I have devoted a whole thread to new kits @owlsalive.com...
I know, I have a look on there from time to time, just to make sure you're behaving yourself. ;)

...but decided not to here
There was a 'sports uniforms' thread a while back, the problem is though rather than folk posting what they considered to be a good shirt they simply posted the clobber of whichever team they support, generally with a "woot! raiders rool!+1" style comment. It's far more interesting to see people's opinions when club loyalties are removed, in my opinion.

Besides, we all know a football shirt-related thread would only confuse some people. Accrington Stanley crests would have to be on stand by. ;)

Anyway, I'm not keen on either of the strips swiftaw posted – the Birmingham one might have been a bit better with a different collar, but I think it's notable that none of the players pictured are smiling...

Overall, Umbro's shirts this season seem to be either highly splendid or rather dodgy. This is our third (and I very strongly suspect our final) year of being clad in their wares, and the stuff they've produced for us has generally been good, certainly a vast improvement on what we'd had in previous seasons. I reckon we'll be changing suppliers after the end of the upcoming season, it wouldn't surprise me to see stripes on next season's Hull City shirt – at least three on each arm, anyway. ;)

Do ya' now...? Under what alias might i ask...?
Oh, I'm not registered – it's just one of a couple of football forums I have a look at sometimes.

I know fizzoid goes there as well. But he's all Wednesday in'int he?
Aye, he is that – although he's a slight bit Brid as well. But there's nothing wrong with that. ;)

In other news, today we've not signed another striker – talks with Daryl Murphy have broken down after an agreement on personal terms couldn't be reached with the Sunderland forward. At this rate, we're going to have to sign Deano back.

Going out on a limb here but I think Portsmouth could go down this season. They've got an awfully small squad, they seem to be in a little disarray, and they're kit manufacturer just went bust.

Let's hope so – that's only two others for me and you to worry about. ;)

True. A bit worried about this season to be honest. No idea whether Martinez can handle the premier league or whether our new players will be any good. Hopefully they can convince Scharner to stay.

It's only mid-July –*you should know by now Wenger likes the midnight deadline on last day of the transfer window

How'd'ya mean!? They've signed that Belgian defender chap from Ajax, and I've heard a shocking rumour that he can actually head the ball! That'll never do.

Man U has signed the top scorer from the Norwegian Premier League, the 21 year old Senegalese forward Mame Biram Diouf. He will be loaned back to Molde for the rest of the Norwegian season (which ends in November) and join the Man U squad in January.

Didn't see that one coming...

I guess the Ibra / Eto'o deal is not finalized yet. The Spanish press sure loves to jump the gun.

And Man Utd has officially called off their match in Jakarta this weekend.

Saw the Diouf headline and thought, Owen...okay, but this - fetch the waterproofs.

Another Hull connection - Manucho leaves Manchester for Spain, Real Valladolid.

Ibrahimovic and Eto'o - wow, + GBP 35 million and Hleb for a season. One year age difference costs a lot.

Cheers,
OW

Celtic's away kit:

Looks like Rosicky and the new Ajax defender are both making the trip to Barnet. Hopefully he can play this season....and play well

Speaking of kits i quite like the new Third Kit

It looks like Arsenal are branching out into baseball. Perhaps they think by sharing the Emirates with the newly-founded London White Sleeves they can help sort some of their ground-based debt?

Keep an eye on their players this pre-season – if they start showering the pitch with half-chewed tobacco we might be onto something here.

Pinstripes on baseball uniform = fine.

Pinstripes on football kit = very, very bad.

Has Celtic ever done green and black hoops? That may look better than the bumblebee treatment seen below.

And the Adebayor saga continues. I guess his agents were trying to offer him to other clubs at the last moment in order to raise his price to City? It came out they shopped him to United who very quickly said no, and now when it looks like he's a done deal to Man City, his agents were shopping him to Chelsea last Friday?

Why can't he just sign for City already and get on with ruining whatever team chemistry they may have?

I can't say I like the stripes on either the Celtic or Arsenal shirts. The usual green and white works for Celtic, but the black/yellow does not look right with those horizontal stripes. The Arsenal gear does look a bit too much like a Yankees jersey as well, and I hate the Yankees. ;)

Chelsea play MLS side Seattle Sounders FC tomorrow in Ancelotti's first game in charge.
