full compliment of refurbs in the uk store http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/specialdeals/mac/imac/27 so apple aren't short of them. Sorely tempted by a 27 inch imac i7 with 256gb ssd for £1,879.00 add on a 3tb seagate thunderbolt drive, cable and applecare adds up to a good saving over buying new. No! No! be firm for another 2 weeks:confused: the new one will probably have twice the size ssd and usb 3 for cheap fast storage

yeah wait it out. I assume you don't actually 'need' it right now. More of a want thing. Never let your temptations get in the way of want when there is something new just around the corner.

I wonder why there are so few all in ones with high end mobile gpus like a gtx 680m or a hd7970...

If its about the power of gpu, the iMac is still the most powerfull all in one with its 6970m. Except that fugly small aio some1 posted here before.

Why are there so few alternatives when it comes to power in gpu? :(

I don't think there is going to be a 2012 iMac.
1) its not going to come out today
2) invitations will be sent out for the iPad mini event so no iMac can be released all this and next week
3) I doubt it will be released with the iPad mini as its a new idevice
4) it will then be to close to iPad mini as apple are rumored to ship 10 million.
5) it will then be mid November and be too close to christmas so no 2012 imac.

wait wait wait.

1) who knows... (okay you might be right)
2) yeah hope so. but:
3) I doubt, that they will hold an event just for ONE device - didn't see that one happen for a long time
4) there have been many products launched at the same time
5) mid november much to late and the iMac isn't really much a holidaygift product. talking about professional users

lower stocks might be a good sign. Talking about if there will be a new iMac:
If not, I am absolutely sure that apple will explain why so and even come along with a better (awesome innovative or intelligent) solution. You really think they don't care about their pro users anymore? No... sorry.

EDIT: can't buy refurb macs in germany.

Actually, yes. I do. I don't think they view pro users as a priority in any way.

They should have already done the explaining if so.

Funny - there were no iMac refurbs a couple of weeks ago when I looked

Remember when apple introduced the macbook air without DVD-drive? The explained over 20minutes why you won't need it and why without is a better solution. When they change something, they explain why. Might be late now, okay, I don't think they would discontinue Pro lines. With all the creatives using it, (especially moviemakers and animators) they would make big profit.

They should have already done the explaining if so.
Amen to that. Only excuse: the current iMacs are crazy machines

Hi, I work at an official Apple Store in Italy.
Today we finished all iMac 21.5.
it is very strange that we have not been stocked.

hobbling along on a 2006 17 inch macbook pro which is running out of memory all the time, I've upgraded it and stuck in an ssd which has helped and downgraded snow leopard. I can only run a couple of apps at a time and it freezes up on me. I've been waiting patiently since feb.

Wait for a new iMac they said..
Its just around the corner they said..:p

Maybe the refurbs are them selling off various excess show models etc, as there hasn't been refurbs up for weeks.

Today or really soon.
Here in Greece stock on all big electronic stores are running very very low. Just a few pieces here and there.
I will have to buy something within 2012 so I am getting worried that if they will not update soon I will not be able to find a 2011 version to buy as well.

That might just have something to do with the fact no one wants to lend Greece any money anymore... ;)

Since we're playing the stocks game, here's the situation in Italy for what it's worth: still no iMac or Mac Mini refurbs at all here. Last night there was just one base 27-inch, the only one in weeks, and now it's gone.
Full-price units are quickly available on the Apple Online Store, with Oct 15 standard delivery and Oct 12 express delivery.

The Apple Store app for iOS reports these availabilities for each Store (you can 'reserve' the units for 24 hours):
Bergamo - full stock
Bologna - full stock except base 27"
Brescia - full stock except base 27"
Caserta - full stock
Catania - full stock except base 27"
Firenze - full stock except base 27"
Milano 1 - full stock
Milano 2 - full stock except high-end 21.5"
Roma 1 - full stock
Roma 2 - full stock except base 21" and base 27"
Torino 1 - full stock except base 27"
Torino 2 - no stock whatsoever

I'm not sure how to interpret this data.

let's assume there IS a new imac about to be released, what happens to the "old" imacs? Are they sold via refurb directly by apple or do the respective shops get rid off them making "special offers"?

Problem is stock is almost non existing...

So lets hope Apple will provide...

1. New iMac (refreshed, updated, totally new)
or
2. Restock with model from 2011

I prefer option 1 but hey lets wait and see....

I'd say that third-party resellers will get rid of existing stock via special offers and the like, whereas Apple will sell them as refurb. Not sure about Apple Premium Resellers here in Europe.

525 days since an update for the iMac and 390 days since the last update for the apple display is way too long...

I have been waiting since the end of May and will wait till the end of October and then I will buy whatever can fulfill my needs. I need USB 3 and a Computer that will last me the next 4 or more years!

Come on apple do something already!

in the betters shop in italy(unieuro, euronics, saturn, mediaworld)the imac isn't in the online store...everybody say"not avaiable"

i hope in a soon refresh,c'mon apple..why you don't say when your products release?i hate this politic..people wait and wait and pray god..

To relieve the pain of waiting, I just bought myself an :apple: iPhone 5. And it arrives soon because they had it in stock. :D

Sorry for some kind of OT..

I did the same exact same the day they launched, however took it back to Apple a week later for full refund. Really bad battery and heating up issues. Back with my trusty iPhone 4 for the moment. Calling by Apple store this afternoon as I am in town. Hopefully a new iPod Touch will be resistible enough LOL

Surely not long now :)

Oct 9 is officially a wash. My crystal ball missed. Ah, such is life.

As strange as it sounds, a big-bang launch (where some or all of the products are shown at the event) is now the most plausible. Get ready to take a microscope to the invitations when they come out.

I'm thinking that the ipad mini launch is the only time left. I dont think they would be released after.

A slightly redesigned iMac and 13inch retina macbook pro are quite big updates (more than just a spec bump) so i think that we now have a release date. The 17th October.
