I'm surprised evilgeek hasn't posted this in outrage yet. From ESPN.com: Ohio State president says TCU and Boise State aren't worthy of BCS Title game.

I saw that... what a load of BS from an annually overrated Ohio State program
I have no doubt Boise and TCU both would kick Ohio State's ass

I think it was totally inappropriate for him to make those remarks
It is one thing to lobby for his one loss team, but entirely another to take shots like that

Irresponsible

I think it is funny too, to hear Les Miles lobby for LSU, even though they won't win the SEC. He said after the Ole Miss game the best team should play regardless of conference championship. Ha! Totally opposite of his sentiments when the Dawgs should have played in the BCS instead of LSU.

Hey Aggies!

EFF YOU!

:p

Ha ha ha ha ha!! That frickin cracked me up! So beautiful in it's simplicity! :D

Yeah, believe me, had I not been swamped at work today I would have posted it. What a complete moron.

I'm with MacDawg. Lobby for your own team, but don't take shots at other teams.

The man is simply making a fool of himself.

Now I really want to see Stanford and Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. 1971 redux with Andrew Luck going all Jim Plunkett on the Buckeyes!

But I fully expect OSU to get a BCS slot and Stanford to get screwed.

Now, I won't argue that Boise or TCU has a difficult schedule, or that they deserve the BCS game
But I would argue that Ohio State's schedule is nothing to brag about either
And when their arrogant President says Boise and TCU are unworthy and have proven nothing, he looks petty

Mighty Ohio State has played 1 Top 20 team all year and lost
Their non-conference schedule is 2 MAC teams and 1 Conference USA team
Marshall, Ohio and Eastern Michigan

Boise on the other hand, has played 1 Top 20 team on the road and won
And unlike Ohio State, they will play another Top 20 team this week
Their non-conference schedule is 1 ACC, 1 PAC 10, 1 MAC
Va Tech, Oregon State and Toledo

What has Ohio State proved?
Why are they worthy of anything?
They are always overrated and consistently wet the bed in big games

He should let the FANS argue, rant and rave about such things
For the President of a University to say them is demeaning to the office and is irresponsible

I think he's talking more about their conference schedules than their non-conference schedules - and in that case, he has a point.

Yes. YES! Feeeeeeeeel the hate.

Here's hoping you feel a lot more of it tonight.

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly, and yet I would argue a Big 10 Conference schedule is fairly weak too
Indiana
Purdue
Illinois
Minnesota
Blech

Yes, the Boise Conference schedule is weak, but they do all they can to schedule out of conference

I honestly don't take exception to what he said, but rather to the fact that he said it in the position he is in. It was unprofessional for a University President in my opinion. That is something for the fans to say, not a President.

Face it, you guys are going to lose. But in the off chance you win it is only because we hexed ourselves. Seriously the huge hex poster fell over itself as soon as we lit the candles and then when they dropped the Texas flag, it got held up on a balcony...So ya, your going to lose, but if you don't now you know why.

Looks like you are only a 3 point home dawg according to Vegas :D

Man, I was feeling pretty good until I got off the phone with a buddy that works for the athletic department. He says this week's practice was horrible, with players going through the motions, but no energy at all. He overheard some of the leaders on defense say that they can't wait for the season to be over with.

I hope none of this is true, but I've known this guy for a long time - I can't imagine he'd BS me about it. If it's true, it doesn't bode well for us.

As far as I'm concerned - if players can't get up for A&M, they shouldn't be on the team. F 'em. Play the second string for the whole game if that's what it takes.

That is discouraging to say the least, and I agree with you
Let the hungry players play and earn their spot for next year

I don't think the Dawgs will have that problem with Tech

Cyrus Gray is fast!

EDIT: Looks like Mike Leach is now suing ESPN for slander. I'm not sure what to think about Leach, but I have absolutely ZERO respect for Craig James, and it wouldn't surprise me if James fed ESPN with misinformation.

I'm in a terrible position. I actually want UT (ugh) to win today. :(

Doesn't look like it's gonna happen, man. But I am happy that it seems we came out to compete. A&M is a better team, but I don't think we packed it in, which is nice.

What a weird way for the game to end. Why didn't that return man go jump on it?? Guess he just assumed the Aggies would touch it..

So, Texas doesn't go bowling for the first time in Mack Brown's tenure.

dmr, what do you think Texas' problem was this year? Certainly can't be a lack of talent. Coaching problems?

I hope ESPN losses big time and James should of been sack. He is now directly responseble for 2 programs being damage. He was part of the group that earned SMU its death sentences and I believe all he stats and records should be stripped. Now he got TTU torpedo

I dunno man. Some of it is a lack of playmakers, but we should always have players good enough to win at least seven games, IMO. I think we took it on the chin against UCLA, and didn't have leaders to get the team back up again. I blame the coaching staff for this too.

It's perplexing, that's for sure. I've been around long enough to not go overboard and think firing the coaching staff is the solution. These coaches have proven they're good (although I'm still not convinced our offensive coordinator [Greg Davis] is worth a crap), and they deserve the benefit of the doubt. So I don't have an answer, but given the success that I've had the pleasure of enjoying over the last decade or so, I'm cool with shrugging my shoulders over this season and seeing what our staff does to right the ship.

But if this becomes a regular thing, put me on suicide watch! ;)

Supposedly Cyrus Gray thanked Mack Brown for not recruiting him in the postgame press conference. :D

Ahhhh f off, Ignatius! :D

I dunno man...

Yeah, anyone that calls for Mack Brown's head is a complete moron. What that coaching staff has done over the last decade has been incredible.

It's like the Georgia fans/media saying Richt needs to go. Are you kidding me?!

Now, Dan Hawkins? Yeah. Heh. He needed to go.

Over the last five or six years it seems Boise State's coaching staff has been able to do some incredible things with our recruits, so a lot of fans like to wonder what we could do with four or five star recruits.

I honestly think the reason our coaching staff is able to do what they do is because the kids we do get have already been snubbed by the bigger schools, so they have a chip on their shoulders and have that drive, mixed with very little ego. The bigger schools that get these five star recruits have to deal with players with a giant ego and a sense of entitlement. I think that would be very difficult to coach.

Programs can't stay up forever, they ALL have their down times
It is important to know when there are actual problems with coaches and when to stick with them

I think the Dawgs have a rare coach in Richt, and I value his character
Could he be a stronger coach, like Saban, etc.? Perhaps
But you always have to think ahead to who you will replace them with
I don't have a replacement in mind for the Dawgs

So true. While Brown certainly has to shoulder the blame for a 5-7 season, in reality everything's cyclical. The fact that he managed nine straight 10-win seasons (and 12 straight nine-win seasons) is remarkable.

A lot of Whorn fans want to fire Greg Davis but it my mind that's just as silly as wanting to fire Mack Brown. Just like they did when it looked like they would never get over the OU hump, they want a scapegoat and the OC is a convenient target. But all you have to do is look at how he tailored the offense to fit the talents of Vince Young (great athlete/terrible QB skills) and Colt McCoy (small school guy who didn't have any business playing major conference QB) and turned them into superstars.

While Davis is the trendy one to blame, no one seems to want to point the finger at the million-dollar DC, whose "best defense ever" (Mack's words preseason) gave up monster rushing totals in home losses to UCLA (264 yds), Iowa State (199 yds), Kansas State (261 yds), and A&M (238 yds). Of course, Muschamp didn't have Von Miller. ;)
