The Leafs are 6 points out, and give up a goal to Buffalo in the first 2 minutes?

They are toast. Charge up the golf carts.

BTW I am all for contraction. We need to get rid of these teams in the south. Florida and Texas and Arizona and Tennessee. Wtf do these places have hockey? And the Pens can get rid of Godard and the like. I do like the hits and the fights but when they throw the gloves on the first faceoff... Thats completely unnecessary and embarrasses even me. A player like Cooke I am keeping. Awesome penalty killer. Great hitter. Backchecker and contributes a goal here and there even. He is a little dirty but I am tired of people acting like he is the only one in the league that does that stuff.

Sidney Crosby returns to the ice for light workouts. Not too late to schedule earlier tee times fyi ;)

Pronger is out till the start of the playoffs...ugh..tough schedule for the Flyers too. Boynton better step it up.

I never thought I would see this happen ... however I think it is Fantastic news! The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan which owns 66% of the Team is looking for $1.3 Billion Dollars. I can't wait to see who buys them.

That's a 25% premium on the 'book' value.

Not a bad ROI, at 10x their original purchase price.

Does Robbers have THAT much money? Sorry, silly question, of course they do, yours and mine.

Hard to say what one would be paying as it is for MLSE which includes the NBA Raptors and the Air Canada Center among other things such as Toronto FC soccer club.

Interesting though when the most expensive NHL Franchise becomes available

And Bruce Boudreau hits the nail on the head calling out the whiny fans in Montreal...

MONTREAL -- Washington Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau has a message for fans who don't want to see players injured by hits to the head in hockey.

"If you don't like it, don't come to the games," he said. "I think players realize they could get hurt.

"They don't want to do it, but unless you've played and seen what goes on with the speed of the game, you're not going to be able to argue with it."

Hockey fans gathered outside Montreal's Bell Centre before Tuesday night's game against Washington to protest the NHL's decision not to suspend Boston's Zdeno Chara for his hit on Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty last week.

Pacioretty was knocked unconscious and taken to a hospital with a serious concussion and a fractured vertebra in his neck.

Boudreau questioned the motives of the protesters, saying they would likely not be so upset if it had been a Montreal player who hit a Bruins one.

"I don't want to get into a controversy, but what if that was Hal Gill that hit David Krejci?" he asked. "I don't think there would be a protest going on here today."

So when I read a blog today saying that new concussion protocol requires a player to go into a nice quiet room for 15 minutes, he was half kidding. Sadly he wasn't-

Starting tonight, players suspected of having a concussion will be removed from the game and sent to a quiet place free from distraction so they can be examined by the on-site team physician. The physician will use the Sports Concussion Assessment Tool test to evaluate the player. Symptoms include loss of consciousness, motor incoordination or balance problems, a blank or vacant look, slow to get up after a hit to the head, disorientation, clutching of the head after a hit or visible facial injury in combination with another symptom.

Am I the only one who finds this insulting ? How does this help? Why the hell wasn't this done before? Basically giving a guy a timeout in the corner and turning off the lights and putting him in a room alone only helps after the fact-we need to address the acts.

I must comment on Heatley-he got off easy. What he did was beyond stupid and moronic. Its inexcusable-what he did is exactly what the league is trying to stop-a deliberate and purposely delivered hit to the head. I don't care if it was Ott-and I really don't care what Ott thinks. If we wanted to take out Ott, we have several other guys that can do it.

Canucks log another win. Can't help but feel like I'm being set up for another 2nd round disappointment.

Marchand gets 2 games. His hit wasn't that bad nor did it seem intentional, but it was a shot to the back of the head from behind, so if the league wants to start establishing consistency, it seems about right.

Yeah, I just saw that. I rewatched the game and he clearly does hit him in the back of the head. It's a bit unfortunate but I think you are right.

Are you guys friggin' serious? Not intentional? What are you watching?

He went to bump him away from the puck, I don't think he was deliberately trying to hit the guy in the head.

He tried to nonchalantly raise his elbow and give him a shot with it. He was trying to make it seem like it wasn't deliberate.

It wasn't a shoulder check- he didn't lead with his shoulder. He wasn't trying to just bump him. He raised his arm and elbowed the guy in the head while trying to make it look innocent by not looking directly at Umberger during the play.

What a jackass.

You need to take your homer-glasses off.
