That has been my opinion since the request first made news. Jaime got nothing more than a single straight line test prior to Hungary. Give Schumi a single straight line test and call it a day.

I agree that Schumi should not be given special treatment! Did they ask for Jaime to have a day of testing though? I don't recall that happening.

Seems fair to me. But there is Friday and Saturday practise right? Isn't that enough?

I want to see what Michael can do with only the Fri/Sat practice in the F60 at Valencia. I'm all for him running as many laps as he/they care to do with the 2007 car + slicks. Ferrari should not get any advantage out of this situation. If they want to run a driver with time in the F60 then run one of their reserve drivers!

I am looking forward to Valencia even more knowing that we'll have MS in the mix this year.

It would help Ferrari out quite a bit to have Schumi do a test in the car...

But seriously, if there is one man in the world who can step in to an unfamiliar car and be fast, even at the highest level, that man is Michael Schumacher. Lets see what he can do.

He will have done time in the simulator, and I imagine Ferrari will find a quasi-legal way to get him into a car with some similar characteristics to the F60 and get some track time. He will be ready.

For me Villenueve was one of the first names that came to mind after MS.
Be cool to see him drive for them. I know he(JV) is looking to get back into F1.
But MS is the obvious choice.

Ferrari pulled a Piquet.

I thought Williams handled the request correctly, and on top of that Red Bull stood behind the same decision give that their new driver was not allowed any testing either. Perhaps he was disallowed by Williams too, but that still doesn't make either position wrong.

I think it also gives more insight into how Ferrari look at the "rules" as guidlines rather than bindings.

Meant that I agree he should not get extra testing, and the practise they have before the race is enough time for him.

Bet the test driver wishes Schumacher had left completely, dont they normally get a race?

Generally I'd say "Yes, they do...generally.".

And Ferrari tester Marc Gene is a Spaniard who I bet would love a chance to race at his home GP. Oh well...

I'd like to see JV get in that car as well. Just for history sake... ;)

oops sorry, but it was from the prancing horses mouth on the website, sometimes these news website misquote, but not in this case.

Really hope Ferrari don't get there way.

It is unfair, especially considering Ferrari have test drivers who are perfectly capable of slotting in as replacements. Using Schu is a luxury. I'm interested to see Schumi back on the track but letting him test would be an unnecessary favor to Ferrari IMO.

In other news ...

Autosport.com said:
The FIA has re-opened the selection procedure for the final place on the 2010 Formula 1 World Championship entry list, in the wake of BMW's announcement that it is withdrawing from the sport at the end of the year.

AUTOSPORT understands that yesterday, FIA president Max Mosley wrote to the seven teams on the 'reserve list' - those under consideration for a place on the grid that did not receive an automatic entry in July - as well as BMW Sauber, to inform them that a place on the grid has become available.

Peter Sauber is still working with BMW to put a rescue package in place for the team he is a 20% partner in, but the Swiss was not able to secure the necessary funding in time to meet last Wednesday's deadline to sign the new Concorde Agreement.

Therefore, while sources suggest that Sauber is making progress to secure the budget to save his eponymous outfit, the FIA is inviting whatever BMW Sauber should become to tender its application alongside the other seven hopefuls selected from the original 15 applications, to pitch for the final place on the grid.

Epsilon Euskadi has already signalled its intention to re-apply, while David Richards' Prodrive outfit is believed still to be interested should the conditions be right to enter F1.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Epsilon Euskadi were threatening to sue the FIA over their selection process!
