College Gameday is coming to Salt Lake City this week! Everyone get prepared for an epic football game.

P-Worm

Yeah that's great news. I'm taking a TCU friend of mine to the A&M-OU game next week, which doesn't start until 6 Central, so we're going to sit in my favorite bar near the stadium and get ****-housed watching TCU-Utah beforehand.

Should be a great day.

Please allow me to give the first BCS rant of the evening

Look, I know my Stanford Cardinal won't win the Pac-10; fine, I can accept that. What I cannot accept or agree with is that just because the Pac-10 champ happens to be the #1 team in the country, Stanford is forced to go to the Sun or Alamo bowl because the BCS forces the Rose Bowl to take a non-BCS school in the place of a Pac-10 team. I mean we could finish 11-1 and still go to a crap bowl game, all because we lost to a team that frankly no one in the country has a real chance of beating;it's just a load of BS.

Uh...conferences get two teams into BCS bowls all the time. If Stanford wins out they will be in the Fiesta, Sugar or Orange Bowl. Guaranteed.

And speaking of the BCS...the new poll is out with some changes at the top: Oregon takes over the #1 spot and TCU jumps Boise to take the #3 spot.

Discuss.

Looks like the Big East could be on the verge of moving forward with expansion, and TCU is the top target.

The regularly-scheduled meeting of the presidents and athletic directors figures to be intense as the BCS-football playing members of the league intend on pressing their agenda to add teams to the eight-team football conference.

"The goal is to get the presidents' blessing to seriously pursue teams," said one Big East athletic director. "I don't think we're going to get pushback on that."

Several sources confirmed a Post report last month that TCU is a strong candidate. Houston, Central Florida, Temple and/or Villanova, which is in the midst of evaluating a move up from FCS, are other lead candidates.

Two sources said if the presidents give their blessing to explore expansion, invitations could be issued before the end of the college football season. TCU is said to be very interested, as is Central Florida.

By adding TCU and Houston, the Big East would gain TV viewership in two significant markets (Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston) and give football programs a recruiting toehold in talent-rich Texas.

The expansion issue is ultra sensitive. The non-football playing members, who include most of the league's charter members, do not wish to expand the conference from its already bloated 16-team makeup.

A little over a month ago, MSU defensive end Nick Bell started complaining of severe headaches and numbness. He passed away today of brain cancer. He was 20 years old.

A moment of silence. :(

We hear so much about football injuries causing brain trauma, you don't expect to hear a story like this. Makes me sad.

aTm you better get ready to get an a** whooping from OU. :p

In the Stoops era, every OU-A&M game at Kyle Field (except for 2008) has been a barn burner. Vegas has OU as only a 3.5-point favorite, so they obviously think it's going to be another one this week.

We're used to losing to the Gooners, though. We've gotten used to losing to a lot of teams the last ten years.

So who thinks there'll be another top 5 shake up this weekend? I fear the Utes as a Frog fan. I'm sure they have revenge in mind for what happened last year and they can really make a case for themselves.

That being said, TCU can really nail down a permanent spot in the BCS top five with a win Saturday and finishing undefeated again.

This is a huge opportunity for both our teams. Good luck, but I hope my team squashes those toadies. It's going to be epic, I'm working on my gamesay sign right now.

That seems odd considering they are now one of the "haves" (or will be in a few months).

They mention that as a way of giving even more credence to their case

Next season, Utah will be moving into one of the conferences with an automatic bid. But Shurtleff said that isn't deterring him.

"This has never been for me to get the University of Utah bragging rights," he said. If anything, Shurtleff argued, Utah's move gives him more credibility with attorneys general from other states he is seeking to recruit for his anti-BCS crusade.
