still no new iMac news? It's almost tuesday ;)

not much more news to write I guess. Rumor sites have no reason to write another "release is imminent" kind of post, it´s been done too many times without any substance....so unless something more concrete comes up we probably won´t hear anything more until 1-2 days before the release.
Since we haven´t heard anything about leaked model numbers or anything, one could assume we won´t see anything this tuesday either....as every other tuesday since I started waiting in early spring :(

I´ve really learned a few things this time around waiting for an apple product. Either you buy one model the round before you really start waiting for it, or you ditch apple as your main computer. Because the company is completely unreliable when it comes to computer updates these days.

I think it's going to be either the 16th or the 23th, because that'd be one full month just dedicated to the iPhone buzz also it seems (at least to me) the most probable, however I wish it was tomorrow. The good thing is that it's already October and we have less than 30 days to wait for the iMacs so let's keep it calm we waited all this long and were so close so let's just looks at the bright side for once.

I wouldnt hold out for those dates. Apple has to release the iPad mini at the end of the October and I'm not sure they woul want to release new macs at that event?

Well, as we've said before, 23rd is almost certainly going to be the quarterly results call and they won't announce anything then. I would guess that they would want to announce before that so they could give analysts guidance for next quarter. Of course, just a guess.

Apple HAS TO??? Really since when was the iPad mini a certain thing? And why can't apple have an event for both? Apple is gonna hold an entire event for iPad mini what is there to talk about much beside the smaller size ? So a 15min event I don't think so. I'm not so certain that the iMacs will happen at that event but its just the 2nd and the 9th seem to close to the iPhone buzz. Idk it's just a guess based on what I see right now but like said before I'd wish they be release today for all I care

It was also thought that apple wouldn't release Nanos and Touches when they announced the iPhone 5 ... but Apple did. :apple:

The iPad Mini isn't really worth an event by itself is it?

"introducing iPad Mini. It's smaller and has a lower resolution. Oh and one more thing, it has an amazing lightening connector. Thanks for coming folks."

Preface that with sales data:

We sold a bunch of iP5's
We're working on apple maps

I moved 50GB of pictures off of my main computer (only had 14GB left) and am digging in for the long haul. Seems like it might be awhile or, they will just surprise everyone and have new products in stores without saying much ahead of time.

ohhhh mannn,
I've been holding off from upgrading my computer (HP core 2 duo 2.1Ghz, 4GB, 320GB). i was hoping for the imac since April. even when Dell announced the XPS 8500, i still said lets wait for the iMac.

dell recently had many deals for quad core i7 + 16GB ram + 2TB HDD + Bluray + 23+" displays for under $1500. now its gone and i'm still waiting for the iMac.

I dont know how much longer i can wait. the thought about keeping windows 7/8 for the next 2/3 years probably is keeping my hopes up. I really want to make the switch to Mac OS, sooooon.

this way i will have both of my ipads and iphone fully synced with my computer.

ohhh the waiting, Apple sucks for making us wait this long...........

I know. Hence more products to announce. Each address has to cover how awesome the company is doing. Even if its only been a month since the last state of the company info. I hope our wait will be fruitful this month (Oct).

Apple last year back to the Mac event was October 20th I think we should put our bet for around that date for the iMacs like I said before the 16th or 23th seem like the date if they are going to be doing an event

Mum and bro's PC's just died. They wanna switch from Win to Apple in our family run business. Problem is, they want iMac's and Apple are due to refresh them soon! They want advice from me...what to do?!

There has been 0 rumors about a potential refresh of the iMac. It's not going to happen. Your family biz. Will run great on a 2011 model.

Such a pain in the ass though huh. It's been 517 days since Apple last updated the iMac! CRAZY! Wasn't there a digitimes report from last month suggesting that iMac's were imminent and delays were only because of low yields for retina screens? Fam have been holding off on getting Mac's for ages due to the 2012 iMac's. But you're both right. Business should come first.

... Because the company is completely unreliable when it comes to computer updates these days.

Uh, no. Unreliable means somebody said they would do something and they didn't do it. Unreliable doesn't mean you guessed somebody might do something and they didn't do it.

Apple has made no promises to us. If you expected them to do something then that's on you.

Get on Craigslist and get a used Intel Mac Mini or two. They should cost maybe $400 each for reasonably recent models with good amounts of memory and hard drive space. Your mom and brother can re-use their monitors and other peripherals. Unlike PCs, it's pretty easy to transfer all your stuff from one Mac to the other, so if they ultimately decide to get iMacs then it shouldn't be a big deal at all to switch. Plus, you can re-sell the Mac Minis on Craigslist and probably almost break even. I've sold two MacBooks on Craigslist for more money that I paid for them. Apple products hold their value extremely well.

Uh yes, unreliable for those of us who need to feel we can plan our computer purchases. I don't say "they" said anything, but this is why we try to read into historical data and have sites like macrumors buyers guide. When apple completely break out of a traditional timeframe they've had for years on a product, it feels unreliable for a customer - and I don't know what to make of it except being less secure next time I'm gonna buy an iMac.

Thanks. Awesome advice.

Dilemma

gutted.,....pc decided to die on friday..... had to make decision.....2011 mac (my first mac) or new pc or get old one repaired.

I couldn't bring my self to part with cash for 2011 model.....didnt really want to fork out for new pc when i desprate for the imac...so got old pc fixed - £300 sorted out new hard drive, data transfer and RAM upgrade and a couple of other tweeks....old machine is running like new now and i love it!!

Still want the imac - but dont mind the wait now as pc is now running better than ever!!

I don't tink Apple can hold for longher a new iMac or a upgrade iMac, simply because Intel is no longer making the old cipset and CPU so they are forced to do it
:D

Really? Can you post the place where this is actually written?I believe you,i'm just curious.
By the way As Mac Pro then.
We just have to wait patiently ( again.. ) for 2011 stocks to end.
I hope this is the case as i hope the stocks are not far from their end.
ps.I'm in Tuscany as well.
