We are too close to october, and no good rumors yet. If it's not october, then I think the Possibility is weak for the rest of this year. That's worrisome.

I agree. I feel like a fool at this point.

All the rumor sites are far too busy posting the same iPhone stories over and over again they don't care or simply bother to ask their sources about the iMac I think that's also happening they just want to keep wacking off to the iPhone. So tired of this and so tired of waiting I wish there were at least some sort of reports or news but NOTHING! I'm starting to lose hope too

Maybe when Tim Cook said he was "doubling down" on secrecy, he was referring to Mac desktops. :)

I'm hoping tomorrow or the week after. I've been trying to get by with an SSD MBP laptop and external hard drive setup, but it's a pain managing the symbolic links for various things like iPhone backups and media databases. I just want an iMac with Flash storage standard, a huge hard drive, and USB 3.0.

I give Apple two more weeks...if there is no refresh after that, then I'm jumping off this hopeless and despairing bandwagon that is the iMac and probably getting on the happy and easy on the eye (no pun intended :D) rMBP. Everyone is busy masturIOSing to be focused on the abandoned iMacs. This wait is pitiful guys...it really is. I don't want to Hackintosh as i don't have time for fiddling and just need something that works out the box and won't get broken every time Apple issues an update. It's beginning to look more and more that 2012 won't behold a new iMac :(

Sad but true

Like I said in another post, the rumors have come to a grinding halt and the silence is deafening. Also, sellers and Apple stores have restocked the 2011 model which leads me to believe that Apple couldn't overcome their 2012 iMac refresh/manufacturing issues, therefore postponing the release indefinitely until possibly 2013.

I wouldn't based releases solely on stock if you notice only amazon got stock back and it has lion not mountain lion if they'd be getting the same batches as apple it'd have mountain lion so those are not newly made macs, also noticed that they are still out of the high end 27 inch iMac still. I'm starting to lose hope but not because of stock situation I think you shouldn't either

The iMac on sale now has an i5 processor. Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge, Haswell or Broadwell. They're all i5 processors.

To 90% of Apple computer buyers that's all they know and care about when shopping for a new Mac.

It will be tuesday or part of the iPad mini event. If you look at previous releases they are all on Tuesdays for the iMac.

I don't think we need to push the panic button just yet. Most rumors have pinpointed a late September or October release. So far we haven't reached October even, and the iPhone mayhem is still on. Give it a few more weeks. There's nothing changed that makes it less probable of a 2012 imac today than a week ago.

I was just looking at last year release there wasn't any part leaks however someone had told Brian tong and others a good solid timeframe but there wasn't any part numbers or leaked images. The interesting part of all was that last years imac was introduced 5/3 I hope apple wants to repeat (somewhat) history and release the iMacs 10/2. I hope apple does the same and releases the 2012 iMac the first week of a new month. However I know is not gonna happen because that's what I want apple to do therefore they would do otherwise AS ALWAYS.

Also I have a question. Do Mac minis usually ships faster than iMacs ? Because I selected a Mac mini to check the stock status and it showed that the Mac mini will delver about a week before than the iMacs. Is this usually the case? Or is apple secretly delaying iMacs ?

I need it soon!

My wife needs a new computer for school and she wants to go with the iMac over a MBP/MBA. I have a 2010 MBP and love it, but she doesn't need portability and of course I wouldn't mind a nice AIO desktop :)

The problem is that she wants/needs it NOW and I have been telling her since July that the 2012's will be out any day! It better come out soon, and I don't care if it has retina display. An SSD would be sweet but I don't want them to kill off the optical drive as I will want to run Win7 on boot camp.

I am hoping it's coming tomorrow and if not, the beginning of October!

I just saw on QVC - that's a TV shopping channel for those outside of the USA - they were selling iPads for $1,069- .

They're flying off the shelves for that price.

Hehe one can always hope, but I don't think apple plans dates like that. And hope doesn't usually go well with apples release schedule, from my experience.

About leaking parts and such, it has never happened on the Mac side of apple from as far as I can remember. The only visual leak I've ever seen is the Mac mini box with photo of 5usb's, which people had problems believing a few years back. Even when apple redesigned the iMac in 2009 and the 27" was introduced there were no leaks. Even then it had only been rumors such as those we have this time around all up until the last day when part numbers were leaked about 24 hours before launch. Apart from that the leaks have been very few. This even includes the laptops. Even look at the rMBP, nobody actually knew if that was true until the the WWDC keynote. And 9to5mac got the spec info only a day ahead. So we have nothing else to go on than the rumors we've got so far, which indicates October 2012. And the fact that Cook corrected their statement of 2013 mp/iMac release. And probably we won't hear much more until the day it's announced.
Of course there is a chance we won't see anything at all this year, but it hasn't been the what rumors has said - and so I choose to rely on what we know so far rather than pessimism. The only thing I've read so far that was a bit dis assuring was digitimes note that there was no actual timeline plan of release date for the 27" because of low yields. But then again, it's digitimes (we all know how their track record is) and the week after they had a different story, telling that it was the low end model that had been delayed :) so taking digitimes info with a pile of salt is probably a good idea.

I would say if she needs it now then buy the current. She probably doesn't need to do heavy computing anyway. If you have the chance to wait 2-3 weeks then its probably a good idea, but there's no guarantee there will be an update - only speculation from experienced speculators ;).

What do iPad have anything to do with imac release dates ? Am i missing something ? Or you are in the wrong thread

Apple is moving little cereal box surprise toys for over a thousand dollars

Why should Apple care if they ever sell another iMac? Dope dealers stoned on their own supply can't imagine making profit like that.

The iPad factories are like small cities. The workers do twelve hour shifts at less than two dollars an hour. Thirty thousand workers per shift. 24 hours a day.

The profits boggle the mind.

I know everyone of you will attack me for that, but actually I'm thinking that maybe I should wait for Haswell anyway ... it's just stupid, I know : I prolly won't do it, but the more I wait, the more I feel I can wait even more (I will switch from a Windows laptop that has served me quite well for 3 years, I'm pretty sure it can serve me for another 6-12 months)

It's not a terrible move. Unless the next update is 500+ days away from the 2012 imac ^^

The lack of ethics and what Apple has become boggle the mind.

They could pay them 3 times that and it would still be dodgy and they'd still make billions.
