It'll happen in October. That's about all we know. And that's based off of pure speculation. So take any and all opinions or estimates with a grain of Apple juice.

It feels kind of odd, that apple would wait this long. When looking at the present models, the hardware feels a bit weak compared to the pricing... I posted a thread here a couple of days ago and got the answer that the present iMac would more then suffice for my needs. Then I read this thread, and decided to wait. If an october launch is possible, when will we see more rumors popping up?

They could not possibly wait until 2013, even if it's a redesign, right?

Hate waiting.

Now I think of it, I actually dont think we will see an IMAC release this October - we have had solid rumors about an IMAC release 2013 and it just wouldent make sense to update it now, then another one 4/5 months down the line again.

I am giving it until the second week of October, if nothing happens then I am buying.

"Solid rumors about an iMac release 2013"? Links please?
Haswell is scheduled to come out between March and June, unless there are delays on Intel's end. Apple may well easily release a new iMac this October, and another one in July/August 2013. That would bring the release next cycle to 300+ days.

There has been more concrete discussion about an upcoming IMAC in 2013 than there has of an upcoming 2012 IMAC.

Everyone on this forum has been wrong about a possible 2012 IMAC.

People only say October because it makes sense, sending people into a false sense of hope. But absolutely no word from Apple.

I mean come one - Apple used 2011 IMACS at the 'IPHONE 5 event' on stage - didnt you see?

If there were new ones, Its very possible apple would be using them, there and then.

Firstly, Apple never gives a "word" whether or not a referesh is due.

Secondly, rumors have been quite strong about supply shortages over the past couple of weeks, which is reminiscent of Mac refreshes in the past.

I stand by my bet that the refresh will happen next month.

Please provide links to the "more concrete discussions about an upcoming iMac in 2013" than in 2012.
Apple never gave any forewarning about new releases, the only notable exception being the Mac Pro that is scheduled to be released in 2013.

As for the iMacs on stage, you say the were 2011 iMacs and not new ones, which incidentally nobody has seen and may very well share the same form factor.
Would you really be able to distinguish a 2010 iMac from a 2011 iMac from the distance in a small video? The 2009, 2010 and 2011 iMacs share the same case, so it's pretty much impossible to tell them apart just by looking at them (especially from the side in a video.)

Nope, not at all : it would be just stupid to show new iMacs at the iPhone 5 event ... please switch on the brains before writing nonsense ...

Yeah that would be the stupidest way of showing a product ever, the whole event would then switch focus at something that its not about.

I really do not mind anyone suggesting possibilities other than 2012. But when people go into complete nonsense and straight out "lies" it's really, really, really retarded. Where are the concrete discussions about 2013? no source at all has suggested 2013 as an iMac release date. Not even ****** digitimes that have proposed every possible date in this millenium. And wtf does "everyone on the forum has been wrong" mean ? How can you say they have been wrong when 2012 still has 3 months left. Jesus. Insert brainplug into the wall socket.

Seriously... just go buy it now. Your post further down just made it pretty clear there wont be a 2012 iMac so buy the 2011, hook up with harry, and have fun crossing wands or whatever it is you guys do.

I'd like to know this "solid rumors" for 2013 iMac as well, please be specific next time you decide to share your opinion with us. I'm not sayin' it can't be 2013 but so far we've had numerous rumors (be it solid/non-solid) about 2012 iMacs but not a word they should be coming in 2013. Except, of course you and some other people on this forum.

FACT is, there might not be a 2012 iMac. That's how it is with things that are uncertain, the "fact" is, anything can happen, but something being POSSIBLE doesn't imply its PROBABLE nor PLAUSIBLE.

HOWEVER, several sources have reported and rereported that new iMacs were leaving factories this summer for a fall launch. IF we assume that these reports are likely true, then it makes no sense for Apple to not sell these devices, even if they are indeed planing for Haswell in 2 months.

If you make a product that gets delayed, but you HAVE produced them, then you really DO wan't to sell that product as well before you produce something to replace it.

I FIRMLY believe apple HAS produced the 2012 iMacs, or are in the process of producing them.

This is based upon the fact that Apple Inventory for iMacs is unstable without precedence. Third party suppliers are going weeks with zero stock on some models, and other models have delayed shipping from Apple to resellers. Apples FLAGSHIP stores in NYC are on a daily basis running out of stock, and have to wait several days for restock. Normally each store has plenty in stock and gets new stock before they run out.

This tells us one very important thing: Apples production of 2011 iMacs have been greatly reduced, and are barely matching demands. This IS costing them sales, because customers are walking into resellers and Apple stores alike in vain.

Either Apple are reducing production of 2011 iMacs because they are replacing them with production of a 201x iMac, and are eager to sell out the 2011 model, or because they are stopping the production of iMacs altogether, which nothing seems to indicate.

Most likely the 2012 iMacs are ready from production or are very close to being ready, based on Kuos information from the supply chain and digitimes information from july, and then again from sept. This means they are waiting for a proper date to launch the new iMac. This will not happen before iphone 5 hype has settled, since the sheer surge of customers the stores are experiencing right now, will not be able to manage with another product.

All this seems, to me, to be the only logical conclusion to draw form the little information we have. It does not mean it is the absolute truth

How do you know they were 2011 iMacs?

WELL if they was 2012 imac, and they look exactly as old imac after more than 400 days .... this is a ****ing joke. it is a joke allrdy apple keep selling a 400 days outdated desktop with prehistoric functions.

that C64 boxed in my grandma's attic is prehistoric (it loads programs in 5 minutes or so from tapes.) that has prehistoric functions. I can load programs in less than a second on 2011 iMac and connect Thunderbolt devices to it. far from prehistoric.

you know there was this time, back in 2009 when Apple released Mac mini after almost 600 days of no update. guess what? it looked exactly like the 2007 model! omg, shocker, one wonders how they can still sell computers, right? RIGHT? it was so prehistoric with it's Core2Duo processor and dedicated (mobile) GPU. it also shipped with this ancient operating system called Leopard.

It was crazy times...

(it can run Mountain Lion, the latest operating system. I know because I own one.)
