I will preface this with I REALLY HOPE I AM WRONG. Unfortunately I have a feeling that we won't see them till next year. It's really a drag. I, like a lot of you, have been waiting for a long time. My bet is an entire desktop line refresh in mid to late 2013. Like I said I hope I am wrong, because that would be a BIG bummer. I guess at this point I am slightly jaded.

So you expect them to keep stocks like this until then ? And lose the entire resellers segment ?

I agree its possible... but do people really think this is probable ?

They'd lose so many customers that they'd better not make desktops anymore ...

Last March did we think it was probable that a 2012 model iMac would be held off till October? Like i said, I don't want to be correct.

Nono, but 3rd party resellers weren't empty on stock. This is the single biggest argument that the status Quo isnt working.

Either the 2011 hit a production problem ? (why would they for a product they've been making for prolly 2 years) or they are selling out of stock.

If it's the former, then yes, there will not be a 2012 imac.

Maybe, but we all said that after no release in June. Then July. Then August then September. It's now October and we have the ipad mini, and 13 mbpR launches on the horizon. I just don't think its likely for so many launches in such a short period of time.

the 13" rMBP is as unlikely this year as the iMac. In fact I would say even less. We haven´t seen anything confirming yet about it and apple had the release f macbooks this summer.

As long as Apple has stock (Retail + Online stores) it's a non-issue. It's not like you MUST go to WalMart or whatever to buy an iMac; especially in the US, Apple Stores are everywhere... not so much on this side of the ocean, but the online store does have stock. :\

What we're trying to debate here is if the US Apple on line stores have longer delays compared to the usual ones : actually it seems so ...

Yes US has all in stock in the shops as well

But check the delivery to rome ?

"Consegna — 12 Ott, 2012 con Spedizione standard" not super fast is it :) although not as bad as the 16th in US :p

If they are shipped from Cork (Ireland), I'd say it's pretty standard. When I last bought something from the Apple Store, a 2009 MBP, it took 3 or 4 days to be delivered and it was shipped from Cork.

Yeps, but 18 - 22 Ottobre is not normal as we're at least 10 days before : is there any Irish holyday ? When is it St Patrick's Day again ? :D

I put all four iMacs in the cart, and I still get Oct 12 with standard shipment and Oct 11 with express shipment, for the whole thing all delivered together...
(Changing the CAP has no effect whatsoever, I tried a few)

Hy guys I don't mean to be a party pooper but the late delivers don't mean anything there's a little delay because the holiday if you go and choose two day shipping instead of the free you can see that it'd ship the normal date now if we were to order one and choose 2 day shipping or next day shipping and it showed a delay then most definitely something's going on but it doesn't seem like it. Just being realistic here

Look's like there will be an announcement soon about the new imac's .
Comet in the uk had the 2011 machine on sale and in stock up to yesterday.
Just checked today and they are now out of stock .

Are you talking about 27"? coz, I ordered mine on 30th of Sep Sunday and they didn't have a single unit in stock. All across UK. Their main warehouse had none in stock either. I am still waiting for any delivery date confirmation.

It's like you go to restaurant, they serve the place, knife and fork and even take money. While no sign of food. The wait gets worse after you order one. I don't care about new model as 3.1 is enough for me. My views on Apple is going negative every day I have to wait for stock. Another week and I am canceling my order and moving to Windows.:mad::mad::mad:

Just order from Apple itself ? wtf >.<

Sure, if apple online store gives me £1649 model for £1349 like Comet (UK) I bloody will!!!!

Why the hell they have all these iMacs on display in stores if they can't keep the bloody stock up??? I can understand if they don't have stock for few weeks but at least give some kind of explanation or indication on when they will be back in stock.

:apple: Apple get the fingers out of your iArse and sort this mess out!!!

Because it's Apple that decides when and how to restock independent shops. I was explained this by a clerk in an Italian chain (similar to Comet): the shop tells Apple "we're out", but Apple won't tell them how many units are shipping or when. They're as deep in the dark as the rest of us, and Apple Premium Resellers aren't in a much better situation.
So the culprit is Apple, not Comet or whoever else :)

I'm guessing if the iMac was going to be updated tomorrow we would have at least seen some rumors today. Guess we can kiss goodbye to that idea.

You can't rule it out, but I agree that it doesn't look as promising as I would like.

So what can we infer from this?

Nothing at all. All these low stock reports are expected. People are waiting for a refresh. There is not going to be a lot of surplus stock in general.

How can we get a comment from Apple like the one about the Mac Pro "later in 2013"?
