I just have to say this: I just got involved with hockey personally in January. I've always loved watching it since college- went to all the games. A friend recommended that I play floor hockey, so I went for it. Wow- awesome. So awesome to me that I step out onto the ice for the first time tomorrow.
A local team asked me to join them after I mentioned floor hockey. I said that I could not skate. They told me that of course I could and they would teach me (now to be clear, I'm a goalie, so skating skills don't have to be that amazing). We're talking about guys who've played most of their lives and are willing to teach me this game on the ice. That's frickin' incredible. I still can't believe it. There are really great people in this sport.
I have a hard time criticizing anyone who goes out and plays this game. It's hard, really hard. But it's a crapload of fun.
