Same here in the Netherlands, the iMacs even become more expensive because the change in VAT from 19 to 21%.
So old hardware becoming more expensive for us.

Broer! Same here in Italy. It was €1149 when it was introduced in May 2011, it went to €1158 in September 2012 when VAT was increased from 20% to 21%. Do you have any refurb iMacs in the Dutch store?

No refurbs in the Dutch store, we just have to buy a new one for the full prize. (plus the extra 2% now) pay more get less, nice motto!

People common, you all now that the streetlights need to burn at night. No complaining about taxes, also this has nothing to do with Apple. Just barking up the wrong tree.

For what is't worth, europe has decent Apple pricing IMO.

BTW, the same Mega Order™ on the Italian store yields shipping times of 1-3 business days, with delivery between Oct 15-17 (standard shipping) and Oct 11-17 (express shipping.)

Wow, I wonder why we get them then. Italy's always been the province of the empire for Apple...

True, but it adds up — pun intended — to the fact that it makes less and less economic sense to buy a 2011 iMac today...

You think so,
Dutch iMac €1931 = 1931*1.3=$ 2510
USA iMac $1999

that's a 500 USD difference........
that is not decent in my opinion

sadly guys i have to report that i have give up on the imacs because no update made me re-evaluate what i want/ need and its now basically a 13 mbp or a 15 mbp for reasons below

the rMBP seem to be giving lot of screen issues
rMBP cost
rMBP not easily upgradable apparently
not a biggy but no dvd drive

with the 13 i get 8gb + 2.9 dual i7 £1249

with the 15 i get quad core i7 + nvidia graphics £1499

either HDD is bigger than i need and will probably become 256 ssd anyway so no difference

so £250 for nvidia and quad core but less RAM which like ssd is easily added

which do you think, cause i am buying this in the next 2 weeks

are the prices on the usa apple store the actual end price you guys pay or are there any added state tax or such like etc

i am about to buy 15 mbp @ £1499 or $2400 but it is $1799 on apple usa so that is $600 more expensive

but if i ship it it will cost almost that with postage and customs

I believe the $1999 is before taxes. In the US prices are ex Tax at least it is such online.

I think you are making a very solid case here! One that I myself could consider.

I don't understand, it still says shipping oct 16 for me. both norway and us. Even for standard models. For me this is an indication. Maybe its not like this everywhere but its somewere, meaning they are nearly out of stock.

U.S. prices are always quoted excluding tax, partly because it lets shops advertise cheaper prices and partly because the tax isn't known until the shop knows exactly where you live so it can apply the appropriate tax - and it isn't required to apply the tax unless it has a physical presence in that location. Sales tax varies by both State and by City. If you add 7% to the price that would get you around the national average, but some people pay 9.5% and some pay 0%...

I'm seeing this too. Saying "In Stock" but then the shipping estimate being 8 days later means something. Not sure what, though. Perhaps there's another batch but it's held up in customs in China, or perhaps they really are clear for a launch soon.

In NL they reserve 1-3days to make unit ready for shipping...Today is 08.10.2012 so if you add 3days it is 11.10.2012 So day for delivery is or Friday 12.10.2012 or Monday 16.10.2012
This 3days is added only if you change something like if you add extra memory they will add 3days for preparing...

Maybe this is the case as well for USA and Norway.
