that C64 boxed in my grandma's attic is prehistoric (it loads programs in 5 minutes or so from tapes.) that has prehistoric functions. I can load programs in less than a second on 2011 iMac and connect Thunderbolt devices to it. far from prehistoric.
you know there was this time, back in 2009 when Apple released Mac mini after almost 600 days of no update. guess what? it looked exactly like the 2007 model! omg, shocker, one wonders how they can still sell computers, right? RIGHT? it was so prehistoric with it's Core2Duo processor and dedicated (mobile) GPU. it also shipped with this ancient operating system called Leopard.
It was crazy times...
(it can run Mountain Lion, the latest operating system. I know because I own one.)
We live in twenty-first century.
Today is new, in 1 month is something we learn on history's books at school.
400 days in informatic's world is a generation.
Especially when you ask 1168 euro to 1800 euro for an imac.

My C64 loads programs in seconds thanks to the '1541 Ultimate'. The C64 is a big deal for many people who make music.
Please provide links to the "more concrete discussions about an upcoming iMac in 2013" than in 2012.
Apple never gave any forewarning about new releases, the only notable exception being the Mac Pro that is scheduled to be released in 2013.
As for the iMacs on stage, you say the were 2011 iMacs and not new ones, which incidentally nobody has seen and may very well share the same form factor.
Would you really be able to distinguish a 2010 iMac from a 2011 iMac from the distance in a small video? The 2009, 2010 and 2011 iMacs share the same case, so it's pretty much impossible to tell them apart just by looking at them (especially from the side in a video.)

What I don't understand is those who keep trying to persuade everyone that the 2011 iMac is good enough. There's a reason why we are here nagging about the new model...because we don't want to settle with old hardware. I'm not trying to persuades anyone to do the same. In fact I don't mind those buying the current. I just know I would not feel comfortable buying 500+ days old hardware knowing something new is on the horizon.
The annoying thing right now is that the iPhone is eating up every news blog around. No one has time to write anything about the iMac right now. It's frustrating. The tiny news about stock shortage and digitimes info from the assembly line at least held me warm while waiting. Now there's nada, nothing, zip...it's just frustrating. I wish I could fast forward through October so I could go back to my life without macrumors again... With or without a new iMac.
me and you sir think very alikeat least on some points.
Amen.Does anyone have still energy to persuade other forum members why we want 2012 iMacs? I mean most of us have pretty good grasp of computers and have good reason to wait for updated iMacs.
I need USB3 in my machine. Don't tell me USB2/FW800 is enough for me, I have good reason to choosing USB3 over other buses (including TB).

You both seem to share the delusion that there is some form of bandwidth limitation on rumours. The iPhone is news, but just because it's getting a lot of coverage doesn't mean that iMac rumours would not be reported. The reason we're not seeing iMac rumours is not because of the iPhone, it's because there are no rumours to be reported.

I bought a $500 mac mini to tide me over... It runs great - doesn't have what I want, but it puts an image on a screen and responds to user input
It will do until the new iMac comes out.
Skipped on it to see what October brings.

This is my first post here on MacRumors. I sold my mac pro 2008 a few months ago to buy a new Imac 2012. Bummer no new Imac yet. last weekend is decided i really need a new Imac so i went to the local Apple reseller and asked the question, buy a Imac 2011 or wait?
The guy told me, there is NO Imac coming this year, so if you really need a new Apple computer get an Imac 2011. So i said oke, but what if.....
Then the guy surprised me, he said ok, if there's a new Imac showing up in 2012 you can return your 2011 model and switch it for the 2012 version, he said, i can do this because i am sure there is no Imac coming this year.
So i bought an 2011 Imac with a written note in case......
Dunno how sure this guy is but im not confident about a 2012 model any-more.

What is it that you need in a 2012 iMac USB3? a retina screen? no optical drive?
Do you work for the "get rid of the trash" department at apple?![]()
I wish, then i would probably own the new 2012/2013 proto type.
