Polite request

Can all of the comedians who seem to find it hilarious posting fake links and pics do us all a favour please?

STOP. JUST STOP

It's not that we don't appreciate it - it's just we can't stop laughing and there's been a few cases of people being hospitalized and even losing their jobs because it's all just too funny.

Thanks.

Phew.. I'm glad I didn't stir up a havoc right there. Though if it was real, I'm sure we'd all immediately start a riot and go burn all the 2011 iMacs in the stores.

Anyways... next big date? 9th is dead... 10th is dead, so 17th is consequently dead. :(

Having no Apple baggage to declare, I'm not driven by historic behaviour etc and remain convinced that the time around the launch of Windows 8 is central to anything Apple do or say re the iMac. Not surprised that we don't know of anything, and in that respect, it must point to a spec upgrade and nothing more - otherwise there'd be leaks of new parts/components etc. I simply can't see the 8 launch happening, without Apple (and Google for that matter) having something to say about it.

Think 8 launches on the 26th, so expect something around then. May also include the mini iPad, as I have no doubt that Surface will need to be counteracted.

An event on a Wednesday ? That should have put a bit of suspicion on the fact that the invitations news was a fake ...

Remember the 12th of September? I think, there's no deeper logic behind the choice of the weekdey on which Apple hold events. It could be every day except, honestly, fridays. :)

They did it on the 12th because introducing a device for the greedy masses on the anniversary of 9/11 would have looked inappropriate at best.
But yeah, events have been held on other days too. Either way I'm getting quite tired of all of this. If refurbs were on the Italian store right now, I'd probably order one. I'd save myself some sanity and €179 on the base 21.5".

Digitmes mentions the imac in the components delay article today, but doesn't elaborate:

Component makers preparing for new Apple products
Aaron Lee, Taipei; Joseph Tsai, DIGITIMES [Thursday 11 October 2012]

Shipments of Apple's new products – a Retina Display 13-inch MacBook Pro, 7.85-inch iPad and iMac – have reportedly been delayed from September to October and with the year-end holidays approaching, the upstream supply chain is aggressively preparing for expected strong orders in both October and November, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.

The shipment delay is said to have been caused by weak yields of the Retina Display, the sources noted.

Apple's new small-size iPad (iPad Mini), which is manufactured by Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) and Pegatron Technology, a reportedly suffering low yields for components such as the display and chassis, causing the upstream suppliers to be unable to satisfy Apple's orders.

The sources pointed out that although the iPad Mini's chassis adopts a similar material as the 9.7-inch model, the iPad Mini's design and tactile feel will be different from those of the larger model.

Apple's strong orders are expected to benefit its upstream partners including Foxconn, Quanta Computer, Pegatron, Simplo, Dynapack, Shin Zu Shing (SZS), Jarlly, Catcher, Foxconn Tech, Auras, Furukawa, AcBel and Foxlink, and these players are also preparing for the orders.

So sick of digitimes bogus info which changes details every time. Strong sale in October, how can that happen when we are allready in mid October without any clear indication on what is going on. I'm sure another Tuesday will pass next week and then one more...

Thanks for posting though. But it proves nothing more than what's been said over and over. I wonder what sort of mayhem we will experience here in november or if everyone have just given up by then and nothing more is said. :( I'm so tired of all this, I don't understand why I bother.

I just set up a windows 8 machine, to see what I get for half of the iMacs price - just for fun. i7 latest and greatest, 690 GeForce, 1tb ssd a 1tb hdd, bluray burner, 32gb ram, etc etc ... With a apple Cinema Display I would still pay less than a top BTO iMac. I'm ok paying more for iMacs looks, OSX and the fact that its apple. But this just is beyond ridiculous. Apple is shamelessly selling OLD hardware for Premium prices - it hardly makes sense at all unless they are able to keep up with competition.

time to update your signature then ;) Building that machine for fun you must have a lot of money lol. If nothing in October I will probably build something similar to you. I was hoping to have an AIO for once but the only AIO i will accept is the iMac. FFFF Apple!

What machine and from where?

Not really a rumor about imacs. More of a mention. I wish they would have elaborated on what parts are slow for the imac although we have heard before it was display related. I just wish we knew what was coming so we could stop worrying about it. I really wish Apple would rethink this idiotic secrecy policy. Ironically, it only seems to work on desktops which apparently not many people are interested in anymore. Where is doesn't work at all are in iStuff where I can actually see the benefit of such policies.

Even if Apple confirms that imac is coming, that will only open the discussion for new threads like "which tuesday will Apple announce new iMacs" and "Which capacity and color should I get for my new iMac"
