who is ready for Black Friday? I say Richards heads to broadway, Jagr goes to the Motor City, and Shea Weber goes swimming with the Sharks(hey if some team thinks they can get Stamkos I can dream we get Weber!)

It's nice to dream:D I don't see the Flyers giving up four #1 picks for Stamkos:( But Giroux and Stamkos on the same line would be dirty...;)

So today was an interesting day...

What was the biggest surprise to everyone? To me, it was Colorado trading its 1st rounder next year for Varlamov-seems like a bit of an over value.

I was also impressed at how aggressive the Flyers were. I was following my twitter stream most of the day and it seemed that everyone was making offers to Richards.

@robo-what are flyer fans saying about Jags?

I must be really tired because I completely missed us signing Michael Handzus-2 yr 5 mill. Gives us a solid two-way forward who can kill penalties, get nasty and has great speed.

as for Vandameer- meh.....

The Leafs did nothing today, except for pitch to Richards. Apparently, a group of Leaf fans found out where the agent's office is in Mississauga, and went there to try to convince him to join the Leafs. :D. Burke sent Nonis because he's in Kandahar visiting with the troops. Weird that he isn't around for July 1, but I'm cool with his reason.

A Richards decision announcement is expected tomorrow.

I guess I'm good with us not getting caught up in the frenzy. Some crazy deals today. I think we'll do something within the next week. I mean, we do have some holes to fill.

Florida spent so much cash on pretty much meh players. I guess that's what happens when you have to spend to a floor.....I wish I worked for a company like that ("Hey Surely, we have to spend a minimum amount on payroll, so could you do us a favor and take more money?":D).

The Flyers are nuts. They better hope that all these new players will be able to play well together.

Back to my beer.......:D

B's update:

Ryder went to the Stars. Honestly, this doesn't hurt my feelings too much. He did turn it on in the playoffs but was mostly dead weight during the year.

Pick up Pouliot from the Habs... hmm. 1 year/1.1M... He is more the B's style of player - big, hard hitting, will fight, etc.

If the bruins thought otherwise they would have offered Ryder the money. Honestly between him and wheeler it was a tough decision which one should spent more time on the bench.
Ryder surely can be replaced. It will be good to see him play in a more open conference. I predict a 35 goal season for him.

*This thread needs more NY Rangers*

We signed Mike Rupp today.

That is all.

Who?

The rangers seem to have the attraction of talent but can't seem to do anything with it.
I was very excited to watch them but they were just ok.

Buffalo maybe the team to beat

good for him. he got twice as much money from them as we would have gave him.

ew ew ew ew ew. this dude is a tool bag. he sucks. he might not even make the team.

Friggin' Rangers got Richards.

Friggin' Rangers.

Let me post the article for you. :D

Former Dallas Stars forward and coveted free agent Brad Richards has decided to sign with the New York Rangers, according to reports from the New York Daily News and TSN of Canada.

Richards
The Rangers, Calgary, Los Angeles and Toronto were the final teams in the running, sources told ESPN.com.

The deal is for nine years and $58.5 million, according to TSN.

Richards, 31, was on his way to a top-five finish in the NHL scoring race this past season before a concussion shelved him in February. He had 28 goals and 49 assists in 72 games with the Stars.

Richards will be playing under coach John Tortorella, with whom he won a Stanley Cup in 2004 as part of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Richards played the past three-plus seasons with Dallas after being traded to the Stars from the Lightning. He has 220 goals and 496 assists in 772 career games.

You may be confusing us with Red Sox fans.

Oh, give us a break. We haven't had much to get excited over in the last few years. And if all of us were "Fair Weather" we there would be no Rangers fans. Here's hoping we don't have to wait another 54 years for the cup. But we're just excited we actually may have something to look forward to. There hasn't been much action at the world's most famous arena in a long time. Too long.

well, nobody has more championships than the sox within the past 10 years.. and we have one of the best teams in baseball sooo.. lets go back to hockey.

95 days until opening night! this wait is going to kill me

Well, I was being a bit sarcastic, but thanks for the history lesson. :D

But really, wow. We can't be excited because we signed a coveted free agent? Nobody said anything about a Stanley Cup. Did we overpay him? Probably. Sign him for too many years? Yes. But we have something to look forward to next season. And hopefully we'll add a few more of the pieces we need to get us further than the first round next season.

Man, so much hate for NY. :(
