I need the 21.5 base model as soon as possible, but november could be the first or the 30th.... does somebody know about? :(

I think Non BTO's will be available to order from the 1st of November with a 2-3 week shipping notice.

That's just my guess, although it could vary between Countries.

The base model is very expensive here at 1399 Euro, compared to $1299 in the States.

By the way, is there a slight chance the date will change and get released earlier?

I wouldn't be surprised to get it earlier. I think the 'December' date is Apple playing it safe incase they can't get the screen issue fixed early enough.

I fully expect it by Thanksgiving (27")

screen issue is probably fixed by now doubt it has anything to do with that

I've got a 2009 27" iMac with the i7 CPU. I was planning to sell it to get the latest iMac. I am totally underwhelmed by the new 27" iMac that was announced yesterday. I'm not impressed by the "thinness," or the lack of an optical drive, either, and apparently the only choice of keyboard is "wireless."

Yawn. :(

ODD is a dead format. Move on.

And not having a WIRED keyboard? Really? That's an issue? I'm sure you can easily swap that with a wired one if you ask. Gees, some of you guys will complain about anything.

I hope that they have enough supply to keep up with demand of the 27" at launch, because I really don't want to wait any longer than I'll already have to to get a BTO... I think a year's been a long enough wait already!

Nobody makes a wired keyboard with the feel of Apple's keys.

I don't care about wired/wireless but I do care about the numpad.. anyone have any luck with the trackpad mod?

So from the little bit of information on the Tech Specs page, it seems like the only way to get pure flash storage, is to go 27" and then you're stuck with buying Apple's arm-and-a-leg 768gb flash for a million dollars. Why isn't there any options for 128 and 256 across the board? Why are we stuck with fusion? Why am I asking so many questions!?

I am really beginning to regret waiting for this.

That's the problem - this iMac may potentially be a fantastic revision but until people are able to apply all the configurable s and see the final price which will make it a great iMac it's all theory. There's a limit and whilst iMac's have always been overpriced (I know as I own / have owned many) this particular revisions may prove to be eye wateringly expensive to achieve a great machine.

Buy Apples Wired Keyboard

You can buy a fusion drive in the 21.5 BTO.

Check your information before posting.

At that point just buy the 27"!

I'm enjoying the 21.5" model getting hazed. It's not meant for any "pro" users. Go big or go home.

Yeah I guess we will need to wait. Although when I looked a the Tech Specs page for other Macs that can be configured with SSD or Flash, it lists all configurable options. I am worried Apple is strong arming people into accepting "Fusion" or paying a thousand dollars for their 768 of flash soldered to the logic board. I have no problem with going all flash, I just wish 256 was an option... the more and more I look at the tech specs and compare things, it seems like the wording is clear - 768, fusion, or slow spinner - no in-betweens.

The 660M itself is pretty good, just a shade under the top 2011 performance. The 512MB VRAM they gave it is scary bad.

Thanks for the heads up buddy - I know very little about GPU's but I was feeling a little worried about the 512MB... really worrying to see that you can't upgrade the GPU in the base model, I can't stretch to the model above that :(

What are you going to do seeing as your iMac died? It could be a looooong wait!

I've commandeered my wife's 2008 MacBook for basic surfing while I wait. I can't get back to game playing (fortunately I also have the Xbox), but at least I'm not disconnected.
