSU would likely go over Iowa. It is all about the money

I would be surprised if two non BCS schools go to a BCS game

"Should" and "will" are two entirely different things, unfortunately. If the final spot comes down to eligible teams in USC, PSU and BSU, the bowl will probably pick USC. If it comes down to PSU and BSU, the bowl will pick PSU. They shouldn't, but they will because Penn State offers them more fans who buy tickets and spend money in Tempe/New Orleans/Miami.

Naah, I disagree. I think they're getting a lot of mileage out of the Cinderella Stories the non BCS schools provide them. That and I don't think anyone outside of Pennsylvania and former PSU students has cared much about PSU in a long time.

Maybe I'm wrong, I am out west and maybe we just don't get much coverage of the east side teams here.

Feel-good stories only get you so far, but the current system is all about money (which is why we still have the bowls). I don't think Penn State will make it to the BCS this year, but I do think they would get picked over Boise just because their fans travel so well. I hope not, though, because the Big 10 does suck.

Don't worry, we are going to lose to Stanford this weekend. Gerhardt is going to kill us. Next year and two years from now is when we're going to be dangerous.

This coming from the guy who proclaimed Penn State would kill USC in the Rose Bowl last year. Your school is the joke.

Nah, Alabama is going down next week. :D

Yeah, I know wishful thinking. With the way things have been going this season, we'll probably lose in the 4th being inches the goal line. Of course, the SEC championship game makes me wonder who the officials are going to help out more. I guess it depends on who pays them more or whoever Slive wants to win.

My brother is a much more dedicated Bulldog than I am. He's long believed in the "protect #1" theory in the SEC office.

I hope a lot of you are going to tune into the Utah v TCU game on Saturday because it should be a good one. There is a good chance that TCU wins this what buy I bet it is going to be a lot closer than people think. Utah's game matches up pretty well against TCU (Utah is currently 5-1 against the frogs), but TCU has the better players no doubt. Also, Utah has a history of pulling out wins as the underdog. ;)

And for the gamblers out there, Las Vegas is giving a 20 point spread to TCU. I guarantee it won't be that large of a margin of victory!

Also, this may be of some interest.

MWC to add Boise St, possibly Nevada and Fresno St and get auto BCS bid

Okay, maybe it's a longshot, but I cam dream, can't I?

Expanding to 12 teams makes quite a bit of sense, and not just from a BCS perspective. Even the MAC has a conference championship game for the extra cash, and that's the sole reason the ACC, SEC, and Big 12 went to 12 teams each, as well. That conference championship game is very high profile, and more than once winning that game has provided a significant boost to the winning team in the rankings. Just ask any PAC-10 or Big 10 team that got jumped late in the season.

I have to admit, a MWC with TCU, Boise, Utah, BYU, and Fresno looks very, very good on paper.

I thought it was BS until we played undefeated #1 Tennessee in the SECCG in 1998. It was pretty obvious in that game. To add to matters, Alabama is involved. A few years ago, I read a post on a message board where a guy broke down the number of penalties called on Alabama vs. their opponents over several years. His numbers showed that Alabama usually had fewer penalties, regardless of opponent and regardless of the coach. I wish I could find that post again.

FWIW, C-USA also has a championship game. :) But, you are dead on about the championship games. More practice time, a chance to advance in the polls, and of course, more money for the conference.

Anyway, I agree that would be a pretty good conference, and would have a strong case to present for an automatic qualifier spot for a BCS bowl.
