You have no evidence of that, while we know that most customers who are happily buying Macbooks and Mac Minis are just as happily giving $200-$500 to someone else for smaller monitors. This is a missed opportunity for Apple no matter how you look at it.
That's what the word
may means. I was speculating based on the knowledge available to me, from personal experiences and research.
The point of my post still stands (and is actually reinforced by your reply). Everyone believes their need would, could or should be filled by Apple creating a product to fill it; and because they haven't, they're 'losing money' or 'missing an opportunity'.
E.g. "I need a 24" Apple Display because it would fit perfectly on my desk, Apple is really missing an opportunity by not making one."
On the larger scale this is akin to going after a car maker because you love their brand, superior design and performance, but make only $35,000 a year. They're not losing money, they're maintaining a brand and have current operations scaled to make money by producing the supply required by that brand.
The market growth of the Apple computer brand in the past 2 or 3 years has resulted in a absurd level of narcissism by consumers. Because they love their MBP, they really want a 30" monitor (because it's Apple).
"What, it's $1,000!? That's crazy. I guess I really don't need a 30" monitor, but I bet if they made a 23" it would be in my price range. Apple needs to make one. If they don't, they're just losing money..."
