No no no no!!! Come on apple, seriously ??? What is this???
If there's no 27" today I hope someone at apple gets fired. Someone clearly manage to screw up constantly. This can't be happening :( I'm guessing the top end 27" is the one we won't see, since that's what I'm getting. I'm so frustrated I could cry right now.

Oh well just get this event over with so we can start the bashing and moaning again for another few 5-6 months.

I'm not waiting and I hope the whole iMac team gets fired or pay cut

Bad news guys- 9 to 5 Mac is reporting that some of the iMacs have been pushed so far back that it may be there is no mention of them at all at the event today!

Looking at all the evidence ( or should I say rumours and supposed leaks), including that original analysts timeline, it seems that Apple has had massive problems with the 27 inch display. It does not look like retina so it is likely screen lamination issues for this new glued on screen.

I would guess a new iMac is definitely coming, but we may not see it announced today.

They ,at least, must say something really convincing,Ipadmini,ibooks3 and NewItunes ARE NOT ENOUGH and all the event risks to be a boomerang and an insult to those who are waiting for the desktops and a real gift for who wants to win over Apple.

It is the post PC era though, you forgot they have that gorgeous Retina MacBook Pro to showcase

If no Imac isn't even ...talked this time i suppose they were already been fired or re-used to some new Toys they hope to sell us..failing to sell the first product a good and reliable company must never lose..respect for its users.
I-Tv?I prefer my 47" Lg620lm with Dlna and Android instead..its as Wifi,Skype,a very good style,a good price point 600-800€ and its here already not making me wait ages..for nothing.
I think that Apple,if is failing to give out any explanations on desktops even this time again, will only show that it has literally lost contact with the reality..and all the glue its using on its toys now jusy shows only some kind of Freudian lapsus, because they're unglued with the reality but just with Distortion Field which is looping with boring results.
This year i didn't see till here all the Great products Cook was tryng to make us believe were really existing,so he did with himself..just self convincing. This is the last call ,Apple please, prove me i'm wrong today.

Me too. This time i'll drop the whole band wagon.

Hi i'm new here, I registered just to explain my situation. I'm from Spain and I need a new computer to work and i've decided to buy a iMac since July. Well I've been waiting for so long and I can't stand anymore waiting for something that it's not sure... I'm so tired of this but i just know one thing for sure... I'M NOT GONNA SPEND ONE € in a computer with 540 days from his last release!!!

So Apple.... do it or explain the situation! we deserve it and more!

PD: I'm 27 yo engineer and i don't play with iToys. I've and iPad, but the most important for me is a powered computer that allows me to be productive...

What about the SKUs? It may happen that Apple won't ship the 27-inchers direct after launch, we already knew that one week ago. In the past, Apple announced products and shipped them later, even weeks, that's kinda normal and acceptable esp. for iMacs. Moreover, there are no iMacs in stock in so many stores; Apple wanna make money, right? Next thing I'm wondering about: How long will Sandy Bridge processors be produced?

As long as there's no "yep" regarding no new iMacs from JD, I won't give my hopes up. If there are indeed no new iMacs today, yes, I will be disappointed and will not even think about buying an outdated 2011 iMac (would I even get one?). Luckily it's for sure that life will go on... :)

What I don't understand with 9to5s latest info. How can apple send out SKU's for products they won't deliver?!?
I mean even if the new iMacs don't come out in big numbers before in 2 months they have to release them around now?
Personally I don't care if I order with a 1-2 month delivery time. I just need to know I can get one before the year is over

No Imacs today?A storm is incoming over Apple even if they don't even realize.

Apple and the hermetism..... you will never know nothing for sure about this company. We're here like mads looking at the sky waiting for angels, ufos, pokemons and dragons... this is ridiculous...

I just want to spend my money on a new computer cos I don't wanna sped and euro on a 1.5 years old computer....

We’ve heard that the some of the iMacs that we found earlier have been pushed so far back that they might not warrant inclusion at the event this week.

Let's face it: In the worst case, there are no new 27" iMacs today. I just can't imagine that Apple wouldn't sell a new 21.5" iMac if its already prepared for selling. However, I also don't see Apple not introducing the 27 incher besides the 21.5" iMac, although Kuo could be right (not on the timeframe).

9to5mac also writes it's a "gameday decision". Didn't know that Apple plays dice with its product lauches...

Yeah, I can't really see this happening either. There are sku's given out to stores of 4 imac products coming. two 21.5" and two 27". I just don't see the apple store updated tonight with a "new" tag over the imac but with ONLY 21.5" imacs inside to order and NO info on the 27" - as if the entire product is not existing anymore.

I think either they update it or they won't all together. If they don't update it because of some major f-up, then it's not something they decide the last minute before the event. Apple would never make that decision on the fly and 1 day of production is not gonna change the situation either....it's a huge production line...its not like "hey! we made 1 million units today, we can release it after all".

But nonetheless, I'm scared!! Either this even will be the best or the worst  All I want is an iMac and it seems Apple can't deliver that to me. ANd now, the current 2011 model is almost unavailable with 1 month of delivery for the BTO. I'm not gonna wait 1 month to get a 1.5 year old hardware.

The new iMac will be introduced. The 27 may be shipped later. Id' say we might see a 3 week delay in shipping of the 27s. I hope not, but that's what I'm expecting...

I'm starting to wonder if the new iMacs ARE going to be retina. Surely, if they weren't, there'd be no way they'd have this many problems with the 27 (even with the new glass enclosure trouble that was reported a few months back).

____________________________________________________________

My money is on a Special Retina version that won't be available until late November with the others ready to go.

1 x 21 - 1 x 24 - 1 x 27 - 1 x Retina @ 24.

Ha! there's no way I'm even close to the money here!

I am also scared, but rather of having no real alternative if there are no new iMacs today.

New Mac mini + old Cinema Display? Well, no! No new 27" iMac -> no new 27" CD. Hence, new USB3 hub and no MagSafe2.

MacBook + Display? Well, that's the way I am working now, MBA 11" + LG Display. I can tell you... it sucks badly!

So, Mac mini + LG Display... I am not thrilled.

I really hope that Apple will at least explain if there are no iMacs today, and simultaneously, will remove the price tag from that old-aged iMac... but hey, it's Apple: "Sorry, we could have reasonably produced new iMacs, they are just too thin."

I've been lurking this forum and these threads for a long time now.
And now i became a member, hoping Apple reads this forum.

No iMacs today means they are losing customers in the desktop segment.

My computer needs to be updated and this is the last chance they get. The waiting was long enough allready. As a former Pro user i feel neclected. But now i also feel neglected as a Mac Mini and imac user. There are countless graphic designers and enthousiasts that need a new Apple desktop. Instead they are getting a mini version of a useless tablet (useless for work that is).

It's sad. I feel sad.

I really hope they at the very least MENTION a new iMac coming in the next two weeks.

I think it will be a new model by the way. Not just an update. Was hoping for a big show even. How can you talk more than two minutes about a smaller iPad that does the same as the larger one...?

Anyway......... sadness engulfs me. It feels like i'm saying goodbuy to an OS i love. Almost forced to use an OS i hate.

I'm with you... 3 weeks delay. Though, I don't see a 24" version of the new iMac. However, the SKUs (if they were for the new iMac) could possibly fit in that scheme. I would definitely go for a 24".

I think, that lamination process is fairly complex for very large screens. But hey, Apple wanna make the "best products in the world" *yawns*. So, take your time Apple, we really care about iMac's thinness.

Honestly, reading all the posts in this thread I don't know what I think at the moment.

One things for sure there is a lot of *****-stirring going on vs a lot of positivity. Whether there is enough positivity to get me through the 9 hours wait or not today I don't know, hey, I guess I'll just have to get on with the normal working day and try not to think about it. Hoping I get a nice surprise around 5pm UK time and I can buy myself a new iMac at the weekend.

Arguably, the SKUs and leaked photo means that there is more evidence towards their existence than their non-existence, but we don't know and we can't necessarily say for sure. If we could the *****-stirrers would have been silenced by now.

Speculation is great, but like (I'm presuming) a lot of people I've got a lot of money to invest in a new machine and I really want apple to have it in return for a new iMac. Whether I'm prepared to wait to do this, I guess so since I've waited so long anyway. Whether I'm prepared to wait any longer without any news whatsoever from the mouth of Apple I'm not sure.

I'd certainly be looking at alternatives... I'm not saying I'd jump right in for an alternative but I'd seriously look at it...

Until there is proper news and confirmed evidence, I'll keep my fingers crossed and I hope you all do the same! Not that keeping our fingers crossed will make the blind bit of difference. The order of play today is already decided. That's for sure...

Why does Apple owe you or any of us anything? The sense of entitlement on this thread is nuts.

I agree that the sense of entitlement is crazy. But your video doesn't nail anything, however great it is :p (love CK).

Apple is a company with a lot of customers.
A lot of these customers need new hardware once in every few years.
They buy the next version of the product they are happy with.

A lot of cusomers have not seen any significant upgrade in a long time now. I personally know a lot of designers who were working on a Mac Pro who are now working on a Windows machine. They just didn't think Apple was serious about them as a customer anymore. So they moved on.They didn't feel entitled, just dissapointed.

Again, i agree, Apple doesn't ow us diddly squat. But they are giving the impression that they are slow and arrogant. As a customer who loves the products, i'm getting more and more frustrated by this attitude. And i'm far from the only one. It's something they should be aware of i think. Not that it matters right now, cause they don't need the graphic designers and the creative customers anymore, because very other person on the street right now buys phones and pads from Apple. I think in the long run, it can be damaging.

You not understand ENGLISH

NO PHOTOS INSIDE APPLE STORE

You could send a pic 1 minute after the Event ends and the window is revealed in all its glory.

You'd still be the hero and everyone would at least believe you for next time setting it up nicely.

But them maybe it will happen like when people see UFOS or Bigfoot...the camera won't work, there'll be nothing on the film or you'll be so frozen and transfixed by the power of the Window Display you'll be unable to reach for the camera...

:D

If just bloody TC check this topic and see that there is more then 3000post from people who want to spend cash to buy iMac he would freeky upgrade it for sure.....

Roughly calculation:

3000 x 1900EUR = 5.700.000milion from people in this topic :)

+1 Forsaking heavy and pro-users is a heavy mistake for apple, it could happen like Nintendo Wii, when the fashion is out what do you have? Yes, pro-users like me that would pay an extra price for a well designed Mac...
