Been without a Mac since June when my c. 2006 MBP 17" died. Been part of the Mac faithful since the early 1980s.

The wait is excruciating...

Where did you dig that one out? It's a pure comedy goldmine, just read the about the author section on the bottom:

"John Martellaro was born at an early age and..."

I think him being born at an early age explains a lot. I have a cousin who was born at an early age as well, and there is no joking with that guy.

What a coincidence! I was also born at an early age!

So iPhone event invites were reported by just after 9am... 13 hours to go and we will see if anything is going to happen or not! I cant see Apple missing the holiday shopping season with the iPad mini, so im quite confident of an event soon, fingers crossed!

Don't care too much about the iPad mini, in my opinion is a pointless products but then again not everyone has the same needs as me. I'm just hoping we the iMac at that event because I just can't believe apple would do this to us.

The went invitations today are also just a rumor. I blinking hope they go out with a "lets talk iMac" but I am really doubtful...

Fingers crossed and a lot of mac rumors checking all day. Uk here and it's 7.19 am

Haha yeah dream on! :D
I think the iPad mini will be a "one more thing" it will be all about iMacs.

Actually, I think it will say something like: "so you think you won the waiting game?"

Just by interest (and to kill time):

what do you wish for the new iMac? What are your expectations, specs, design blabla... Retina?

And then the screen will show just a hand with a middle finger as maniacal laughter echoes through the auditorium and Beck takes the stage to rock through the opening chords of "Loser"

And then they announce the New iMac which is just an iPhone 5 without display build on the back of a Cinema Display.

Twist: The iPad mini is the new iMac. You have to buy at least 8 of them and 8 adapters. You can connect them all together and make any size you want.

Yeah by now they could just as we'll say the current is the new and I would be at peace...just knowing that something new isn't coming around the corner before buying one.

It simpy has to get updated some time VERY SOON. If you look at the buyer's guide, all the ipods and iphone were updated, the macbooks are ony midcycle yet the imac, the mini and the pro are COMPLETELY outdated. It has to be their turn. If they don't release a new imac by the end of this year I'll be really pissed because it shows that they don't care about their customers at all. Money money money!

Just want to give a shout out to all you guys who keep this thread moving and the spirits high - you made my mornings, afternoons, and evenings since a couple of weeks ... whether it be discussing grammar, the early born stage, or yes, I almost forgot, isn't there also this rumor/tumor about this iMac thing?

So great respect to everyone despite this ****** up policy from apple. You simply cannot say "apple does not owe you anything". It's all about reliability! I rely on their machines to get the work done. Since years they used to refresh their desktops at least once a year. Now they break out of this cycle without any explanation to their customers who are of course not willing to buy outdated tech with their hard earned money. That is just a rip off! Now if you think, oh well, that's all okay with me, since Apple is your God, and the thoughts of God are not our human thoughts, and so you think it is all good if you cannot follow, I simply cannot follow.

On another line, has anyone try to build hackintosh Dell XPS One 27"? This would be a good replacement for my 2006 iMac I guess.

Cheers,
Hans

I think you'll find also that the people who have the above attitude are pretty much never original Apple users from back in the day.

It's the same with glossies (no coincidence that it is the pro-demographic that need and want matte options) - mention it and all you'll get is 'stop whining' and, even more stupidly, "Apple is a company which exists to make a profit so shut up".

It is no coincidence that these characters are in the main the ones who came to Apple with the iToy kool-aid.

The real problem though is that Apple sees them as their consumer base now and has cut the pros loose.

There's a simple solution though - all Apple has to do is address it. Just say it: we are from now on a gadget company.

That's all it takes - some honesty. Then we'll all know where we stand, we can explore other options and, in time, someone will be able to address the niche Apple has abandoned. It's that simple.....the only bottleneck is Apple.

The bottleneck is not Apple. If you feel like Apple has abandoned you start looking elsewhere.

Exactly what I said in my post you are replying to - well, actually I forgot the 'look elsewhere' trope but that's only because I generally disregard it as being a bit silly as there's nowhere else to look - I just knew there'd be one along to weigh in ...I just knew it.

I would say 'God, I'm good' but in this case it is oh so predictable.
