Sure, if apple online store gives me £1649 model for £1349 like Comet (UK) I bloody will!!!!

Why the hell they have all these iMacs on display in stores if they can't keep the bloody stock up??? I can understand if they don't have stock for few weeks but at least give some kind of explanation or indication on when they will be back in stock.

:apple: Apple get the fingers out of your iArse and sort this mess out!!!

Haha ok :) good luck with that.

Wait for Tim Cook at 1 Infinite Loop, corner him and try to get an answer out of him before they arrest you?

this.

I really doubt there will ne iMacs tomorrow. Im more intrested in wtf will happen to the stock thingy, since that might give us a clue about next week.

Because it's Apple that decides when and how to restock independent shops. I was explained this by a clerk in an Italian chain (similar to Comet): the shop tells Apple "we're out", but Apple won't tell them how many units are shipping or when. They're as deep in the dark as the rest of us, and Apple Premium Resellers aren't in a much better situation.
So the culprit is Apple, not Comet or whoever else :)

There's machines available directly with Apple. The rest is consumer choice. And quite frankly I am getting bored with all that whining. We're here patiently (less so lately) waiting for the 2012, and this is a 2012 thread so don't give a monkeys what people decide to do to save a few pennies or how to finance their purchase. There's a massive thread elsewhere this pages focussing on "I have just ordered an iMac". Go whine there

Something to perhaps get everyone a little pumped as its Mac news... Appleinsider just posted this (Mac Mini Refresh looming)

Unbelievable! That article is pretty much saying what we've been saying on here and I think we have all concluded we are clueless. These guys get paid to be more clued and they stick stuff like that our!? To rub salt into the wound, we have also concluded on here that supply chain squeezes mean absolutely jack for desktop releases in this cycle. We have seen them dry up and re-appear then dry up some more so many times since April. So they really are meaningless and should not be relied upon as an indicator or an imminent refresh

My Discover Card is ready to go with 5% cash back via online shopping this quarter so bring on the iMacs!

lol, from what I read on this thread and other like this, it seems there are more and more people whining about this outrageous ignorance of all iMac fans by Apple. And £300 might be few pennies for you but not for most of us.

And as for consumer choice? what choice? see my point?

LOL they even say it in their article. The iMac has had limited supply since July but still no update? So why are they posting this garbage about Mac Mini.

Just to show how pointless stock is I looked at the refreshed Macbook Air which is not looking for a release and Amazon only had limited stock! haha

the mac mini article at apple insider is just a filler article. THey have nothing better to write about and they cannot make YET another article about iMac supplies drying up, they have all ready made a few.

And yet it all makes perfect sense.....the last kick in the teeth before Apple finally mashes your lights out forever with the EOL baseball bat.

You just know it's going to happen.

It does feel that way. Even if it is not, the 18mo to 2+ years update schedule is a slap in the face. I wish they would just make up their minds and either get rid of it and get it over with, or plan timely updates like the rest of the world.

I've been following this thread since the first post and finally decided it was time to add my two cents. Even registered to post a reply :p

What I've come to gather on rumors and timelines, the situation to me seems to be the following (including a little bit of wishful thinking, obviously...):

iMacs should have been refreshed some time during the summer season, roughly between May and late July. Due to the display lamination issues however, the refresh has been delayed into september/october. Kuos timeline regarding seperate releases of 21,5" and 27" versions didn't feel right to me since the very first moment I had a look at his timeline, so I wasn't surprised when there was no release of the 21,5" iMac with the iPhone event or around that time in September.

It seems, Apple has had display supply issues for every product they have released or planned to release in the last few months. Shortages and low yields wherever one looks, so maybe these issues somehow fall in line with the lamination problems we all read about.

Regarding the stock shortages encountered since around June, this makes perfect sense to me if we keep in mind Apples intention to refresh during the summer months. This is why I believe these shortages do tell that there is a refresh coming; they simply "adjust" to the delay Apple is forced to deal with. Also we have had rumors about supplies shipping some time mid September. If these are to be considered legit, the only reason to not release the refreshed iMacs is - once again - the screen issue.

Of course with the new iPhone "getting in the way" there actually might be another delays with shipping capacities, so we may have to keep that in mind, too.

So my guess is: iMac refresh in mid to late October, as soon as everything is ready and spotlight has moved off the iPhone a little.

Concerning iPad Mini: With new benchmarks of an A6 iPad, I tend to wish that the rumored Ocotber event will not unveil the iPad mini, as it may be released together with the - now how does one have to put it? - "new new iPad" (you folks know what I mean :D) in 2013, fitting the annual timeframe. Instead: iMacs, rMPB 13", together with iTunes. This would also give us a nice overall theme for that keynote.

As I said: My two cents, including some wishful thinking :D

Oh, and one more thing: Its my birthay on October 16th, so come on Apple, bring them iMacs!! :D

Does Thunderbolt have enough bandwidth to run a 27" retina display at 60Hz?

Asking because I would be surprised if a rMac is released without a corresponding rCD.

Not pixel-doubled from the current resolution. Thunderbolt would support 4K (which is Retina at 27") but not 5120x2880.

Reymond Wong from BGR says this to me " i'm not sure desktops are a priority for apple anymore. it's all macbook pros and airs. iPads and iPhones." Ok thanks .....if this is the case then why doesn't apple let their costumes know this. Tell us look elsewhere because we're not gonna make those anymore or were gonna stop selling desktops. This mentality is killing me. Since when are desktops completely obsolete I don't need portability why should I pay for it ? So why? So if I want something like a desktop you'll charge me 1k for the bigger display? [...]. Give the display bigger display for free then if you're saying that's the new way of desktops. Apple is pissing me off

Most of the time we'd have a corroborating clue by now if it were coming tomorrow. So while it ain't over until the sun rises once again, it's looking unlikely. Next we wait for the invitations that are supposed to be sent on the 10th and see if we can infer anything meaningful from them.

Im just going to state that apple cant obsolete desktop computers especially the iMac. There is no way apple can survive off a laptop/notebook devices.

The only thing I really want from the new iMac is a Nvidia 680m with 1gb of video memory and a stock i7 cpu. All for under £1,500 might not happen but im kinda basing this off the current macbook pros :p But even a 675m would please me. Not really bothered about retina.

Im guessing the 26th of October release but this week or next week would be great :D

If we don't see an update this month, I doubt we'll see one until the release of Intel's Haswell processors which are expected on June of 2013..

It wouldn't make much sense for Apple to update the iMac with Ivy-Bridge processors in early 2013.. And since this is the only month we'll see an Apple Event, I'm pretty sure this month is the only time we can expect an update..

But when you think about it the difference between Sandybridge & Ivy-Bridge isn't really significant (except with onboard GPU), so that might also be a possible reason we haven't seen an update yet..
