Am I the only one who thinks the All-star weekend is becoming a bigger and bigger joke ?
This makes me want to go back and watch Al Macinnis launch rockets, watch Ray Bourque shoot pucks like a surgeon, or a younge Broudeur stop shot after shot.
How did you meet him?
Love the Joffa bucket...Nope, there are plenty of us who think that.
Those were the days.
You forgot about Gretzky, Lemieux, Roy, Yzerman, Hull................
He attended my high school for a semester while he recovered from knee surgery. I remember this: we had to do an assignment for English class and then present it to the class. He brought in a recording of him being interviewed on the radio and played it. That's it. That wasn't the assignment, but I think he still got an A.
He also hung out with some of the people I hung out with when I went to university. He would drive up on the weekends and spend some of the $7.5 million that the Islanders paid him.
Happy 50th Birthday, Wayner!

The best ever.
You're a Jewish hockey fan? Not many Jewish players to cheer for......
Kidding..... I am too.
Anyway....... when I saw the story earlier this morning, I can't say that I was surprised or shocked. I just kind of sighed.
For those who don't know what we're talking about: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=351070
I don't know if you're over-reacting....however, I also don't know why you think that the entire Ducks organization is a disgrace. I definitely agree that the Ducks need to address this now. However, I would guess that the lawsuit against the Ducks will cause them to lawyer up and get defensive about it, and perhaps not be as proactive internally as they should be. That being said, it appears that the lawsuit was a necessary step by the player.
It appears that the organization did not handle it properly back when he was still on the team and he complained about it.
This type of (alleged) behavior is unacceptable by anyone, but it is especially despicable when it is perpetrated by your own coach, who is supposed to be your general and teacher.
If this issue is discussed here, let's not get it thrown into the PRSI forums.![]()
A few things I remember about Gretzky:
Something else I found out about him: He used to use the reflections on the glass to know who was behind him. So when he was skating with the puck, he would know who was behind him and where they were on the ice. Just amazing.
I don't think we'll ever see another like him in the Game.
A story I heard on the radio: Doug McLean's 9 year old son was a stick/water boy for an All Star team one year. Doug asked Wayne's agent for an autographed stick for the boy's collection, and Wayne obliged before the game. Well after the game, Wayne looked for the kid, called him to his locker, and gave him his game-worn sweater (which he autographed for him). Doug was saying: "Who would even think to do that after playing a game and, as the league's star, having dealing with the media after the game? Wayne Gretzky would."
The ducks are a disgrace because:

Bobby Orr would have done the same thing. How many other sports can you say the 2 greatest players of all time would do something like that EVERY DAY? That's why I love hockey.

DarrenDreger: Brian Burke suggests last 5 players of the ASG draft should be drawn out of a hat. Doesn't like negative focus on Kessel.
