Ooooo awesome thread, this is one ill keep an eye. Being in the UK NHL is never shown on tv so i have to get my fix from youtube... :(

team brawls becoming a trend here, haha... although the teams that could use them are the ones that don't get any fans out.
 
What does everybody here think about the Preds? How do you think their season is going? Do you think they will go past the first round of the playoffs?

They're probably a first round and out team this season, but it's hard to say what effect Fischer will have right away. Great trade, and a great pick up for the Preds. He's a solid character player who can score, and hopefully it helps to convince Weber to stick around.

Oh ok I like this board already. Nice hockey discussion to boot. I am a big Pens fan. I see everyone is talking about the game lol. That was crazy. We are going through some tough times but they are still entertaining and by some miracle still have a great record. I went to my first game in yonks on Tuesday. Pens vs Cbus it unfortunately was pretty boring and a loss :-/

I hear you with our Leafs ... another shut-out loss WTF.

on the Predator trade ... Fischer will probably play great for the Preds being at home with the little honey. :cool:

Just the 1 assist. But that screen from Shea Weber goal might as well be an assist. Mike Fisher.. I've been an admirer of his since the Ottawa - Anaheim Finals.

How do you think the Canucks will finish off the season with all their injuries to the back line? Edler, Ballard, Hamhuis, Sweatt currently gone, Salo just returned last night vs Flames, Rome and Alberts came back from injuries few games ago... while Chris Tanev is filling in admirably. Canucks haven't slowed down so far but after having used 11 defensemen already this season, you gotta wonder if they're getting stretched too thin.

I actually think the Isles got off easy-the longest suspension wasn't even levied by the league-it was an automatic. Gillies could have gotten double digits and martin could have gotten 6 or more easily. I think Mario has a point-the message was not delivered clear enough. Nevertheless, I have to agree with Garth Snow-the fact that the Pens got no suspension or fine is a little odd-


@robo-when you guys had that brawl with the Sens a while back, did the team get any kind of discipline ?

146 penalty minutes and a couple game misconducts. That's about it. Don't think the league did anything about it

Exactly. Mario is right. The 10 game suspension was an automatic, so that's not really punishing the player for anything he did. The 10 games should be the baseline, and the punishment should increase from there.

I'm all for fighting in the NHL. I like that it's a part of the game. However, once a player, or players, use their shift to intentionally target someone, and fight solely for the sake of injuring another player, it has turned from hockey into a street fight. That's when you know things have gone too far.

And Snow was also right. It's strange that the Penguins didn't get any sort of punishment.

What would you punish the Pens for exactly? Did you watch the game? The only other suspension they could have possibly got was for Bylsma for letting Godard off the bench. He said afterwords that he told everyone to stay but I am sure he gave Godard the nod. The Isles got a slap in the wrist for that garbage. I am all for contraction of the league starting with them. Once proud org now a pile of steaming poo.
 
Canucks lose defenseman Alberts to broken wrist tonight. This is getting ridiculous. They called up Yann Sauve who will be the 12th defenseman to suit up for the Canucks this season..

Seriously getting insane now. We'll be out of the playoffs early simply due to lack of defense.
