Who would've thought we wouldn't even be in a bowl game this year? Holy crap!
Even the Dawgs are bowl eligible after our crappy year

Get ready for a miserable few days (or weeks), steve2112. Having your coach be the target of other, "better" (at least some people think so) jobs is miserable. We had to go through it in basketball when Arkansas (didn't get our coach) and Kentucky (did get him) came after Billy Gillispie a few years ago, then again last year when Oregon came hard after Mark Turgeon. They didn't get him, but it was a miserable couple of weeks as the rumors flew.
Looks like Colorado is now focusing on Alabama's OC after striking out with Air Force coach Troy Calhoun. In case any of you felt a breeze coming from Texas, that was all of Aggieland letting out a sigh of relief (for now) that our DC won't be headed back to Colorado Springs to be the head coach at his alma mater.
He's barely above .500 (13-11) and has one yet to be determined bowl appearance.
Above .500 at MSU is like back to back 10 win seasons in most places![]()
Laugh it up, UGA boy. All I have to say is 24-12.
(Hey, look, these type of seasons are few and far between for us. Let me enjoy them)
As an MSU fan for 40+ years, I can vouch for that.
Looks like the MSU victory was embarrassing for TSUN beyond the field.
And not so fast on the Colorado job. From out of left field comes Washington Redskins tight ends coach and former CU player Jon Embree. Isn't the coaching carousel fun?
"It was never about me doing it again," McCartney said in an interview with The Denver Post. "It was about setting the table for a black man to come in (as head coach). And he (Bohn) hired one. Now, give him a chance."
My brother went to CU for grad school, so I hear quite a bit of CU talk and they don't seem too pleased with the hire (if it's true). According to the Bill McCartney (the former coach who was in the running for the job), it seems the key qualifications CU is looking for in a new coach are being A) a former Buffs player and B) black. I guess they got their guy![]()
I saw those quotes and just shook my head. All I can say is that I wouldn't recommend hiring a guy who has been a career position coach in the NFL. We did that, and uh, it didn't work out very well.
Well in their defense, Embree has mostly been a college coach. Other than the last few years he's spent in the NFL, he was...
- 2004 - 2005: UCLA Asst. Head Coach/TEs/Passing Game Coordinator
- 2003: UCLA Asst. Head Coach/WRs
- 2001 - 2002: Colorado WRs/Ks Coach
- 1999 - 2000: Colorado TEs Coach
- 1995 - 1998: Colorado DEs Coach
- 1993 - 1994: Colorado TEs Coach

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Jon Gruden apologized Thursday for widespread speculation about his candidacy to be Miami's next football coach, and said he's willing to help the Hurricanes find the right person for the job.
The former Super Bowl-winning coach and current ESPN analyst reiterated his commitment to "Monday Night Football" for the second time this week, and the network repeated that it expects Gruden to at least complete his contract, which runs through 2011.
Gruden met face to face with Hurricanes athletic director Kirby Hocutt on Wednesday.
"I'd just like to say I'm committed to ESPN," Gruden said on a conference call. "There's not a lot to add. I'm very thankful to have the job that I have and I'm eager to try to get better at it. And I know there was a lot of speculation over the last few days, and for that, I'm sorry. I'm just excited to be with 'Monday Night Football.' "
Gruden won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and also has coached the Oakland Raiders. He began working as an analyst for ESPN in 2009.
Despite reports that circulated earlier in the week that Miami was in final negotiations with Gruden and nearing a deal, he said Thursday "there was never anything really serious about this."
Dave Van Halanger, who has been the Georgia football programs director of strength and conditioning for the past decade, was reassigned Thursday.
Van Halanger was shifted to a new position as administrative assistant to coach Mark Richt, who named Joe Tereshinski, a former Georgia player and long-time staffer, to succeed Van Halanger as strength and conditioning director.
Van Halanger - one of the first people Richt hired upon arriving at Georgia in January 2001 has more than three decades experience as a strength coach and is well known for his grueling off-season mat drills. But Georgias strength training, like many other aspects of the program, has drawn criticism as the Bulldogs have posted back-to-back disappointing seasons.
The reassignment of Van Halanger, 57, came exactly one year after Richts last staff shakeup. On Dec. 2. 2009, following a 7-5 regular season, Richt fired three assistant coaches, including defensive coordinator Willie Martinez.
Jon Gruden: 'I'm committed to ESPN'
Probably the best thing for the 'Canes in the long run
Maybe not the best for Mississippi State though
In other news...
Tereshinski replaces Van Halanger as Dogs strength director
I think this was a needed step. From what I understand Van Halanger had been experience health problems over the past year or so, and was not as involved as perhaps he should have been. Regardless, the Dawgs have been pushed around a good bit, and something needed to be done.
BTW, wasn't Joe Tereshinski a backup QB just a couple of years ago?
For the Aggies:
Now you've done it. The Gooners/Fuskers are going to be coming out of the woodwork.
Fuskers? That's a new one! I've never heard that one before.
I just made it up.![]()

Fuskers is trademarked.
As a Nebraska fan, all I can say is, "it's good to be hated".
