Goaltending? A problem? For the Flyers? Never! It's like your team's management has had a brain-fart since Hextall left........:p

Leafs beat the Wild last night 3-0. We're keeping pace and still fighting for a playoff spot. It's a slim hope, but if they keep winning, it's a possibility.

It was 23 year old James Reimer's 3rd shutout of the season and 16th win of his short rookie season (16-7-4). This kid has been amazing, and hopefully he'll continue to shine. He's everything you want in a goalie: he works hard, he has good technique and positioning, and he takes responsibility for any goal he lets in (so, the opposite of Tantrum Rask:D). The team wants to win for him, they have confidence in his play, and they seem to play better when he's playing.

Colorado on Thursday and Detroit on Saturday......

@Surely: trade you Rask for Reimer, a 1st and 2nd rounder in 2013, and a 1st rounder in 2014?

I'm sure burke would do it! :p

TML are not making the playoffs this year. Technically it's a possibility but they would need to win 8 straight to finish the season and it's still the leafs so that won't happen. Although Reimer has been great in a small sample size, if he can keep it up I think this is the first time in a long time that the leafs have a decent shot at making the show next year.

What is the bolded part supposed to mean? I guess not much coming from an Oilers fan.:p;):D

Although it's a slim possibility that we'll make it this year, the possibility still exists.

BTW, looks like the Oil did a little better last year with Quinn as head coach and without Hall........

Leafs won again last night 4-3. Only 3 points back now.....Except we've played 2 more games than Buffalo and Carolina.

Wow, the Bruins destroyed the Habs last night worse than what Chara did to Pachioretti last week. Way to show up.

love it. that team is so soft.

gotta love campbell's 3 on 5 goal to top it all off :D

Breezy
I'll give that one last night :( Fluerry did show up  On the other hand the Flyers as a team didn't show up:eek:

I'm I worried... YES...

Yeah Bobo none of the antics we have come to expect either. We really needed to take that one in regulation but giving 1 is better than taking 1 or none. There is one more. The Flyers have killed the Pens in the Consol this year. Well there was no last year in the Consol lol. Anyway. The Devil tonight. I hate these pricks. We need to stick a fork in them.

Fluerry was a wall again tonight. We can play that game too Devils. 1-0 shoot out win. Lets go Pens.

If someone asked me a week ago who I would not want to play in the playoffs, I would say LA. Now a one week span, their cup dreams went up in flames and their hopes of even making the playoffs haven taken a nose dive-losing their top two scorers-

You really must feel for them

Yeah, it's pretty crazy how much can change in a week.

Really unbelievable. I was excited to watch them this post-season.

In other bad news, Marc Savard is having issues with his memory. That's some scary sh**.

Looks like my Leafs are all but done. Another year........

Matt Cooke is a scumbag and should be banned from the league.

Bruins beat the Flyers 2-1 tonight. It was a fun game to watch. Bruins clinched a playoff spot with the win.

I really wish someone would do a really serious study on concussions-and I am not just talking about our sport-I think all major sports leagues should launch an investigation into the long term effects. We can regulate our leagues till the end of time, but we must know how to care for the victims-we can't have more Marc Savards or god forbid Dave Duerson-

@Surely-whats your feeling on leafs trading up-do they have anything that could net them a 1st rounder?

EDIT-

Ken Dryden is talking

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but the last time he talked about improving player safety and violence-he got nearly all minor and major junior hockey leagues in Canada, along with Hockey Canada to address the issue.

Maybe its time to it again??

Tits. The Pens can tie for conference leader tonight. Then Sid comes back... History.

We already have two late-round first rounders, but it is possible that Burke will try to trade up to a higher pick. If anyone can do it, Burke can. I doubt that any of our current roster players would be enough to land a higher first rounder. The only position we seem to have an abundance of is goaltending. We have a couple of prospects on the Marlies that other teams might find interesting. We also have a good amount of cap space, and if there is a solid center available on July 1, Burke will go after him.

Ken Dryden is sooooooooooooooo boring. But I can agree with some of the stuff he's saying, and if he can help to make things a little safer, good on him. However, please keep in mind that his current gig is as a federal politician......he's an MP, which is like a senator in the US.

Burke's comments weren't given the proper context. Where it says: "We want that hit in our game.", it doesn't say what hit he's referring to. The article is making it seem like he wants to keep hits to the head in the game. Here's the full quote:

Toronto GM Brian Burke insisted that hitting is integral to the game and argued passionately for it to remain. To illustrate his point, he talked about one of his own players, Phil Kessel. In his first game with the Leafs after a trade from the Boston Bruins, Kessel was hit with a thunderous -- but legal -- check from Mattias Ohlund. On the play, Ohlund stepped up to deliver a north-south hit and his shoulder made contact with Kessel's head.

"We want that hit in the game," Burke said. "Phil has to be more alert and keep his head up. He didn't get a concussion on that play, but even if he did, I'd have the same view. We want that hit in our game.

"What's distinctive about our game from anywhere else in the world is the amount of body contact. So we have to try to take out the more dangerous hits and make it safer for the players, but keep hitting in the game."

That quote makes a lot more sense in context and I think that many people here agree with that based on the discussion.

Glad to see the B's clinch last night. Looking forward to that charge for the playoff tix on my credit card today. Surprised I haven't seen it yet!

Blackhawks tomorrow - should be interesting given the pileup to get in in the west. Anyone going?

Don't count on Crosby. He'll be half the player he was earlier this year until probably the beginning of next season. It took Bergeron 3 years to fully recover from his concussion and get his play back to where it was before.

You hope anyway. He is looking like he is in beast mode from the practice clips.
