Awwwww....with Texas taking the year off, it's cute to see all the little brothers of the conference sqabble amongst themselves!

:p:p:p

Oh, 1 win in the last 8 meetings.

One win in the last one meeting, too. But it's okay to be a sore loser since you had to go to "school" in Mobilehoma. At least you had the good sense to move to Texas after you finished.

Also at least I don't have to put a fake signature up about being the Big 12 South Champions.

What's fake about it?

with Texas taking the year off

You know, I was wondering why Mack was going to fire all his coaches. They must've forgotten there was a season this year.

It says the Aggies are Big 12 South Champions, does it not? Last time I checked you lost the three way tie and the Sooners are going, or is there some major typos going on out there? :p

There are three Big 12 South Champions this year. Only one actually quit playing football during a game in hopes the BCS wouldn't slap their wrists too hard for losing.

Neither is Mark Richt

Good luck finding someone with a high profile to take over the U

I don't know whether to feel happy or sad USF's win forced Miami to find a new coach. Miami will find a new coach easily. There's still a lot of talent there and it's a major football team in the state.

As a Florida fan, watching UF-FSU game ticked me the hell off. It wasn't the team that lost the game, it was the coaches.

So there is a chance that y'all could be the Big 12 Champions?

I'm not sure, are they having a play-in for all the teams that qualified or did they use a random number generator to select the South representative?

On a different note, the Ags are Cotton Bowl bound. The loser of the Second Place Game in Arlington this weekend can have fun playing in the Insight Bowl. Book your tickets to sunny Tempe now, Boomer.

All I know is that TCU, if they keep up what they've done the last 2/3 seasons...will annihilate other Big East Football teams as they stand right now.

Looks like we're going to be each others arch nemesis now as the resident WVU fan and TCU fan. :D

I dunno about TCU dominating the Big East but I can definitely attest to a talented team coming to the conference. I'm wondering who else will be added...Villanova would be the equivalent of Western Kentucky.

I actually agree with renewed on this one. Unless the team is representing the division in the championship game, they aren't the division champs. That School Up North did that one year during Eli Manning's tenure. They technically tied with LSU, but LSU ended up going to the SEC championship game. That didn't stop them from hanging up "2003 SEC West champs" banners in the stadium, despite the fact that they have never represented the West in Atlanta. I think it's cheesy and a little sad. If your team isn't playing for the conference championship, they didn't win the division.

Yup and it irritates the crap out of me...I prefer the good ole days of teams running the Power I, Wishbone, Flex, and Wing T. Not too fond of passing but I know it's how many teams [including TCU] make their bread and butter.

I hate to break it to you, but TCU runs more than they pass. 2764 yards passing, 3134 rushing. Spread offense doesn't mean Mike Leach style passing. The version that Dan Mullen runs, along with the likes of Urban Meyer and Rich Rod, is a run-heavy version of the spread. Many of the formations we ran this year were basically power I or flexbone formations run from the shotgun. Some plays were straight from the old triple option playbook, just with the players lined up in different places.

We're in first place in the Big 12 South with no games left regardless of what the BCS says. We won't be doing what UTex did back in 2008 when they got "screwed" by the tiebreaker...

...but we can certainly claim to be Big 12 South Champions (or co- or tri-champs or whatever you want to call it).

Besides that, the real reason for doing it here is to get the Gooners all fired up, which is always fun.

I thought aggies were just bad at screwing in light bulbs. I didn't know they couldn't read. :p

If it helps you sleep at night to pretend to be the Big 12 South Champions then go for it but I'd get that reading comprehension (or listening if sports radio is your thing) checked out.

Speaking of reading comprehension, where did I ever say A&M was Big 12 Champions this year?

Interesting note about that: Jackie Sherrill is getting inducted into the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame this year, along with Joe Montana and some other folks. Kind of fitting that A&M will be playing there. Too bad we probably won't be getting selected for the Cotton, since the last Mississippi State - Texas A&M bowl game ended up such a classic.

Yeah that was a great game (though the ending sucked ). Cold as hell. I was at that game...totally unprepared for the weather.

I think A&M-LSU is almost a lock, though there's also a decent chance that Bama could get the SEC invite. A&M and LSU have a lot of history but haven't played since 1995, so this could be a great matchup in the 75th Anniversary game.

I dunno, I was rather pleased with the ending. :D I think the secret was our all white uniforms. It was too difficult for the A&M players to see our guys.
Little did I know that game would lead to decade of hell. Our football program went down the tubes in a hurry after that.

I wasn't at the game, but was still in Starkville watching the game with some friends. During the game, we were joking that the snow probably wouldn't make it to Starkville. Around halftime, we opened the door to check outside and got proven wrong. Later that night, I almost ran off the road not due to snow, but due to the fact I found out the city of Starkville owned a snowplow. I passed it going down the road and I was so shocked I almost drove off the road.

Looks like maybe the Gruden to Miami deal isn't dead after all. I'm not sure hiring an out-of-work NFL coach is what the Canes need, but hiring Gruden would certainly make a splash.

Hocutt flew to Tampa last night, and is scheduled to meet with Gruden today. Some reports have it done already, some reports have the Canes scheduling a presser for later today, and some have it blah blah blah. There is way too much gossip going around for this not to be true. Im hearing/reading that the contract is there (4 years, $15.1 million), and his brother Jay will be the offensive coordinator.

I saw a tweet last night (so take this with a large grain of salt) that said Jay would be OC and Jim Leavitt would be hired as DC.

This site is reporting that the deal is done, and that he will meet the team and staff today, and that a presser is scheduled for tomorrow. Then, there is another tweet that says the Canes will meet with Mullen next. There is just way too much BS coming from all sorts of directions right now, and if Gruden doesnt sign with the Canes, sites like the one I just posted should be automatically be shut down. A lot of guys are going to lose major credibility if Gruden doesnt sign.

ESPN is now saying that all the Gruden "done deal" talk is premature.

Heard from a source the Gruden-to-Miami report was "premature." The meeting this AM is to gauge interest. No terms had ever been discussed.

The problem is that there is too much information these days and it's too easy to disseminate it, but you can't shut down a blog for posting rumors (and on whose authority would that happen, anyway?). The site you are posting this on, for instance, would not exist if such things were allowed.

I actually think Mullen would be a better hire than Chuckie
He wouldn't have the star power and hype, but I think his results would be better

Well, this just shows how screwed up the BCS is. Nevada loses nearly $1 million because they beat Boise.

I don't think we really needed that to show us the BCS is screwed up
I mean, didn't we all already know that? :)
