Yeah, I looked that up right after I posted. They need to make a decision already.

I find the whole concept of vacating wins a bit odd. It does screwy things like that. The NCAA did that to Alabama back in the 90s and again recently. And I still haven't seen how they consider vacating a win different from forfeiting a game. We got nailed by the NCAA back in the 70s for using an ineligible player and had to forfeit almost every game for two+ full seasons. They were considered forfeited, not vacated.

What was that... like 2 or 3 wins total?
:p

18, actually. :)

It made the coach at the time, Bob Tyler, look like he had a terrible record. On the field, he won 58% of his games. With those forfeits thrown in, his record drops to 31%.

I just looked up Alabama's probation, and it seems the NCAA forced them to forfeit 9 games from the 1993 probation. For the 2009 probation, they had to vacate 21 wins over three seasons. I guess it must have something to to with the NCAA record keeping or something.

Edit: Ok, I am stubborn and got really curious. I managed to find this article from an Alabama newspaper about Bama's latest probation in 2009. The reporter asked the NCAA Chairman of the Committee on Infractions. Here is the answer:

"There is a difference," Dee said.

"It's not semantics -- it's real -- between vacation and forfeiture," Dee continued. "In vacation, only the team involved, only in wins, do they vacate the wins. In forfeiture, you would not only vacate the win, but the opponent would improve their record. This was not a forfeiture, so therefore the rule only applies to the University of Alabama. It does not allow for any other university to improve its record."

I heard Robert Smith on ESPN's College Football Live call Oregon's defense a fraud, and that it's going to be exposed as such in The Coliseum.

Where's badandy? I wanna know what he thinks, because I don't think USC has a chance, although I have hope that they beat the Ducks. :)

That's why they play the game
South Carolina beats Bama and loses to Kentucky
You just never know
No team is invincible from week to week

I dunno. Given that they basically play in a pee-wee football conference, I'd say Boise State is pretty close, at least in conference play. :)

Stanford proved that Oregon's defense is a bit suspect. The problem is their defense couldn't slow down Oregon's offense and they killed themselves with turnovers.

Glad I gave up my alumni homecoming tickets to wvu/Syracuse. I could call better plays drunk. Our head coach is terrible, Bill Stewart. I'm glad I worked under Rich Rod when I was a student intern for the team.

wow currently UT vs Iowa St is 21-6 Iowa.

Deranking Texas will go. A Deranking Texas will go and no getting back to being rank for Texas.

28-6 Iowa State now with about 12:30 left in the 4th Quarter. It's looking more and more like Nebraska got exposed by a very athletic, very mediocre UT team.

I think it is about time UT got shown that it was a massively over rated program. It struggled against very mediocre team like TTU and others yet gets highly rank.

OU is another team that is pretty clearly over rated year after year. It had a hard time again UT.

UT will be derank. They lost to Iowa. They should not make in on to the top 25 again this year nor should even started on it next year. This is another year that shows how massively some schools get over ranked year after year.

Oklahoma State University vs Nebraska today for OSU homecoming.

OSU is down 31-27 at half time. I am so excited to back to school at OSU in 2012. I miss gamedays and tailgating. I'm watching it streaming on espn3.com right now because California's comcast thinks it's unnecessary to broadcast on ABC like Oklahoma's ABC is doing.

Just went back and read a few of the replies in here. I haaaaaaaate OU.
I hate them with a passion that burns hotter than a thousand suns. And yes they are very overrated, even when they have a winning season.

Let see how many times have they played for championship and lost now? I can not remember the last time they won it in all the games they played in. They loss to a school and still get a good ranking. It is massively sad.
I want to see OU loss more than UT for no other reason than they are even more over rate than UT. I am hoping after this year UT over rating finally gets put in its place.

Not a fan of either, but a Boise vs. Oregon for the national title would shake the BCS foundation forcing a playoff. I know this can't happen but it would be nice.
